[META] The THANK YOU SPACEBASS AND DONATION THREAD

I have noticed scattered posts thanking spacely throughout this game. Most recently, vector wrote in another thread:

Quote:
I belive that SpaceBass deserves a bit of something for hosting this forum, without wich we would not have had nearly as enjoyable an experience as we did.

I will also note that upon talking to him he had to buy an extra server specificaly to hold Haunted Apiary costing him extra $$ out of his own pocket. I think that if we can send wephun to the live exersize we could probably pitch in to defer the costs of the server

I agree. He should not have to pay for us to play this game out of his pocket. I also happen to know that he detests asking for money. He only recently added the donation link to each page. (He actually turned down offers of financial support before he upgraded to the new server!!) Only after the server upgrade-- which increased his costs-- did he reluctantly add the donation page.

Many people have commented on the welcoming and supportive nature of the unfiction community throughout this game. That quality is a direct reflection of the example set by SpaceBass.

Without SpaceBass there is no unfiction. Without unfiction, where would we be.....

Now, as the game is ending, I thought we may want to post our thanks to him--as well as encourage each other to donate to support the site -- in one thread. Note that PayPal now allows direct donation through a credit card without registering for a PayPal account.

Spacely: thanks.

/me tips his hat to Space

You're always there for us in our hours of need (as in 24/7). Donations for the server costs would sure be good (hearing this Bees PMs? Wink)

Thanks and appreciation now.

Donations after the Christmas season. (big family, wife is one of 8 kids, I'm one of 4, and 2 kids of our own, $ is always tight this time of year but loosens up considerably thereafter)

Thank you SpaceBass! I wish I could donate, but unfortunatly I can't. You have my heartfelt thanks, though, for hosting this great place. You rock. Very Happy

Although I'm pretty sure you get b0rked with some extra fees if you do accept card payments, and that you get them permanently applied to every transaction you make thereafter (it's annoying and complicated.)

Anyway, thanks much, sir. This game wouldn't be nearly as awesome without the unForums, and neither would we. Smile

I Love Bees.

It has been a great little adventure, with an engrossing story and characters, of which many are more realized here than on many shows on TV. But one of the things that help made the past few months fun is the community that sprang up here (and other locations to be sure, but here always felt... right.) Throughout the spec (some wild, some insane) and axon hunting, and puzzles and others in between, this has been the location to jump in and mix it up. And even though we sometimes strayed from the game (particularly in the gaps between axon hunting and puzzle updates) we remained civil and fun! Anyway I'm rambling, so now to the point. This forum has been a factor that has made this so enjoyable, and so props should be given. But even moreso, cash! If you wanted to send some scratch for weephun to go to the event, but found he was fine, send it via the donation link to support this wonderful resource.

I look forward to the next ARG!

This forum kept me engaged through the entire wonderful experience. Though I was only really engaged in the early stages of the game, the unforum community was constantly a place I could count on to have wonderful, engrossing information and spec and general camraderie that suddenly feels sorely lacking everywhere else.

Hats off, SpaceBass, for providing all of us with such an incredible nexus for our beekeeping.

I wont go through too many words, but thank you one and all. Thank you mods, thank you admins. Thank you everyone who contributed time and money, thank you everyone who answered questions.
Thank you to all the players who were civil in the chatroom, sharp on the puzzles and funny in the middle of the night waiting for axons.
Thank you PM's, but I'll save that praise for later.

I'd like to point out that the VirtuCube puzzle(you can find a board for it on the UnFiction forums) is apparantly offering a 500 dollar prize for solving the puzzles/game. We are discussing a loose pact wherein we will share all solves and observations in a joint effor to claim the prize, and donate it, in part or in whole, to UnFiction. So if you want to put your puzzle hat on in order to try and win a gift for SpaceBass, come on over. I know my brain is melting.
