[UNRELATED] Google search - probably nothing but... Probably nothing but coincidence see what you think anyway.
searching google for syzygy yielded this site
http://www.isl.uiuc.edu/ClusteredVR/ClusteredVR.htm
seems to be uni department.
It has the syzygy name link, has a cube in it and one of the persons who works in the cube room is called sarah - from the .cache emails
(for example http://www.perplexcity.com/tmp/httpd/errorlog/5957496696.cache )
It also concerns virtual reality which at a pinch could be considered an alternate reality (referring to theory that the cube links two realities/worlds)
At the time of the .cache email relating to the game start: 14th oct 11:39,
(http://www.perplexcity.com/tmp/httpd/errorlog/0595630738.cache )
sarah was working in the cube:
http://plywood.isl.uiuc.edu/webcal/week.php?user=Cube&date=20041013
However none of the other people at this facility who work there are mentioned in the .cache emails which eventually led me to believe theres nothing in it all.
I even checked the archived pics from the cameras of cube room at the dates of the .cache emails and the time lapse movies
see http://isl60.isl.uiuc.edu/flash/default.html
there was picture of two guys at the cube and one of the time lapse movies shows some guy at a terminal typing (maybe you coulda got a password from finger movements or image analysis?)
last thing i waned to mention was these links (environmental news from perplex city):
http://www.envirocitizen.org/STA/2004/DC/Metaphor_Gazette_1.pdf
http://www.envirocitizen.org/STA/2004/DC/Metaphor_Gazette_2.pdf
http://www.envirocitizen.org/STA/2004/Denver/Metaphor_Gazette_3.pdf
http://www.envirocitizen.org/STA/2004/Denver/Metaphor_Gazette_4.pdf
these have been mentioned in passing before but dont know if you all have the links.
Krycek (who hasnt posted yet) also helped compile/research all this

i think that uni link is out of game....waaaay too much published info and things about their development of 3d drawing tool type things....and lets face it a cube is a pretty standard 3d object

i came to the conclusion its likely out of game too, but back of my mind i seem to remember seeing quoted somewhere that this game is meant to blur lines between the game and reality.
An example of this already is if you look at the www.envirocitizen.org link. that too seems to be a legit non-game site yet it has unusual content on its site (environmental newsletters for perplex city, linked above my original post).

This is the third time I've said this today, and I'm gonna say it again! Please use the Search facility before posting, or at the very least read the other threads below yours first. The Metaphor Gazette was addressed in this thread of the same name, which was only 10 below this one.
Thanks alot

being a bit picky but any way: could this thread please have a more informative name if people are going to start posting google searchs, can i at least know that before reading the thread?
note: syzygy is a real word, and as such it will appear in "real life" situations

you'd have to be a giant to lose a vr-cube, as they are essentially cube-shaped "rooms", where stereoscopic images are projected on various walls. you can then stand inside such a cube and see 3D-objects floating in the air in front of you (or simulate a whole different room, in which limited movement is possible).
it is very fascinating, but i really don't see how that would fit into the game....

Remember that Syzygy is actually a word, so searching for it would be like searching for "bees" in I love bees, for example. Not much use.

Hehe. In my defense however i didnt post results soley based on a one word search on google. There were a number of similarities/parallels as outlined above.

Yes i had read all the posts. I couldnt however find the web links anywhere in the forum so to my mind i didnt duplicate any info.
Apologies for being a newb to this and not following procedures but thanks for being so friendly about it all
