An update from Microsoft this morning has provided detailed intel on what gamers can expect. Calling it "a culmination to the Halo 2 I Love Bees program," a Microsoft spokesperson told GameSpot that "Bee Keepers" will be "guided to four locations across the country for a special event."

"Upon arrival," we were told, "the Bee Keepers will find their way to a theater where they will receive a special commemorative DVD (and a collector's lanyard) as well as a special chapter of the ILB game specifically created for the event." Did you just read that? It's ok!?! you can do a doubletake.

Microsoft said those in attendance "will have a chance to be among the first in the world to have hands-on play with the final version of Halo 2 multiplayer." Awesome!?! My prayers have been Answered. Thank you Bungie/Microsoft

First, in reply to Maizan.
That's the story he sent Dana and she took it. He sent her his name, rank, backstory, and even how many jumps he made. so there you go.

.
Finally, Maizan I'm glad you're a rude git. If we're playing on LIVE it'll be more fun.

Second, Please spell my name correctly.

Third, I'm only rude to people who get stupid on me.

Fourth, Just because the PMs accept the application does not mean that they proofed your brother's information. It's all fictional anyway, and at this late stage of the game, there is no reason to correct your bother with "There are no admirals in the marine corp." -- I'm just pointing it out that most of the rest of the ILB crew, who are not as rude as I am, will be laughing at your brother behind your back. No lie. I'm just rude enough to point it out to your face.

Fifth, if you or your brother can spank me in Halo 2, it doesn't change the fact that the backstory is flawed and that you guys lurked around this game (at best) and are leeching off what the ILB crew did for the last few months (at worst). Either way, you lose here. "Killing Spree"

Sixth... what was first? Oh, you know what I wanted to say, but this is a family show, so I have some respect. Twisted Evil

Seventh, nothing here, move along, 7 is for the PMs and Bungie and Robert who has seen too many 7s in his life, right down to his child being born at 3:43 AM. w00t

am i the only one that feels a bit... slighted by the fact anyone can go to the combat training? i know it's a bit elitist and all, but it just feels wrong that we did all this work of answering payphones and organizing and whatnot (though it was a lot of fun! Very Happy ), and then all these other people just get to jump in and play and do the stuff that we get to do w/out any knowledge of the other stuff that went on beforehand.

i almost want to be like, "you guys over here didn't do anything, so you just stand there and watch us get all this cool crap and play halo 2 before you."

when i have a superiority complex, i do this Neutral

Still, it's pretty obvious who signed up because they heard of the "halo 2 multiplaying" (looking at your Joined date).

Hey, Mazian! I'm in with you on the beat down of lurkers/trolls. My bf and roomie are in too!

I'm wich joo. And to those who say "but you get to pre-register" (uh wait, someone already said that) my response is: But they only have 4 of the events, and not everyone who has been involved (like the people from overseas or Canada) can get to these events, let alone all of the beekeepers in the USA.

Less than 2 weeks notice is brutal on the cost of the plane and prohibitive for the majority of the dedicated players (i.e., the under 25-30 crowd).

I also don't consider it a "superiority complex" when you put time and effort in to something. You expect to get paid for your job, if there are perks to be had for this event, I think those who dragged their lazy bum out to a payphone at least one week, or helped develop the timelines and organize the waves, or who assisted in getting the puzzles solved... those are the people who should get access. (For the overseas crew who contributed, I'm including you, in case my phrasing is in any way unclear.)

Everyone else are the "johnny come lately"s who start talking smack about how they're going to pwn all of us beekeepers, and "oh, btw, I've been lurking since the beginning, I just didn't actually join unfiction until after the announcement of a Halo2 multiplayer event.."

I do this when I'm mad Mad

This is me spacing out about random scenarios, but wouldn't it be fun if there was a quiz or a password we had to know or you guys know what I mean...more "training exercises" before any actual touching of teh Halo 2.

I dont know.. I have been way involved with the actual axons but my knowledge beyond the wave files and basic spec is lack-luster. I might get owned by a test... but my dedication was there. Running around, answering payphones for 10+ weeks. I just really dont know what to do on Tuesdays... ( I called all of my friends to do something yesterday and had nothing to occupy my bee's timeslot!!! Sad )

*edited because I suck at proofreading... or rather dont at all...*

You mean at the event or on the phones/axons?

This is my fun spec:
* raffle contest (easily done: already have our names and the other events have raffle contests like Bungie Halo 2 Launch FanFest
* Trivia quiz (easily eliminates the dedicated from the not-so's)
* team multiplaying: SF vs Austin vs Schaumburg vs NY.
* PMs (scattered across each location)
* a Bungie employee (why not?)

This isn't costly at all for Microsoft; they've done this before at the Metreon when the Xbox came out. I mean, Bungie hosted how many Halo 2 multiplaying events? Way too many during its beta testing! So this is nothing - totally routine!

So, why not? ^_-

Okay for the San Francisco people.

Would anyone be willing to let 3 Idahoans (Boise Squad) Members, including weephun, Mad Cow, and EvilJester crash at their place after the Incredibles movie? That means they'd be seeing the incredibles. I've already invested a good chunk of money out of my pocket and I dont fancy a hotel room that we will only be using for mb 8 hours to sleep in (if that...) I know this may sound commanding or very straightforward, but we would appreciate any offers.
I know Mazian offered his place and we are grateful for that. Unfortunately the trains shut down while we are in the movie so we wouldnt be able to get a ride out there. Thanks guys.

Pray that someone has a car. (I cross my fingers.)

My place is naturally full - 6 tenants and a cat. I would have to ask them if you guys can stay. We have a big living room. It all depends if our friends end up coming over and spending the night. :/

Hmm...

I will loan you guys a key (to get in to my house) if someone will offer you a ride. I live in Dublin near the 580/680 interchange. Maybe some other beekeeper who can stay to see the movie will feel generous and help you out either with a place or a ride.

Sadly, I can't stay, I must work the next day.

You know I sympathize re lurkers suddenly showing up when there's swag like a demo. But it's pretty common. And the reality is they don't know you, we don't know them, they'll be trying to get into the theater early and we'll be swapping axon-hunting stories. The PMs know us, know that these guys are latecomers, but still want to demo their game. It will all work out.

Get your map right here

I hope I don't get in trouble for posting in 3 different (albeit very similar) places, but I want to make sure people who want to use this don't miss the opportunity to get it.

It is a map of the immediate area, complete and replete with the latest in axon hunting information, as well as other November 4th activites, for San Francisco.

Thanks to ariock for hosting this contactme axon map for me.

Prints best on a color printer. Smile

As someone who HAS been lurking since the beginning, I feel uniquely qualified to weigh in here:

I've been following I love bees since the beginning. At first, I was only mildly interested. I got pulled in however, when the segements in the radio drama started to come togeather. I mean...DAMN. Some of the character moments in there are, as I'm sure you know...amazing. The moment I first realized Jersey's father is dead. The moment Jan realized she's talking to her mother...harsh. So since then, I've been regularly hitting up the site. I haven't, however, registered becuase I haven't really had anything useful to contribute to the puzzle solving.

Anyway, none of that is particularly relevant. What you will care about is this:

Yeah. I have *never made it to an axon.* What can I say, life intereferes.

AND when I heard about the "training exercise" I thought to my self, eh. who cares? Its five freaking days, and I have midterms. I won't even notice that week. But I realized...this was my chance. This was FINALLY my chance to go meet other people interested in this harsh little story 500 years in the future. This was my chance to play at a LAN party with a bunch of other people who will *get it.*

So yeah I finally sent Dana an E-mail. I signed up.

Just consider: not everyone showing up only for that day will be there for H2. And the general consensus of even the rabid Halo 2 crowd has been: Eh. Five days. Whoop-de-do. If people show up there, they probably at least know the story too.
