There are a number of other "typos" too. I thought maybe there might be four, but I can only find three. Is that cypher typed exactly as it was in the email?

Quote:
1597 233 8 1 6765 8 | 21 987 | 10946 987 | 46368 46368 46368.5 1 7675 (1) 1 10946 8 3 34.987 4181 21/6765 17711 610 5 55 1 233 | 10946 987 | 13 55 610 5 | 10946 34 55 6765 | 46368 8 8 144'6765 | 3 987 5 8 | 1597 {X} (2) 987 10946 987

4181 8 6765 1597 987 610 5 | 10946 987 | 10946 34 55 6765 | 8 377 1 55 233 | 46368 55 10946 34 | 10946 34 8 | 3 987 4181 4181 8 3 10946 | 13 987 17711 3181 (3) | 610 17711 377 2 8 4181 6765 | 10946 987 | 1597 4181 987 3 8 8 5

1.) 7675 should be 6765, S.
2.) Missing number 34, H.
3.) 3181 should be 4181, R.

So I sent in the 4 numbers for 'park' and got a negative response (I'm now a POTENTIAL THREAT).

I'm copying and pasting the numbers from the email again. The typo numbers must be a clue of some sort

Here is a paste of the numbers again:

1597 233 8 1 6765 8 | 21 987 | 10946 987 | 46368 46368 46368.5 1 7675 1 10946 8 3 34.987 4181 21/6765 17711 610 5 55 1 233 | 10946 987 | 13 55 610 5 | 10946 34 55 6765 | 46368 8 8 144'6765 | 3 987 5 8 | 1597 987 10946 987

4181 8 6765 1597 987 610 5 | 10946 987 | 10946 34 55 6765 | 8 377 1 55 233 | 46368 55 10946 34 | 10946 34 8 | 3 987 4181 4181 8 3 10946 | 13 987 17711 3181 | 610 17711 377 2 8 4181 6765 | 10946 987 | 1597 4181 987 3 8 8 5

Darn, identical. I still can't spot more than 3 mistakes. Maybe a typo's just a typo.

I'm getting the same results. 3 typos, but only 3.

But the message says this is "this week's code photo," which makes me think that the message itself is unrelated to how to solve the photo. Also makes me doubt that the numbers shown on the negative or whatever it is (though I can't find any images that match that kind of layout) are the answer either.

Hi, been lurking....

FWIW, looking at the photo, the trees on the left aren't casting a shadow on the ground, but the (very bright) blue bin is....

Edit for clarification: I'm thinking that if the bin is the sundial, maybe your code word is BLUE?

I'd avoid guesses at this point. Only contact if we/you are almost confident of the answer.

Exact second that picture on "sundial" page was taken:

Also, I do believe that guesses should keep being sent in.

Regardless, the next phase of "game" should result, eventually.

Maybe, 4 numbers in the Fibonacci series should be sent in... either first 4 (for a,b,c,d - 1,2,3,5), or 4 not used (the 4 after the number used for "w", so 75025, 121393, 196418, 317811) - although these guesses have to do with code and not with message, or picture.

I vote for "BLUE".

I'm with thebruce on this one.

None of the proposed answers so far strike me as all that compelling... yeah, I realize I'm not really helping here. Embarassed

Hell, maybe we're not even supposed to get it. Maybe we're supposed to be a "threat" and that will kick off a new phase of the game. Who knows.

ETA: Random thought - any of you guys have a phone like that? Is there an app that can make phone pics look like that, i.e. with the faux-old-camera strips at the top and bottom, with the numbers?

Why would they make it look like a pic taken with an old type of film?

Yeah, I hesitant to submit a guess unless we have something solid to go on.

Ambiance? I dunno otherwise, especially if the 126 film is supposed to be significant, because that film makes square pictures with different markings [example].

125px is a type of film stock, and would appear on every photo taken with that stock. Not saying it isn't significant, but that's exactly what that is.

EDIT: furthermore, it's a discontinued film stock, and was black and white. Either this photo was edited in some instagram style app on the phone, and that's just the style of the edit (also makes sense because 125px was made by kodak, adding to the "vintage" feel of those apps, but also the photo doesn't say Kodak 125px, likely to avoid copyright infringement), OR- it was intentionally edited to say 125px with the other markings, but if you're going to go that far- why not also make it black and white?

My money is on it's just a filter applied in an app on the phone.

I think this leads more credibility that the answer could be "BLUE" (or the four numbers representing "BLUE" in the Fibonacci number series code used).

Try it and move the game forward...in some direction...

Considering that the photo is called "sundial", and the EXIF data has the time it was taken in it, that's my guess for a tip to decode the message.

But I can't even really keep up with how the numbers are being decoded.

Well, I'm open to any suggestions re: the numbers. I'm at a loss as to what to do right now.

The 2 current suggestions are:

(1) distinctive color of item in middle of picture: BLUE, or "2,233,17711,8"

and

(2) time of day of picture: 7:31 pm , or "1931" hours.

these would both be 4 numbers.

Anybody care to add any other thoughts ?
