This theory made by Kadomony on 17 August 2009 is one that seriously deserves investigation. It would largely explain the complete chaos--two sides not coordinating but rather competing.

There seems to be a lot of alliances being made along the way--recruitment of people on this forum, Anonymous hackers, Chilean activists, protest movements in Russia/Ukraine and even Syrian opposition.

While the engagement of this forum might have cooled since 2009, activity coordination with some of these other groups seems to have spiked in 2011 and still possibly continues today?

ARG is a genre of gaming very familiar to the people of this forum. But as people like Ad Arcana Tutanda have raised to my attention ARG is also possibly a tool for affecting behavior or communication of populations and is being actively studied if it is not already used by the governments.

What I see today is a world where state funded mass media like RT lend assistence to opposition movements in other countries in the name of liberty (e.g. Anonymous) while their own domestic behaviors tolerate little opposition. If they use all other media for such why would gaming media be any different?

They give a voice to their enemy's enemies or even strengthen voice of their own enemy for a time if it gives the impression to people that there is democracy in their elections or a dangerous threat to national security.

In this documents which conveniently have appeared after several years we see a story about terrorism in the volatile Russian republics of Caucasia. This raises many questions for me about the purpose and timing by involved parties. Why give attention to these groups (negative or positive) and why now?

I suggest we might give more attention to the political context thread Ad Arcana Tutanda started and start a 'persons of interest' thread or wiki?

It seems to me that we have many pieces but nobody has done the effort of sorting them all out in context.

One thing that is assumed here is that people are using their real backgrounds, residences, etc. But as we have seen people are rarely if ever giving such information. I myself am shielding my identity because of concerns.

This name is not exactly common so I found this interesting...

I could not view his FB or LinkedIn profiles easily but looking at other sites I think this Sumedha Senanayake who posted message of solidarity is another than the Sumedha Senanayake who works for iJet. Embarassed

not sure if this would be going way too far OOG but I could use my professional LinkedIn account and try to network with him, as I am an intelligence analyst as well...

would that be creep factor overload? haha

The one who contacted Junko appears to be a DJ and teaching assistant living in Australia. And his photos suggest he is a different one from the person who is a senior analyst at iJet.

 		I just finished reading this whole thread. It literally took several days. My only conclusion is: WTF??!!

Reading this 4 years after the fact, it really seems like the most elaborate trolling campaign I've ever heard of. The butthurt of some of the people involved and the sheer illegality involved on all sides of this is straight up staggering. I can't believe anyone with half a brain would even have tried to get into this, not counting AAT who clearly actually has/had high enough and reliable enough clearances to not need to worry too much about accidentally starting a serious real life shit storm.

Total madness. I understand it was a game, but seeing a lot of what went down makes me feel like it wasn't really a game for everyone who got caught up in it.

You are assuming there were no objectives if you think it was 'trolling'. And that governments can be held accountable to their own laws.

Have you seen new leak that proves your NSA has been gathering data by pretending to be Google?
