Yeah, Jay's been living such a dangerous and screwed up life at that point that when someone he knows and who's been doing this longer than he has tells him to be quiet in the abandoned house in the middle of nowhere that could possibly house an eldritch abomination for all he knows, then he's going to be quiet.

After making the items infographic and trying to keep track of the cameras it occurred to me that we never really found out what happened to Tim's camera at the end of this entry. In Entry #54 Tim says that he gave the camera back to Alex, but obviously he kept the tape for Entry #57, and he if knew what was on that tape he probably wouldn't want to talk to Alex again to give him back the camera. So someone else took this camera from Tim, but after Tim took the Entry #57 tape out. Could it be that Hoody took the camera and planted it in Alex's closet, allowing Entry #26 to happen? That seems a bit farfetched to me, but it would tie up two loose ends. And the mystery footage in Entry #26 does look a bit like the hospital. Since we're in a lull between videos we may as well try to sort out what happened in earlier entries.

If by 'sort out what happened' you mean 'do totally baseless speculation', sure. Laughing

I'm not what the explanation for that would be other than the same excuse every plothole gets: TTA did it maybe, for reasons?

Or Tim just takes the camera with him after waking up and forgetting everything (and fortuitously not being killed by Alex) and then takes the tape out and keeps it with no realistic motivation. That's probably what happened, honestly.

I never had the impression from 26 that Alex had actually thought himself rid of all his cameras. I think he had that one stashed and A) didn't expect her to snoop or B) sent her to grab something from his closet and forgot it was there in that moment or didn't think she'd be all over it. I think Alex's slightly odd behaivor is a mix of uneasy feelings about being filmed again and being caught in a lie about having a camera. It could even be that the memories that the camera brought to Alex's mind were what spawned the Operator right there in what had been, clearly, a safe haven until then. But no matter what caused the Op to appear, the camera could most definitely be Alex's from before. He might not even have memory of the fact that he still had it. But I think it was his. He kept a lot of creepy tapes of him doing fucked up shit... He would need a camera to view them right?

To be honest, I got the impression that Alex had a camera stashed away and was just making excuses to Amy (perhaps he forgot he had it, or forgot where he left it, etc) but enough people seem to think he didn't know he had it that I could be wrong. Anyway, the point is that "Tim's" camera was Alex's all along and Tim seems to think he gave it back to Alex, even though he kept the tapes. Taking things from one character and leaving them for another seems like a Hoody/totheark thing to do (eg Jay wakes up with no knife then suddenly Masky has it, Masky shows up while Jay sleeps and the pills vanish.) It's possible that Hoody was around at the hospital, removed Tim from the operator's grasp, and took the camera. Tim would wake up with no memory of it, and no camera, so he'd assume he just gave the camera back to Alex at some point. Then almost anything could have happened to the camera, perhaps it no longer worked (like Jay's camera in Entry #23), perhaps it got stashed in Alex's closet to bring him back into this mess, perhaps Hoody uses it to film present day videos. But if Hoody was working behind the scenes back then, s/he probably isn't Brian or Seth, so who could they be?

Okay, right now I'm leaning more towards "the camera doesn't work anymore and Tim just threw it away", but for some reason this particular loose end is bugging me. What happened to that camera?!

To answer my own question: Tim clearly kept the camera. Otherwise how would he have known what was on the Entry #76 tape?
