Is anyone else intrigued as to why the Operative had to wait to use the device?

Not really, It is irreverent and unimportant to anything with the story.
The Mechanic even stated this.

The Mechanic answered: The work of Alain Aspect is not related

Thanks for your input, Greystone. Yes, I understand that the reason the Operative had to wait had nothing to do with the Aspect work. So there obviously must have been some other reason for him to wait 70 years to use the device. I wondered if he had to wait for someone to die?

Maybe he was trying to figure out how to make it work, or perhaps it was hidden and he couldn't find it for years?

All good points, Tenshi. Thanks, and to everyone in the DC area: Take care and stay safe!

Fragment 07 update from the Mechanic

The QFDA has just updated. Fragment 07 has crossed over in Pittsburgh. Here is the information:

"The Westinghouse Memorial is what you seek. Follow the path along the right side of the monument. Along the way, look for a lamp post's shattered bottom, which remains planted near a blooming cherry tree. You are looking for the lamp post's other, fallen half, which can be found by maneuvering around the bush."

In addition to the nice photo by Greystone, a Flickr photo showing the path on the right of the memorial and an upright lamppost can be found here:

The Westinghouse Memorial is in Schenley Park, south of Carnegie Mellon University. It is near the intersection of Schenley Drive and West Circuit Rd.

I sent Tonamel a PM. I know I've had a few occasions where unforum stops sending me new post notifications. Hopefully he's still available.

I had pm'd to Tonamel a few days ago, and have not received a reply yet, either.

It appears Tonamel said that "if in Pittsburgh in Thanksgiving time period, he could help", and doing 2 minutes of searching, it appear that IRL, Tonamel may live near Indianapolis.

So, I have just sent an e-mail to an active member (JeepPrincess) in Pittsburgh of geocaching.com to see if she could help us.

P.S. We should get OTP22 people on this, they recoverd a drop in Sofia, Bulgaria within 4 hours of location identification !

Yup, he just got back to me saying he is nowhere near Pittsburgh. Hopefully JeepPrincess works out. I don't really know anyone else in the area.

Yeah !
JeepPrincess is interested and is on the trail of Fragment # 7.
I have sent her the details, and hope to hear about recovery in the near future (no set time yet).

Also, I invited her to join unfiction.com and post her recovery info here.

Wow, that's great! It looks like the two of you are going to pull this one this one out for us in the final inning.
