My main problem with Iron Man is he's usually just a douche who's full of himself. He has his moments (although strangely enough, I only remember them being in The Avengers. Guess it requires Whedon's wit to make me like him) but then there's all the showing off he does which often bites him in the ass, his disregard for other people, his creepy obsession with Spider-Man in the comics, him sleeping with She-Hulk then later conspiring against her cousin, the Hulk... if he spent less time doing stuff like that and more time being witty and only cocky to a degree, I'd like him more.
