Half-asleep theory I'm making up before work: What if there are two Jays? Not one from the future, but actually, physically two? The other is a duplicate created by the Operator and dresses in the hoody to conceal his identity...?

also on a serious note, wtf... entry 68 takes place after 69. hoody had taken alex's gun at the end of 69 and still has it (shown by the entry where he puts the pills in that abandoned area). why not shoot him in entry 68?

In the interest of clarity, I'm assuming you mean "68 takes place after 67." That is actually an excellent question... That entry generally seemed like Hoody wasn't interested in killing Alex so much as pissing him off, so maybe killing him isn't actually the first priority right now...

Yeah that's what I meant

I mean... he goes through all this trouble to find Alex (using both jay and jessica to lure him out) and then when he finally confronts him while he has no weapon or no operator around, he just runs away even though he still has the gun. wtf

I'm guessing his plan isn't as simple as killing Alex, then, or maybe after the events of 67 and 45 he just decided it wasn't worth trying as every time he gets close TO shows up. Let's not forget he then lured Alex into the maintenance tunnel, and we don't necessarily know what happened down there- probably nothing important, but who knows?

Alternatively, he did not actually expect Alex to be coming (though he certainly looks like he was expecting company) and had left the gun in the maintenance tunnel or somewhere else.

Basically, who knows? Maybe killing Alex wasn't the actual point after all.

Or maybe he was just out of bullets for some reason and hadn't had a chance to restock yet. He doesn't seem like he keeps tons of ammunition in his lair.

Because the gun was hidden in a difficult to access location, as shown in Entry 73. So he didn't have it on him and couldn't have easily grabbed it. So he simply laughed at Alex because he knew Alex was scared of getting shot and wasn't actually going to severely hurt him because of information that Hoody had that Alex wanted. Simple, actually.

Just a thought. Much has been made of Jay's comment about not remembering what he was doing before all of this. I don't believe he literally can't remember; I took it to mean he felt he didn't have anything to go back to. Or at least, nothing worth going back to. But he wasn't about to say that to Tim. Which makes perfect sense; Tim's already worried about Jay's mental health, and the words "I have nothing to go back to" could easily be interpreted as suicidal. Since Tim clearly has no problem taking matters into his own hands if he thinks he's justified, how might he react to that?

Although, now I'm really thinking about this, it could be foreshadowing the fact that Jay's living on borrowed time. I don't believe he's suicidal; rather, I think it's possible that he has a task to carry out, and once that's done, he's going to die. One way or another. I really hope that's just a wild, groundless theory.

hi, first time posting, new to this site.

i read the first 10 pages of this thread, as well as the last few and couldn't find if a thing that i noticed had been mentioned. if it has already been discussed... well shame on me.

at 5:27 they are up in the attic and Jay swings the camera around to look at the opposite wall and at 5:28 you can see a human figure with the flashlight glinting off its glasses (alex?)

after that the camera carefully avoids showing that exact spot again.

again, sorry if this has already been discussed but i didn't want to go through 60 pages of posts just to be sure
