I don't know, I thought Jessica Took a Level in Badass in this entry. Don't think I'd call her a Damsel anymore (as I had previously thought her to be, I am ashamed to admit). Of course, she's taken at the end anyway, so I guess we'll be needing a new one.

(For those unfamiliar: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TookALevelInBadass
Be forewarned: one can enter TvTropes easily, but will not so easily leave).

Jessica was shown to be a strong character in season two as well, though. When she saw a (from her POV) a creepy stalkerish guy, she tried to get him to back off by lying about herself (not to menticon, from her POV, he could have been the guy who had put her in the hotel in the first place), she was able to keep a clear head with the situation she was in and managed to see a potential connection between herself and Jay and was willingly to trust Jay somewhat to get answers and she managed to get Jay to get his shit together at the end of #53 and generally, just seemed to handle everything a lot better then Jay.

Grabbing Alex's gun didn't phase me in the least, she had been established as a very strong and determined character. Yes, she freaked out, but she was losing huge chunks of her memories, woke up in a strange place where anything could have happened to her and seemingly had The Operator rifle through her thoughts, it's understandable.

For me, all these qualities and her knowledge of Alex (as well as this being a horror/supense narrative as you can't have someone too useful) - as well as this being a horror narrative - of Alex always lead me to suspect she'd probably be dead (it hurts. WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH?).

But, I defiently agree that the female characters in this series do a bit more development then we've seen.

Pretty much what Jordan said. Although I'm not convinced she survived, I really hope she did just because I feel like she'd honestly be the best teammate for Jay.

These are all very good points. I suppose I had an inadvertent association with Jessica as a Damsel archetype because she looks a great deal like my wife did when she was the actress's age, Lo those many years ago. And while my wife can kick my ass any time she wants, I've never thought of her as a badass.

Just, you know, don't tell her I said that. Now, to clear my browser history...

Actually, if my wife had racked up close to six hundred posts on an Alternate Reality Game forum, I would be too impressed to be afraid of her tiny (though ferocious) fists of retribution.

Back to the thread topic:
I'd be interested to see a poll asking the Unforum about their opinion on Jessica's fate- specifically, whether she is still above ground. Rather than create a thread and run the risk of it being locked for some forum rule I'm not aware of, I figured I'd ask before I did so. (Still new here, and trying to ruffle as few feathers as possible; I know how feisty folks can get about their forums and/or hobbies).

I second the idea of a poll, I think it would be interesting to see where the average consensus lies now that the debating has occurred and people seem to have generally come to their personal decision. I think the debate of whether she is alive or dead could be a hot topic on its own, so yeah. Seconded.

You could continue to discuss it in this thread, since it's relevant.

Yeah, but her fate has been discussed to death. I feel we need something new to talk about, or at least different.

I made a new poll by the way, enjoy Very Happy

If you feel that discussion has gone on long enough, why are you trying to start it up again in another thread?

Cause, I'm like that.

Anyway, I think 79 South Creek Road should be very interesting once we get there. I just honestly hope the next couple of entries happen in real time, and not by a found tape. Mostly cause I hate Jay's hesitation to do ANYTHING. At this point, there shouldn't be any hesitation. He's come too far, gone through too much to wait for answers. Especially answers that are presented to him on a silver platter. Or perhaps he already went to that address, and failed to tell us about it in-case nothing was there? I'm just shootin in the wind here.

Or he finally found something so bad he can't decide whether or not he wants to put it on the internet.

He's found multiple things like that before, so dunno where the "finally" is coming from.

Well, it could be THAT messed up that Jay just can't confront it - or given that Jessica's dead and his mental health is detoriating rapidly, he just can't deal with whatever has happened.

Or Troseph just like teasing things out Smile

I know there's been arguements about, but I'm not sure how seriously we are meant to take the gaps between entries unless they are specifically referenced to in game. From memory, Tim and Jay's decision to go back to Tim's house seemed pretty immediete in entry #74 (leading me to believe that entry #75 happened pretty much the next day or two) and I can't see Jay waiting THIS long not to get answers and not going to the lodge.

On the otherhand, it's enterily possible Jay really just doesn't care anymore and is tired of being manipulated by both Team Totheark and Alex and is just waiting it out somewhere for The Operator to come or him to mentally detoriate to an extent where he can't feel anything, but Tim has gone on ahead and something's gone awry (or seemingly so....) and the footage will be posted online.

I'd like to see a Tim solo entry. It could be what brings him and Jay back on the same team.

I actually think it's possible that Jay is finally getting a little bit of self-preservation instinct. Whether it's Hoody holding Alex hostage at the address or not, it's clear that someone is holding someone hostage (barring deception, obviously) which means that someone's armed. I can understand him heading to the house in the previous entry, because he had Tim with him for backup, but heading to that address, on his own, unarmed, against someone with unclear motives is not a particularly good idea. Sure, he's done some foolishly dangerous things before, but unless my memory fails me, I can't recall an instance in which he deliberately went up against an opponent he knew was armed beforehand.

It could be that he'll try to bury the hatchet with Tim before he goes to the address. It's what I would do in his situation (though, I'm relatively sane and have not recently been subjected to an apparent betrayal).

Or maybe he's been spending time scouting the location. Jay never struck me as stupid, and, you know, "Fools rush in."

Or maybe it's something completely different, or the time between entries aren't completely relevant to Out of Game time, as others have suggested.

OOG:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
They are milking it and drawing us out and they have been for a while now, though Troy does this because it is rational IG. They know the production schedule of the movie and have to draw out interest so it bridges into sales for the feature length film. This is obvious.
