Phyllis email

Little did I know what a big hub bub this was going to create. Yes I am a right brained thinker and I really get into a story. It was not my intention to withhold information. From my point of view as a new person in this type of game... I bow to much wiser than I.. I was just playing along with the mole story and decided to be creative much like the people that made up the FBI thread or the ones who sent in that manipulated picture of Bruce. Once the storyline spilled over into our forum at Unfiction I felt that our actions should too...I went too far in the immersion bit and was fully immersed in the story and got misunderstood in the meantime.

I wasnt really offended that someone stole the dang email...shoot what fun for me... I got to play along and yes I have had a blast!

I only deleted the posts after some one request that I do so. I have recieved some flak from respecting this.
Lord save us from the wrong move.

You also have to know that I feel deep empathy for Phyllis. lelelelellele
Ok so she may be a bit player to some but not to me cause she is part of the game for me and she chose me to help her and I am going to as well.
I will post all of the correspondence that has passed between us. It really isnt that big of a deal.
To those I upset I humbly beg your pardon for upsetting your day.
I will posts my emails later for I am at work now.

Dear Phyllis!

It was so great to hear from you! I suspected that you have been very buzy of late what with the influx of "visitors" to the Needle. I am so glad that I was able to afford a little glee into your life! After thinking about you standing out in the moonlight holding a key out for God knows who to gander at. I started to laugh at the silliness of it too. Sometimes my enthusiasm for mystery outstrips my practicle side. My goodness imagine what Mrs Dobbs would do if she saw that! You are so right not to compromise yourself!
I hope that it did not cause you great distress with the crashing of the servers to your website. From what I understand you have had it hard enough given the fact that Sprague fellow manhandled you and tried to get your precious Veritas manuscript from your own hands. By the way, if you are interested I can connect you with an individual that has another page of the manuscript.
Then to add insult to injury your wonderful clientel have turned into purloining pickpockets! My goodness the utter gall of some people! What items have been taken and what significance do they hold? I hope that you marked them in some way as proof of ownership. Have the thefts been reported to the police? Hopefully your insurance will cover your loss.
It appears that the Aglaura auction is doing very well. Did you see that someone accidentally bid $1,125.00 for your "Mystery Tile Box"? I am told a freaky feline facilitated the "faux PAW" LOL!
Ok I cant help my curiosity and I hope that I do not ask too much of you, but, why does the Maiden cause you to be queasy? Does it hold bad memories for you? My father had an antique mask from the Phillipeans and I tell you it gave me no end of nightmares! I know you can understand how an antique can grab hold of you till you have to know its history.
Thank you for tolerating my flights of fancy and I wanted you to know that I have truly enjoyed my correspondence with you.

Phyllis response and accusation

This is the little email that started all of this..... LELELLELELELEL Razz

Sunny,
I suppose you've heard about what happened. Indeed, reading your last email I
cannot avoid thinking that you KNEW I was going to be molested in my own home
and robbed of my most valuable assets! The manuscript page, the hidden
painting, all of it – gone! You wrote: "I can connect you with an individual
that has another page of the manuscript." Oh, can you really?! Is his "someone"
a friend of yours? Are you, and all the others who have pestered me about the
manuscript, part of some gang of thieves that go about preying on defenseless
women?! I am hurt, wounded to my core! I foolishly thought you actually liked
me, that you wanted to be my friend. I should have known better. Everyone that
has ever been nice to me has just wanted to take advantage of me, to deceive
and manipulate and get something for nothing. Why does this happen to me?! What
have I done to deserve such abusive treatment?! You KNEW and you didn't WARN
me! If I am wrong and you are sincerely trying to be my friend, then you will
help me and tell me everything you know about these felons.

Phyllis

email defending myself

Dear Phyllis:

First of all let me say how dismayed I am from all that has occurred. I have been away visiting my ailing mother and I come back to find that not only have you been attacked but you have also accused me of being an accomplice in this thievery.
I am grieved to the core to be aligned with such a dastardly act!!
I definitely am not in the habit of socializing with criminal ruffians and truly resent the implication that I do. In fact it makes me question my friendship with you as well.
I will say this though. I can truly understand why you would feel the way that you do, what with all the things that have happened to you and why you would question my veracity. It is all so very shocking.
Just to let you know my contact that was interested with your lost treasure is a tenured Professor at one of the finest Universities in England and would hardly resort to theft to get an item.
Phyllis, I only saw a brief glimpse of his page but it looked similar to yours, it had the same motif and everything. I am hardly a Renaissance scholar afterall and cannot be a 100% sure but the Professor seemed rather interested when I told him about your page and he mumbled something about it being one of the missing pieces he was looking for. Then he said something that stuck in my mind. He said that he hoped that he would be able to purchase it and get it to safety before THEY got it!
I have absolutely no idea who he meant by THEY but he refused to discuss it. I definitely heard a hint of fear in his voice. That is all I know at this point. I will do my best to see if I cant get anymore information from my friend. Just to warn you though he is as stubborn as an ox when he chooses not to divulge information.
Phyllis did you see the miscreants that molested you? Do you have any idea who could have done this to you? There have been so many people going in and out of your store and with the high profile of the Internet and the manuscript page posted on it, no telling what kind of Cretans could have perpetrated this heinous crime.
You did not deserve to have this happen to you. It would be a good idea to put some security measures in place at the Hollow Needle in the future although it is much like shutting the barn door after the cow has gotten out. I was hoping you would after hearing of the pilfering that had been going on at the Needle but did not want to be presumptuous in suggesting it.
I just want to tell you how heavy my heart is that this occurred to you. I sincerely pray that you are well. I hope that you will heal from this traumatic incident and that you recover your precious manuscript. I also hope that the criminals that did this to you will get their just reward and be punished to the full extent of the law.
I hope that we can put this behind us and continue our friendship. If there is anything I can do to help you please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Sunny

Email from Phyllis apology for accusations

Here is the email tht phyllis sent me apologising to me about her accusations.

Dear Sunny,
I'm sorry I lashed out at you. I just don't know who to trust anymore. You want to know why the "Floating Maiden" makes me queasy? It's not the object itself. As it sits upon a tabletop, it's just a whimsical little candy dish. Sometimes I squint my eyes at her and wonder if she's lying down, floating on water or upright, dancing on her toes. No, what makes me nervous is seeing her on my web site, just hanging on white nothingness. I am feeling like that, like I'm being blown by an invisible wind in a bright white void. All the landmarks, all the parts of my life that I thought were solid and reliable, seem to be disappearing into a fog of confusion and insecurity. I ask myself, when did this start, when did everything start to fall apart? And the answer is, when Diana died.
She was such a beautiful person, she had it all, intelligence, education,
social conscience, and a kind of patrician quality I like to think I possess. I used to have these little dinner parties and the Sprague's were on my A-list. There was a glow about them, their youth, their vitality, their creativity was
infectious and delightful. Then, Diana died so horribly and just days later
there was Dale in my shop, acting like a wild man! He physically wrestled with me over that cursed manuscript page! He was raving, I tell you, and his eyes were blazing with madness. It frightened me badly; it shook everything I thought I had known about him and called my previous judgment of him into question.

Then, the graffiti appeared on our home and it did not help one bit that it
appeared all over town. I felt personally branded by it. I love our home so much and have worked so hard to restore it to it's original beauty. I have striven to create an atmosphere of genteel charm and understated elegance. That graffiti was a slap in the face to me. It felt like some demon from chaos had come to mark the order I had created for destruction. It has been erased from the building but not from my mind.
And then the evening of the burglary, there was Sam acting just the way Dale had acted! Little scatter-brained, mild-mannered Sam yelling at me, clenching his fists and jerking away like he feared he would strike me. I thought, what is happening in this town? Are people going crazy?! Or am I losing MY mind?! I couldn't sleep; I could not settle; my nerves I were so shaken. So, I went downstairs that night to fix myself a little toddie.

Douglas keeps badgering me to say what the felon looked like: Was he tall or short, bulky or slight? And, I wail, I don't know, I don't know! I'm not even sure there was only one. I saw something move in the darkness of the shop and then it was upon me like a wall of blackness. It struck me! And I awoke in the hospital where they could not find a mark on me! Did I faint? I don't know. It felt like something knocked the breath out of me, like a physical blow. Oh, Sunny, am I losing my mind?!

Who could have done this? Dale and Sam obviously wanted the page and were willing to commit violence to get it. But, I just don't want to believe it. It would mean everyone has been wearing false faces of civility while underneath, crudeness and cruelty have lurked. And then, there is this professor you mentioned. I'm not implicating you, dear Sunny, but, I have to ask, is his name Penrose? You see, an Englishman has been trying to buy the page from me and he certainly seemed like a scholarly type in his emails. He came off a bit pompous and grandly said, "Name your price" like money was no object for him. So, I replied with a reasonable figure for a document that could be several hundred years old. Then, after taking his time, he replied with a tone of outrage as
though I had offended him. It was absurd in a way. Buyers generally come back with a counter offer and you dicker a bit until you both feel like you've gotten a good price. But, instead, he wrote, "I'll NEVER pay you such a price. You'll see, I'm not a man without resources." Well, I wonder, whatever did he mean by that? And why behave so irrationally? Why not counter-offer instead of getting all huffy? If this is the same man, then, perhaps, THEY got into his head like THEY have affected Dale and Sam. And THEY are getting into my mind, too!

Oh my goodness! That sounds so completely paranoid, so utterly over-the-top, I can't believe I just wrote it. But, you know, I can't remember which comedian said it, but, it's not paranoia when they are REALLY out to get you. Oh my, I'm laughing now. Once again, you've brought some sunshine into my life. I hope you can forgive me for doubting your sincerity.

Phyllis

Email to Phllis re: my accusations

Subj: Concerned
Date: 5/21/2003 9:01:41 PM Central Standard Time
From: Prettycolors62

Dear Phyllis:

I feel the need to write to you again in the hopes that you will forgive me for going off like I did. I saw the news very late last night and succumbed to anger. Someone is working against me and casting aspersions on my character. I am in contact with a lawyer and have plans to deal with the Aglaura press so that I can clear up this awful mess. Something rotten is going on in Aglaura and it has splashed over on to me. In this life all that is truly your own is your name. I must clear mine. I will discover who submitted confidences that should have never been seen in such a public forum. These thugs will rue the day that they were born.
I truly believe that you have a right to be paranoid and that something is not right in your circle of acquaintances. Please watch your back Phyllis because Lord only knows what is going to happen next. I am going to keep my eyes and ears open and see what I can learn. I will keep you apprised of the situation. We cant let this situation get the better of us. I believe that whoever did this to us is trying to keep us from communicating. I have heard through the grapevine that Penrose claims to have had nothing to do with the burglary at your establishment but I trust that denial as far as I can throw him. I think that he is a bounder and a scoundrel. Well dear Phyllis I hope that we can move forward and get beyond all of this hopeless muck to discover who the real villain is in this story. Again forgive me for testing the bonds of our friendship by my thoughtless drivel. It seems that the strange behavior that Sam and Dale have exhibited recently is catching. One last thing Phyllis. I have heard that there have been strange charecters sited in Aglaura of late and have been commonly known as "Dead Eyes". From what I understand they could be dangerous. Do be careful wont you?

But maybe Sunny has been asked to this. You never know. It could be part of the game from the PM's. Remember, there is a mole in our midst. A mole the PM's probably planted, so the code may be PM planted too Laughing

Sorry dmax, just my thought.

No apologies for thinking!

That's a possibility as well...
I missed the mole thread - why are we thinking that there's a mole?

And, while we're on the subject: who were you, posting without being registered? Wink

Actually, Sunny posted this in code, because I advised her to.
She was somewhat leery of posting these e-mails at all, considering what happened to her last e-mail correspondence with Phyllis.

I convinced her to post it, but to then encrypt it. Regular active folks could then PM her for the password, new folks whom she doesn't know and therefore has no reason to trust, they would have to e-mail her. She'd tweak her e-mail acount settings and hand over the logged IPs to me, I'd then run a trace, if it looks like anything resembling the locale from which the PMs are active then we have our mole.

Now why/how do we know there's a mole??
a)The guides mentioned it, due to the fact that a dead-eye showed up at Dale's place the night he was supposed to come back.
b)Willingham made certain references in the Jerry e-mails, which don't sound right either.
c)Then there was the leaked e-mail to the Aglaura news section, in which an e-mail exchange between Sunny and Phyllis was put up..

All in all, someone is blabbing and we need to find that person and shut them out of the loop asap.

I must also point out that anyone disagreeing with this course of action, is definitely making themselves suspect. Our operating room becomes more and more limited, because of the presence of the mole. And that is something we can NOT tolerate, not if we want this whole tale to have an happy end.

One sign of effective game writing: Making the players feel they have some effect on the story's conclusion. Twisted Evil

If it's part of the game to have a mole in the player-base, do you honestly think you can stop it with any measure of success? Remember, the PMs are in control - even if you hid all player resources from them they could just write in something else aimed at the same result they originally had planned.

This board allows registered members to edit and/or delete their posts with some amount of freedom. However, it doesn't benefit the current players, or future players or game historians, to have substantive posts redacted or deleted. I am disappointed that this thread is now some sort of post graveyard and I have no idea what was originally here. It would disappoint me further to have to remove the ability for people to edit their posts because of instances such as this, but I think a complete information record is far more important than trying to game the PMs somehow.
