This caused Amy to run off, insane, and be more along the lines of the Hoody we know today and Alex to seek Jay's help in finding Amy because the last thing he remembers is the contents of 26. It's not really that complicated of a theory.

Doesn't this rely on Alex/Amy changing the dates on the tape? Which, I've said before, I really can't see the point in them doing.

Manipulation of Jay's impression of its contents in relation to the strange text message, in order to make Alex's situation seem urgent because they felt he would make yet another derpy decision and meet Alex alone in the woods in the middle of the night. Their plan was only foiled by The Operator, who slenderwiped Alex and Amy probably the same day they delivered Jay 26. This explains a lot of the strange behaivor of Alex and Hoody (as Amy) in Season 2.

Fair enough then, well I don't hate it, it's thought out a lot better than any of my theories, and a lot of other I see on here. I certainly can't see any holes anyway.

Thanks. I'm not really sure that its true, but it actually makes a lot of sense. I'd seen people suggesting Hoody was Amy for a while and I thought it was nuts, and I never really saw anyone explain how that could be possible. I kind of had this just pop into my head and realized it was the most rational way of Amy being Hoody that I'd thought of, so I thought I would share. It would be a pretty mind blowing twist.

This theory where it turns out Season 1 was a mirror of Season 2 in many ways that Jay never realized also fits with his slow transformation into similar behavior as Alex. In Season 1, Alex was going through what Jay did in Season 2. Alex teams up with Jay and then betrays him in Season 2, then Jay teams up with Tim and betrays him in Season 3.

How has Jay betrayed Tim? It looked like the other way around to me. Tim's been keeping this secret from Jay and yet still acting like Jay is totally irrational not to trust him. Even though Tim's been dangling Jessica like a carrot in front of Jay this whole time despite apparently believing that Jessica "needs to be dead to them".

I thought of an upsetting scenario: Alex goes to Tim's house to kill Jay. The Operator shows up, but protects Jay, because it wants Jay as a puppet, and has no use for Alex any more.

I'd be more happy if Tim went to the college and got killed/operated instead.

if alex wanted to kill jay he could have shot him during entry 64 easily (although given alex's aim probably not)

Are you implying Alex doesn't plan to kill Jay? He tried to kill Jay in Entry #52. And he's been hunting him and Tim down. Why the change?

...In entry 64? Are you suggesting that Alex could have shot him through the phone?

We have no way of knowing exactly how far away Alex was from them when he phoned them or whether he really was in a position to kill them at all at the time, so that's not a strong enough argument.

A better one would be the fact that Alex either isn't too interested in hunting them down or is awful at it, based on how few times he's actually caught up with them so far. Assuming he's actively hunting them and doesn't have something else that he's prioritizing, he'd probably never find Jay even with his location being advertised all over YT.

Well, he jumped him in 75 and brought a knife to hug it out with Tim in 77. It seems everyone and even Jay himself are forgetting Tim's heroic rescue in 72. I say who cares about Tim holding back 76? As Tim and Jay both even acknowledge, the footage isn't conclusive. Holding back the footage probably WAS the best move, as evidenced by Jay freaking out just as expected.

If I was going to "hug it out" with a guy who has, in the past, put on a cheap Halloween mask and beat me like a government mule, I think I might be tempted to arm myself first.

I mean...I wasn't sure whether Tim was going to answer that door or Masky. Jay probably wasn't either.

alex saw them there, they didn't see him. he could have moved closer without them hearing if he truly was that far away. using the element of surprise, yes he could have easily killed them both in a heartbeat, esp with tim down on the floor and jay dragging him
