You're ignorant if you think everything Slender is Marble Hornets.

troy essentially created the appearance of the slender man as most people know him, even if they are not aware of it they are attributing something to marble hornets as that is the first time anyone saw a visual representation of the slender man concept. it is the origination of what we know it as

I think VictorSurge would have something to say about this.

oh yeah i always forget about this guy

his photoshops never showed the slenderman full frame, they were always silhouettes, distorted, or too far to make out. troy was the first one to clearly show the slender man in full frame, whole body and face showing. if you can prove me wrong i'll admit it, but nothing i've seen by victor is clear enough

There were a shit load of slenderman shoops in the SA thread after Surge's original 2 pics. MH was the first vlog/webseries, but they would surely admit thelselves that the physical appearance of slenderman himself is not in their credits. How to pull off his appearance as a live action character, perhaps, but not the character itself.

Although MH wasn't responsible for this, even Victor Surge's original concept is different from the commonly accepted SM appearance. He had some where you could see him pretty clearly and he was originally supposed to have a couple of empty black eye sockets and some other facial features. But I'm pretty sure it was other SomethingAwful users if not Surge himself who created the faceless appearance that is now standard.

MH invented a ton of commonly accepted stuff about SM, though.

Like making people insane, teleporting, causing distortion.

Well no, the insanity was always there. Behold the precursor to Alex Kralie's drawings: http://tinyurl.com/kvgd9ud

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Spoilered because we're getting a smidgeon off-topic, but the original thread's images are mostly gone now and you can only see most of the photoshops if you use Archive. And even then the thread has plenty of non-SM posts, as it wasn't an SM thread. Does anyone know if someone at some point collected just the SM posts or the Victor Surge posts and put them somewhere easily viewable? Or something like that?

I will allow that Marble Hornets was perhaps the first depiction of the Slender Man to reach a wide audience, but the form of The Operator was very much taken from the SA thread depictions.
