Just throwing here things that come to mind about C and V. They're both roman numerals. They're both keyboard shortcuts They're apparently both magazines in USA and Finland (didn't know that). They both have something to do with mitochondrial...dna...stuff.
But my guess is that they have something to do with geography as fernandocarulli (10 of hearts) suggested. I just don't know what. I'm very helpful in the middle of the night.
The last sentence of Servant's email got me thinking that is the "Start at the poles" an anagram? I get something about "pet rats" or "Lose the stat part". Yeah, time for me to go to sleep. I'll get back to you.

Alright, I just joined this and I'm confused. I follow MasterOfTwelve on twitter and his tweets confused me. I just think I'm a little late to all of this. Could someone please give me a brief summary of what has happened so far?

More thoughts about C and V..
v (lowercase) in physics represents velocity.
While c (lowerase) is a constant that represents the speed of light in a vacuum. (2.9 * 10^8 ) [Kinda close to 28... I guess]
This would sorta make sense when taken along with the "If you wish to see.." line.
There's a couple of equations that use these letters. The main ones being finding the index of refraction, (n = c/v)
or the equations for length and time dilation which both use the expression sqrt(1-v^2/c^2).
I still don't have any definitive date but the numbers are starting to hurt my head. So I figured I'd just leave my thought trail here for you guys.

Liking the c & v theories, impressive!
So maybe the portals are moving (velocity) lights, which start at the poles....
kinda like aurorae?
Or perhaps wilh1206 will have to do that math! (looking at the Servants hint, it's probably the math )

Another way to look at "start with the poles" would be M E T R E
Quote:
decided that the new measure should be equal to one ten-millionth of the distance from the North Pole to the Equator (the quadrant of the Earth's circumference), measured along the meridian passing through Paris.
which would kinda fit with wilh1206's c and v??

that was quite rude! btw.
Spelling and grammar nazis annoy me slightly
.
Perhaps you didnt mean it in the rude way it maybe came across...
Tho it seems pretty rude....
Yes anyway im not dead.... Still here, still working on some stuff. I didn't abandon the game or anything...
I'm thinking about going over my page with a finer tooth comb and a UV light or something...coz well you know eyes closed to see etc... suggests something might be hidden on my page....
IL get back to you guys

An excellent idea! Please do.
I'm really hoping that you find something 'cause it seems to me that if our only clues right now are C and V, there are a HUGE array of different uses for these letters in MANY different applications of mathematics.
So far the clues seem to point more in the direction of geometry while the "close your eyes" MAY point toward physics. Of course, there's calculus on the page but I'm still thinking that what we're looking for something geometry related. Still doing research and stuff, so I'll let you know if I find anything.

Just a theory:
But could "Close your eyes" refer to what you see when you close your eyes which is darkness?
Just a thought that came to me.
Edit:
I looked up aruse and couldn't find anything but a Urban Dictionary term The act of arousing and perusing; mental masturbation with orgasmic ending; studying; enhancing the mind for personal growth..

The Servant is on twitter now

2nd 12th = 24? I am working hard such that this might be the case.
So, we may get something on the 24th and... math and religion??

This is an superb idea and fits well with the message. Fingers crossed that bit of inspiration will bring us some good results.
I haven't checked out The Servant's link yet so will do so now.

It depends where you're from. Metre is the correct spelling in the UK.

An idea on what c and v could stand for that I'm pretty confident with - we're not looking for both maths and religion together, but seperately. the math side of this was just to work out c = 28 and v = 12, and now we have these numbers, they relate to chapters and verses from a biblical text. Chapter 28, verse 12. I'll look into it more now and hopefully find something proper and more specific, but since I'm in uni right now, I thought I'd share the thought now as it might take me a while to find something while juggling seminars.

Good idea wastedtime!
Genesis 28:12
He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
Would at least fit in with the dream topic
