I can't stop thinking about it. It's just terrifying�to think what could have happened to them. I wish would have done it differently, maybe then I wouldn't be in this situation. Then again, I'm happy with where I am right now. But there's still so many questions. I can't just pretend I materialized out of nothing and leave it at that.

I still have nightmares about it�the biggest irony of all is that I wish I could forget it.

It's hard to recall what happened before I went inside the building, but I remember feeling lost, and it was really cold outside. I can't remember how I ended up there, I just remember feeling a sense of�anger? Annoyance? Betrayal? Who the hell knows. I just wasn't happy.

I remember walking in a dark hall, the only light to be seen was an occasional bright flicker from inside the door at the end. I could hear whispered voices the closer I got to it, and almost�crying�or whimpering, or something.

When I looked in, I saw a bunch of candles scattered on the floor and tables. There was a faint silhouette of someone standing over something. I could hear the voice of a girl, But I couldn't make out her words. I could hear heavy breathing. The figure bent over�.there was someone on the ground. The female voice took on a mocking tone. I didn't know what do. I just wanted to leave. I started to wonder what the hell I just walked in on. Were they screwing? Homeless? Druggies? I was just about to get lost when the fluorescent lights started to flicker again�just the thought of it�I still can't get the images out of my head.

I was first drawn to the silhouettes I saw. It was definitely a woman, dark haired, she was facing away from me, holding a knife over someone.

I froze. Before I could think, something else caught my attention, hovering over them.

It was a naked body. I saw chains�and blood down her arms�Stupid fucking idiot. I shrieked at the sight of it. I know it had to have been loud�Then I just remember running, back to where I came from. It was so close to the door. But then, something pulled me back.

I felt someone grab me by the hair, I fell backwards�I was being dragged back. The last thing I can remember was her whispering�

"You shouldn't be here"

And that was it. The next thing I knew� I was in the woods. Practically flopping like a dying fish in the middle of an endless ocean. I couldn't think. I didn't understand anything. I was aware of my surroundings�but I didn't know what it all meant. I just laid there�flopping around. Time passed�and it was like a fog was being lifted from my brain. I knew what a tree was. I knew the ground was solid, I wouldn't sink in it if I stopped flopping. I knew I could move myself. Not long after I was walking. But I didn't know where. Or why. I just shambled around aimlessly. I don't know how many hours it was. But I eventually came to some shitty old road surrounded by forests. It didn't take long for me to remember to not stand in the middle of it because some asshole almost ran me over. For a shitty old road, a lot of cars seemed to pass by me. Only one single car stopped. Thankfully, it was all I needed. And that's when I met Eve. She was so nice to me. After the "Oh my god"s and "Are you okay? "s, She put me in her car, no questions asked. (Not that I could ever provide an intelligible response to begin with.)

As time has gone by, the fog has lifted even more. I remembered how to speak. How to write, to type, math, and even some American history. But�then I stopped getting better�the fog didn't completely go away. I don't know anything about myself. Who are my friends? Who is my family? Where is my home? I don't even know what my name is�Then I can't help but wonder if I even had any of that to begin with.

I still haven't told Eve about what happened before I woke up. I want to sometimes, just so I don't have to deal with it on my own�.But I know her. She'd worry herself to death. So I guess this my little burden to bear.

As much as I want to forget�another part of me wishes that I could go back, and figure out what the hell happened. I know it can't be a coincidence that it's literally the only memory I had left

But, I'm hitting the sack. It's weird, but I kinda feel better after writing all that down. Maybe this journal wasn't such a shitty idea after all.

Most of them used a simple alphabetic substitution algorithm.

After getting to 'know' the character, it was fairly simple to guess that "jane" may be in the encrypted phrase. In most cases that made finding the answer simple.

Where "jane" was not present I assumed that the same type of encryption would probably be used so it was and underwent analysis to try and find a key word or phrase (usually related the blog entry) and then followed the same principal as before.

It really didn't take long to figure them out.

The binary, hex and base64 - they just needed a online decoder; likewise with backwards text.

I am still utterly stumped by the one with the bold letters etc. Not a clue what that one is about.

Letter frequency is low but the distribution fits with normal English, so it is possibly a scramble of some sort. Playing with a Railfence tool, I get this:

just add line breaks, stack the letters and read down vertically -- it should have been 48 chars in 6 rows of 8, but putting 9 letters in the first row makes the 49 chars work out.

It looks like there is either a typo in the ciphertext or a transcription error, which puts an extra letter into the stream.
