I don't think it was connected to the bible in any way, but it's also not just some way for him to ID the tape later, otherwise why didn't he just mark it "WATCH THIS" or something obvious?

It'll either be important (doubtful) in the end, or it was just something they were going to expand upon and decided not to for whatever reason.

Interesting at first that the name Joseph appears, but they specifically renamed Joseph to "Alex"; one of the few parts with a name change from the actor's actual name. Due to this, I think that your find, while interesting, is not applicable.

Those verses don't sound related to MH at all. You'd have as much luck finding significance in the 56th and 42nd chapters or episodes of any other series.
