Why else would the film take place in the same universe as Marble Hornets?

Because it's an extremely easy way to make a film about the Slender Man without actually having to make a film about the Slender Man.

Because that makes complete sense.

Actually it does when you think about it. There's so much content about "Slender Man" that what would they go with? Would they go with the original stories on SomethingAwful? Or would they go with the Slender games Slender Man?

Making a movie about The Operator is an easier way (as we all know The Operator is based off/actually is Slender Man) without actually having to make a movie about Slender Man. The Operator has more concrete information around him than Slender Man.

There's making a movie about The Operator, and then there's making a movie about The Operator that takes place in the same universe as Marble Hornets, as in Marble Hornets actually happened in the film's world. That's what I originally meant if you go back to my post about how I bet the main character would do research and see Marble Hornets.

Main Character(s) could be students at the school from 79 and 80 who caught Opy's attention.

I don't think its going to be that related to Marble Hornets

Most likely not, but it's fun to imagine.

I think the most MH reference we will get is them seeing it online, maybe if we are lucky they will find on a certain forum where people had found film locations and decide to check it out...and things go very poorly.

Yeah I'm feeling just the same way, I bet they will have cameos. It would be funny if the main guy filming in the movie rolls up on his room mate and asks what he's up to in a friendly manner, and the room mate is laughing pretty hard and goes "oh man, I found these hilarious kids on YouTube, they have this channel 'Troy Has A Camera's - I can't stop laughing" and it pans over to his laptop screen and its like, Joseph Plays A Trumpet or the Timman scene from Troy Moves Out. I would love a little shout out like that.

I would rather it be what M. Night Shyamalan did in his films before they went bad. Just be an extra in the movie, so it won't ruin the experience for the viewers who haven't seen the Web Series, even though the majority seeing it will have seen the series.

I just hope they don't get some models who think they can act versus good actors who aren't models like typical horror movie remakes. That's one reason I love MH is because they look like basic people you'd see somewhere in the open, and their acting is believable.

They said Troy, Joseph, and Tim aren't themselves appearing in the movie, at Austin Con

AGH! That's extremely disappointing. I still think an homage is necessary for me to really love this movie.

I don't know why, but I feel like we are going to see a trailer before the month is over.

I can think of a few people by name who would challenge your assertion that the cast of Marble Hornets (including one male noted for his facial hair) look like basic people. Since this is a found footage film, though, I'd hope they don't waste budget money on making the actors look ready to appear on the front cover (seriously, even models don't look as good as their pictures suggest). If the actors do look like models, well, a lot of them do in that business, so let's hope they can still act.

I do think my assertion was a bit too strong. I meant to say that the cast of MH appear to look like real people and not all dolled up which makes it believable. I think calling them basic was an understatement because they're celebrities now and I would know their face immediately if I saw them.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. They do look like regular people. They're not dolled up, and the only reason someone wouldn't call them basic is because they're easily recognizable now, but only to MH fans.
