[META] when a game is ending I do this: ^_thanks_^

I thought we should make an organized thread where people can thank everyone and anyone they want Smile

It is so much easier then having them scattered everywhere.

The list of people to thank for making this game work and so fun to play is long. So many people contributed so much creative spirit, time, and bandwidth to this game.

My own list:

vpisteve
the bruce
brienigma
extrasonic
DarkForge
inio

all the mods
all the ops

all the axon hunters
all the puzzle solvers
all the wiki updaters

...maybe I should just say....

The beekeepers are freaking amazing.

Thanks everyone!!!!

awe tnx *counting down the minutes until transcription begins again*

how many threads have there been now thanking people? Razz but true, I guess all those threads were thanking thanking specific people, but I don't recall there being a thread to list -everyone- to thank...

so umm.. I'm gonna copy of this thread's listings into the Creepy credits, mmkay? Smile

I would just like to say that even though I didn't have the time to answer phone calls, thanks to the amazing posters on the forum and especially the PMs for opening my eyes to another type of game. I never knew this existed (although it had only been for a short time anyways, right?) Ilovebees was my first, and not my last, ARG that I've played and I've had a blast. See you all on Xbox Live or while doing another game. Very Happy

I'll take the time to thank the Portland crew:

Archon, who drove me around more times than I can count, and got more axons than any of us

Origen, who could always be counted on to get SE Portland axons

SpaceBass, who is really a gentleman in person

Vector, commanding downtown and NW Portland

jes5199, helping us out with his mad topological skillz and resources

Ouroboros, hunting axons since Axon Day

Slacktron and Quingu, masters of nearby Eugene, willing to sit at a mall during their lunch break to wait for a phone to ring

ThunderRazor, because he dissappeared without a trace and we miss him

Everybody who paid for dinner that wonderful night at McMenamins, where everybody else had beer and I got lemonade (parabolic lemonade failure!)

All the weird and wonderful people we've met at the axons! Cheers!

And, of course,

Mad Cow, because his fancy automated-call doohickey got me the right question and answer... just before I had to cover, like, only the sixth axon of the day (the first call was at 8:01, my call was 8:06, and I got the question and answer on my cell phone at 8:04)

Angelo, for setting up the incredible communications system we had

Buzzkill, for helping me on the ground and for saving my behind after I accidentally gave my axon list to my history teacher

Aaaand...

YOU, for helping make this experience so enjoyable and rewarding.

As they say in the videogames...

THANKS FOR PLAYING! Very Happy

I'm about to play some HALO just to keep myself in the spirit. This leads me to thank Bungie first and foremost, for bringing us such a brilliant plotline and game experience, be it ARG or FPS.

Thanks to the PMs in particular, for orchestrating this so wonderfully, through the audio and the website.

Thanks to the voice actors, for getting us all so engaged in the lives of these characters.

Thanks to SpaceBass, for hosting such a wonderful forum community.

Thanks to everyone in this community, for working so well together and for making this such an enjoyable and amazing experience.

You're all great, this has been a fantastic ride. On to Halo 2!

I'd like to thank the Portland crew I was able to meet on day one at the Pepertree Inn. Wonderful people, who brought me into this game so much more. The puppet masters, for being so genious at doing this. The voice actors for being so damn good. The script writers, for being so good at writing scripts. Everyone who ordered the soundfiles, and Sinatra for writing Stormy Weather.

I can't really think of anyone specific as I couldn't physically participate in this game. Still, thanks loads to thebruce for the transcripts. I read every single one until my speakers were fixed Very Happy Also thanks to those who kept up the netnija Wiki. BIG help all around. I'd also like to thank all of those who worked so hard on all of the puzzles and the relays. Really couldn't have done this without you.
And, other than that, I guess I'd like to thank everyone in general for doing with this game what I was unable to. *salute*[/google]

Thanks to Jan, Jersey, Kamal, Rani, Herzog, Durga, Melissa, the Sleeping Princess, and all of the other characters in this story, for being people we care about. Or hate (*cough*Thin*cough*). Very Happy

Thanks to Robynn for her transcripts. They were invaluable. Thanks to Steve for assembling and making available the wavs and sharing the bandwidth.
Spacely...you da man.
Everyone who contributed to the wiki.
Wynn, for keeping the Rainier Company so beautifully organized.
Catherwood for her diligent topic updates in chat.
All the mods for keeping this forum safe and sane.
All the brilliantly funny and resourceful axon hunters.
Pita for rescuing the Sleeping Princess. That was fun.
Red Balloons for you all.

And now if you'll permit me...(I'm not usually one for posting email I send, but this time I really want to.) This is most of what I sent to the PMs to thank them:
Quote:
I am so impressed with the way the ilovebees experience was handled. Over-the-top-amazing from the very first moment when I read about the container of honey with letters in it until today when Durga uttered her immortal words: They're here.

How is anyone ever going to top this? I wasn't fortunate enough to have discovered the ARG genre until just after The Beast, but I've been a willing and enthusiastic advocate of it since. Always, always, always waiting and waiting for that day everyone promised would come. The day Beast II would launch. After all the false starts and nearing despair, it was so very worth the wait. Thank you so much for allowing us to share in your stunning prequel to the Halo 2 game.

How could any of us know how much fun this would be? Scrambling around to find the right pay phones, the anticipation of each new wav, the flawless story-telling…I was so deeply engaged, I was literally dreaming about it.

I'm sure Dana and Melissa won't mind when I say that the Sleeping Princess was my very favoritest character. Her sense of play and humor (All we need now is cake!) made me love her. Her pain and loneliness made me cry.

I knew absolutely nothing about the Halo Universe before this began. What an extraordinary world these characters live in. I'm very much looking forward to extending my contact with the world by reading the last two books. How can anyone get enough of this?

And what can I say about the voice actors?! They never, ever missed a beat. The emotional roller coaster these wavs sent me on was intense. I laughed, gasped and cried my way through them with sheer delight. Please convey my eternal gratitude and deep admiration to them all. This sentiment is doubled when applied to the writers! It's really saying something when you can get through a lengthy story like this and say that there is not even one tiny blip of a plot hole. The story is immaculately constructed. Writing good dialogue is an art. Writing great dialogue is a masterpiece.

I'm not a technically oriented person, but that doesn't stop me from fully appreciating the massive effort that went into creating this game. The real-time site updates and the massive payphone coordination…it makes my head spin just thinking of it. Everyone there is to be congratulated. (Now get some sleep.)

Highlights for me: Anything Gillie. She positively rocked. My kinda gal: a middle-aged woman who can kick butt and take names without apology. Getting my picture included in Elite Forces. Hearing the Rainier Company cheer that I made up on a squad wav. Finally having the voice-recognition software recognize my answer so I could make an axon hot. Interacting will all these incredible, generous and fun people. The assault on Crystal Security. Jersey's 'plan'. AND…I solved a puzzle!!! Sort of. I got one of the fill-in-the-blank wavs before anyone else. That was a major triumph for me because I'm not a puzzle solver.

Hardest part to deal with: Thin Kinkle torturing Jan and killing James James. That whole part of the story was just wrong. Thank you, Durga, for calling Gillie.

What a shot in the arm this game was to the ARG genre. Brought lots and lots of new people to it. How lucky are we that there are people like Steve Peters and Sean Stacey to provide us with a place to play?

I got to learn so much during the course of this game. For one thing, I had to teach myself how to use a digital camera; that was worthwhile. I became a much better game player along the way. I'm quite proud of myself for being able to keep up rather than being clueless most of the time as I often am.

Anyway, I'm thrilled and delighted…sad that it's over…in awe.

Bless each and every one of you who contributed and shared your unique and special gifts. Bravo. Brava. I stand and applaud you.

Now we know who they are, I'd just like to thank the PMs for this wonderful story.

All of the actors and actresses deserve a lot of credit, but from my corner I'd really like to thank the writers and designers, who so often get shortchanged in the glory department. (Full disclosure: maybe there's a hint of bias here because that's what my wife does, writing for games).

According to the credits, that would be:
Quote:
Elan Lee
Sean Stewart
Jim Stewartson
Jane McGonigal
Alex Irvine
Wil McCarthy
Maureen McHugh

A heartfelt thankyou. I know given the amount of time you had doing this and the sheer length of material that it was a _lot_ of work. I hope you regain feeling in your hands soon, providing they didn't fall off entirely after all that typing. Smile

I'd also like to thank all the Fireflies for all their help, company, discussions and teamwork.
