 Image Searches
silly question...

I know I can type something into Google and get image results back. But what if I already have an image and want to find out what the heck it is? Is there any way to do that kind of a search?

You could ask around, "hey, do you recognize anything in this image?" Wink Post a link and let the collective intelligence have a go at it.

My methodology involves searching for terms which describe the image. Sometimes it takes me on a side trip, such as when we were looking for the location pictured in a Perplex City card -- first I had to research architectural styles, then search for photo galleries depicting buildings in areas of France and Germany until I narrowed down a region, then found what looked to be the same set of buildings from another angle, and finally someone used my results to find a shot from the same angle.

Other methods include slogging thru the Image Bank databases, such as when we tried finding all of the stock photos used during the Metacortex game. Be willing to look at hundreds of images, page after page, waiting for human pattern recognition to kick in.

Depends on what images you have. Just search forum for your image category, post your image there ask for image info. Make sure you find active forum.

You can try TinEye for reverse image searching. It accepts image uploads and links to online images for search terms.
