Super-bombs? What are you talking about?

Covenant glass planets using their Plasma Torpedoes, which are magnetically-directed blobs of ionized matter.

And the explosions on the commercials, I am fairly sure those are occurring in space, not in the surface.

I wonder if the old teaser trailer should be considered canon. The one where the MC jumps out of the cargo bay, and you can see nukes going off all over Earth. If it's part of the game, then most of the planet looks like it gets glassed, but it may have just been for visual effect since it was such an early trailer.

Its part of the game.

Scumbag, I would rather you didn't post that here, though I am grateful you stuck a spoiler box around it.

Could you at least withhold it until, say, midnight on the 8th?

This is going to sound really rude (I keep editing this to sound less rude and it ain't working too well), but you have the ability to not click on it.

And come on, you basically thanked me for using a spoiler box, and then asked me to delete it until the time I'd post it without a spoiler box.

If I know something about Halo 2's plot, and it aids in me answering a question, it gets spoiler tags until midnight 8th. After release, I've no obligation to use spoiler tags.

Since the spoiler-boxed information was posted in answer to a question, I've both answered the question, kept those who dislike spoilers safe, and provided a method for those less offended by spoilers a chance to read it. Win-Win-Win.

I know, I know. I promise I'm not going to accuse you of being rude. I just thought that game spoilers from the leak version, even if you didn't do the leak-finding, was generally discouraged.

Also, I haven't read what's in your magic box of terror, yet. I am, unlike some forum whiners in other places, able to handle my mouse with a modicum of control. So I'm not accusing you of spoiling it for me. I just don't want that kind of thing happening to those with a little less wrist dexterity... You know the kind I mean.

Yeah. In fact, I think you're right. I'll rot13 it as well.

You know, the information that Scumbag posted didn't have to be from the leak at all, if you slow down the 60 second trailer (from bungie.net or halo2.com) you can see exactly what he described... He may even be wrong, watch the trailer to see what I mean.

Amazing ending, but the bit about the Flea is awfully strained.

He's a very small, simple program. His purpose was to seek the artifact, find its location, and reveal the coordinates to the Covenant. And he has to be small and inconspicuous enough to avoid detection by the Operator.

For a small, simple program, it's *incredibly* crafty. It manages to outwit SPDR and persuade Melissa (an incredible feat!) Then it manages to figure out the dire situation on Earth, with an artifact that needed deactivating. And then it manages to fake some voices, with sufficient individual personality and accuracy that Durga couldn't tell the difference.

This does not sound like the capability set of a small program. It sounds like a program that's far more sophisticated even than the reunited Durga.

Maybe we would consider him sophisticated, but the covies? Not betting on it.

From what we've seen of the Covenant in Halo, you could probably say that. But think of how you're discriminating here...
Reverse shoes, say you're a Covie Elite fighting against the Marines. You speak normally to your colleagues, and what you hear their Sarge yelling sounds to you like "Wort wort wort!" Considering they all run around yelling, belching, and generally acting like every in-the-trenches Marine/sports-playing-jock stereotype, wouldn't you consider -them- unsophisticated?

Perhaps in the hierarchy of Covenant, there are some sophisticated AI programmers (hey, if we can have 'em, why wouldn't they?) who brought forth the Flea for his evil purposes.

*delurks like the Circumference*

It is Covenant, though- their programming may be extremely superior or such- the AI Cotrana met in first strike might be the Door-Opener or something, despite its intelligence level. [Hee, Marathon joke].

I view the Seeker as a kind of an AI shell that was only programmed with three sets of instructions. So while it has the potential to be a fairly intelligent AI, and the "engine" it's based on (for lack of a better word) is fairly complex, the only thing it was told to do was very basic, without any behavioral programming. That's how I think it was able to adapt and communicate as it gained experience.

True, you can see it - but the spoiler info is what the object is, and why MC is doing what he's doing.
