Tim doesn't seem to be in a position to do anything right now, so my best guess for the next entry's content is:
(A) Tim finds the Ark in Benedict Hall
(B) A somewhat coherent TTA video ordering Tim what to do next.
(C) Hoody intervention. (which could be included in possibility B)
(D) Deus ex machina. Something like Tim revealing a massive secret, orJay randomly appearing, perhaps?

Not much to go on, if you ask me.

Everyone who says this was filler failed to notice a subtle, but HUGE clue in the conversation with the groundskeeper. Benedict Hall suffered a flood. Whatever the Ark is must be related to that flood, hence the symbolic name.

I don't know, I got the impression that the whole "looking for my friend's lost footage here" thing was just Tim's excuse to poke around, rather than his actual reason for being there. Maybe it's just the acting, but that's the impression that I got.

Yes, I agree. However, the Janitor reveals by himself that the filming department was in Benedict Hall and that is was flooded. That's the important bit.

Typing that gave me another idea, though I haven't it worked out clearly.
Tim was using Jays lie to go around and film everything. Tim now overtook the youtube channel and acts as a new Jay. Jay, in #77, seemd to be addictive to having a camera and, and had was overall mentally destabilizing, just as Alex did when he constantly filmed himself for MH. Alex's solution was – until Amy found it – to stay away from cameras as best as he could: burning the tapes, having no camera in the house etc..
So maybe TO's influence works right through the camera. Therefore, constantly filming is making things worse. When Jay mentioned at the end of season 1 that was now feeling and sleeping much better, it is possible that it was not due to his moving away, but rather due to his stopping in filming – though we have no clear conformation of that. There is/was also the theory, that TO can only "see" you though cameras, or that cameras act has his eyes. This would add to the fact that TO seems act strange when caught on camera. And with strange in this context I mean the slenderwalk, because the series established that he CAN in theory walk and move in a normal way (even though this might be because of early-installment weirdness; the head tilting in #80 could be seem as making us remember.)

I know they are evidences that contradict the relations I'm trying to form, and I therefore stop here before things get needlessly long (Wink). But I want to point out, that maybe, in the next few entires, we see more of mental health deteriorating effects of having and using cameras.

Hm. Is it possible that Alex removed some of the MH tapes from the Benedict Hall archive before it flooded and hid them - perhaps in Benedict Hall, or at least nearby? Hence "Find Alex, Find the Ark" - the "Ark" is the cache of tapes that were saved from the flood, but they're not where they're meant to be and only Alex knows where they are.

A good point. On one hand, Hoody is a crafty individual who could have decided to get used to how to covertly navigate the place beforehand. But it also brings us back to the question of how Hoody knew the place was relevant, easy to navigate without being spotted and overall why choose it as the place for whatever big thing Hoody had planned (finding the ark once and for all?). It puts points in Amy's favour.

awakeasaurusrex wrote:
- Could "the ark" be a phonetic abbreviation of "archive"? The mention of the flood at the film department in Benedict Hall and the potential of a film archive there that includes lost Marble Hornets footage makes me wonder.

This makes a lot of sense. The abbreviation part, the fact it's a perfect place for clues to be stashed, that it's somewhere Alex used to frequent and the flood makes the name ark fit as well. I think the top two candidates for the ark right now are Benedict Hall's film department and TO's realm.

He might not be able to afford the prescription any more if all of this sleuthing has meant he's lost his day job, for instance. If he can't get any more, that might add some tension to these last few entries as he gets more debilitated and Masky-ish. It might also mean that the final few entries become increasingly weird, as they end up being filmed by Tim in a Masky state.

This would be awesome. I imagine we'll get more multiple viewpoints of the characters in tense situations as well and wonder who uploaded the final video. Similar in style to this entry, only shizzle is really going down.

What happens next? No one seems to be talking about that...

My personal guess is that there will be a confrontation between Hoody and Tim in the Entry #68 hideout, in which Tim is aggressive but Hoody is waving around the pills, knowing Tim needs them, so Tim has no choice but to do what Hoody says for a while. And the entry after or before that will be Hoody filming Tim going Masky at the college.

I personally hope Hoody isn't revealed to be Amy at this point. (Of course, Hoody's coughs were pretty masculine-sounding).

The creators do seem to be forcing a lot of connections between her, Alex and TO rather late in the series. Who knows.

1. It's revealed she was dating Alex at the time of shooting Marble Hornets
2. Alex tells her he wants to transfer to her college and enter their film program, which is revealed later to be in Benedict Hall...
3. She's the one who "finds" Alex's old camera and suddenly TO is back in Alex's life
4. Alex tells Jessica that he's found Amy. Maybe he really did at this point, but didn't tell Jay because he still needed him.
4. The message with the address to find Alex is on the back of one of Amy's photos
5. These recent episodes actually take place at Amy's old college.

For someone who's been onscreen a grand total of one minute, she seems to be more important in the series than originally thought.

Some good points. Some people might see these as ways Amy could be a red herring but I just don't see that happening. Even if an entry was released showing Amy wearing Hoody's... hoody, if Brian was then revealed to be Hoody, it still would be obvious. He's just been the most obvious candidate for far too long for anyone to be used as a red herring against him at this point. Far too late. Anyone else has gone too long without a mention or appearance for it to work.

The way I see it, the only logical candidates left are Brian and Amy. And from my personal view, of those candidates, only Amy could be a satisfying reveal. I'm sure it'd add a lot of depth to Tim's character for him to learn that his old friend was Hoody all along, especially since we never really see Tim talking about his friend being gone but the fact that they took so long to reveal it was someone like Brian would remain silly. If it is Brian, I don't know why they keep dragging it out and teasing it. Everyone knows or at least highly suspects. Seriously if it's Brian, just reveal it next entry.

Indeed. And about the flood, anyone else think back to Entry #65, as well as totheark's obsession with water and drowning? Maybe totheark was there to see the flood and it stuck with them(Amy?). And most likely it was The Operator who flooded the place.

I am enjoying the path this thread's discussion is taking.

A copy of what I said in another thread, but is equally relevant here:

Maybe he only knows it like Masky knows things that Tim doesn't. So he knows, but can't remember, and tries to leave himself clues in his insane state, but when he "sobers up" (so to speak) its all cryptic TTA bullshit. So he needed Jay to be an outside party that could determine what that hell he was talking about. Thus TTA/Hoody are two different sides of the same person, ala Tim/Masky. I've been saying this for a while now, as it is a very fitting explanation for why Hoody wants the pills too. It makes a lot of sense...

Opinions. Every time I read someone saying they "got a lot" out of this entry, it just comes off as they're being overjoyed with new content and overriding the lack of meaning and significance anything actually holds within that content. I don't expect action every entry, but I also don't want 15 minutes of crawling through sewer tunnels just to have all that build up fizzle out with a boring and cliche'd ending that we've seen a million times in season 1. Wasn't interesting then, isn't interesting now. Tim blacks out, wakes up later and goes back to look for Jay. We don't know what happened during his blackout, and we never will know since the camera stopped recording. It was a meaningless ending and a long roundabout way of showing that Tim ran out of pills, something we already assumed had happened given Tim's bottles in his house all being empty. You can argue that, but I'd argue back by saying concreting the "no more pills" thing as fact is something they didn't need to spend tens of hours producing because it's not that important, and the entry itself shouldn't have been 15 minutes long for that reveal. It's not good storytelling when you consider how good it could be if they didn't let it fizzle out and went the extra mile to nail great endings.

Most rational people are not annoyed with the wait between entries. The series has shown it can be incredibly scary and move a plot along nicely (season 2) but it has clearly taken a dive and it is apparent to those of us complaining. Nobody expects it to change its formula, but there is a very noticeable difference in the pacing and method of storytelling between seasons 2 and 3 that some of us believe got worse. A lot of the "answers" we've gotten this season could have easily been inferred, not every blank needs to be filled in. We're not going to stop watching something we've invested nearly 4 years into, we want to see the resolve.

Just like you said, subjective opinions exist. Most of us complaining want the series to live up to it's full potential, most of the people defending are just satisfied with what they have given us as of late, a level others of us would consider "mediocrity." There are great entries sprinkled around here and there (recent jessica entry, confrontation with operator at alex's old house) but as a whole the product has become repetitive and somewhat stale due to trying to fit a story to locations rather than the other way around. They need to focus more on the story/dialogue at this point than anything else.

All I pray at this point is that we get a good end to the series. I feel like a lot will be left unsaid. My faith in a great ending is fading out, but it is still there. They need a strong finish if they want to maximize their ability to monetize the series further after it's all said and done.

As much as it hurts me to say this, I actually agree with you on several points here. This entry added nothing much to the plot, and could easily have been shortened down to 3-5 minutes, without sacraficing a thing. Too much build-up for what was essentially nothing.

I'll say it again. You wouldn't be as mad if this was uploaded like a week after entry 80. This could even be Entry 80.5.

The biggest thing about this entry I'm curious about is the "no entry allowed" sign. Starting to wonder how important the school really is.. Also, flooded Benedict Hall.. Made me think of "ark". Some part of the school where there's some game changing/ending tapes protected/not damaged by the flood?

Are you making ridiclous arguments as to why it isn't filler listing off a bunch of nonsense reasons? Nope. If you just like it, I don't care. It's the people going out of their way and listing utter bullshit to try to justify their reasoning's that make me laugh. If you like it for whatever reason, I don't wish to antagonize you by any means.. but making a large list of "things we found out that made this entry essential" is overboard.

Like I said (if you read that), timing between entries has nothing to do with the quality of the entry itself. Even if it came out a day later, it's still time they put into filming and editing this entry that could have been better spent.

It's far too apparent that the logic was "let's scout this place for cool locations. oh hey we didn't use those sewer pipes in the last entry, we have to use those by any means necessary because they're creepy" rather than "our story realistically needs to still be here and we need to go down into the sewer pipes because of (valid reason)." half assing a reason to use the location (ex. to fill in a gap that didn't need filling in) is what ruined the series somewhat during season 3 imo

So this keeps on coming up in posts but I want to elaborate my view here. I'm going to present a series of analogies, and then explain myself.

Alex's capture of the Operator on Tape = Eve taking fruit from the garden of Eden, i. e., the first sin.
Tim = Adam, has been tempted by Slendy from the start.

When Alex captured the operator on tape, it was akin to the devil tempting Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, thus creating the concept of sin. You may look at it, smell it, touch it, but consuming of it, or in this case capturing it on tape, binds you to it - you are forever a sinner.

Tim has been influenced by the Operator the longest out of any of the people involved - since his childhood. However, I don't believe he had ever caught the Operator on tape - instead, it was as though Satan/TO was constantly tormenting him - to the point where he was labeled insane. Through Tim/Adam, who resisted, the Operator/Satan found Alex/Eve, and moved on to an easier target - something with less resilience. And it worked - Alex/Eve caught the Operator/ate the fruit.

Here's where things are going to get tricky - Jay is, in fact, another version of Adam - here's why.

Alex clearly seems nervous about giving Jay the tapes from the beginning, in fact not even wanting to at the start. Eve would most likely have been nervous trying to get Adam to sin. But Alex/Eve gave the tapes/fruit to Jay/Adam and brought them into the mess as well - in fact, claiming another victim for the devil. One by one, (as illustrated in the end of what I think was Entry 22) Alex tempted each person involved with Marble Hornets - Brian, Sarah, Seth.

So now we have our protagonists, Jay and Tim = Adam, where Alex = Eve, and TO = The Devil.

In the biblical tales, time passes. Over the years, the world becomes full of more and more sinners, whereas there are few who are pure. Among them is Noah. Lets shake things up with another set.

Whoever finds the Ark = Noah
The Ark = Something metaphorically protecting the wielder from the operator (a la TribeTwelve journal?)
ToTheArk = A prophet, i. e. Hoody, who knows certain things in advance, but cannot find the ark by himself.
Benedict Hall being flooded - the start of the flood that wipes out creation, limiting time to reach the ark. (Hence why TTA gets so mad whenever Jay/Tim seem to waste time)

TTA, or Hoody (sometimes helped by Masky perhaps) wants to get to the ark. This is his utmost priority - get to salvation. However, to find the ark, he seems to need the help of tainted persons, i. e. Jay and Tim - as we don't know what the ark is, we have no idea how he intends to do this.

tl:dr I can stretch the story so far to fit a bunch of biblical analogies and perhaps provide a little bit of insight into characters - ie TO is the Devil and is corrupting people.

Sidenote: By saying TO = The Devil I am not meaning that literally - I am using the biblical story analogously.

Sidenote 2: Is all of this bickering about filler/not filler really necessary? I thought these threads were for discussing and analyzing episode content, not quality. Besides, isn't there another thread for entry quality?

I apologize that you view my theory as insane, out of place, or just wrong, but may I remind you this forum is not for one to put down another, but instead for us to discuss what the entry could possibly mean? As such, I do not appreciate your response to my ideas and would ask that from here on out you refrain from reply to anything of mine unless you can reply with something with condescension and more positive of an outlook.
