this cipher is almost legendary, i don't have idea how to start cracking it...

edit: we should find original picture with this cipher and compare it to this one from murdercase.txt

note from fbi website: http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/march/cryptanalysis_032911
there are few sentences that are repeating like: (TENE TFRNE NCBRTSE N CBE INC)
(FLRSE PQSE ONDE71 NCBE)
(CDNSE PRSE ONSDE74 NCBE)
(PRTSE PRSE ON REDE 75 N CBE)

i think it all can be usefull

comments from the mccormick family

In a 2012 interview by the Riverfront Times (June 14-20, Vol. 36, #24, pp. 8-15) McCormick's "family members say they never knew of Ricky to write in code. They say they only told investigators he sometimes jotted down nonsense he called writing, and they seriously question McCormick's capacity to craft the notes found in his pockets." His mother, Frankie Sparks, said "The only thing he could write was his name. ... He didn't write in no code." His father, Charles McCormick, said Ricky "couldn't spell anything, just scribble." It was also noted that although other contents of the victim's pockets were revealed to the family members, they knew nothing about the notes "until the local evening news broadcast a report on the codes" twelve years later.

Re: comments from the mccormick family

hi everone, sorry ive not been posting, for some reason it kept sending me back to forum menu

anyway - password for zip jumpedoverthelazydog

so far ive tried all the following:

Rail Fence Cipher
Latin Square

Caesar Cipher
Kama-sutra Cipher
Pigpen Cipher
Mary Queen of Scots
Digraph Cipher
Homophonic Cipher
Playfair Cipher

im using this site:

http://www.simonsingh.net/The_Black_Chamber/homophonic_cipher.html

I actually believe this is something to do with dyslexia - if someone knows anything about severe dyslexia and how that would affect how you would write that would be great

from what i can gather that would means he has used a key but then the answer will be sort of anagrams

Edit: a good site - http://vimeo.com/44119640

another one : http://www.anthraxinvestigation.com/McCormickCode.html

I don't think they want us to actually solve that, since even the special FBI division couldn't solve it.

Perhaps there's more meaning behind it.

It looks like they want to reveal secrets to us. Perhaps this is the first secret? Why did he have those two notes in his pocket when he died?

Re: comments from the mccormick family

this is what i have so far

this is complete gibberish - there is no code - he is simply writing as it sounds

this is how i discovered it

at the bottom is 99.84.5 5

remember he had just been evicted from his house

99.84.5 5 - this is the missouri housing charter - and basically explains that he has been kicked out due to the bank taking possesion of the house

now ill explain what he wrote

unepls encrsead lt
unexplained increase let
(he had a woman living with him)
(this is probably the excuse the bank used to evict)

sens ks en bse
send keys on bonds
(he wanted his bond back and has been instructed to hand in his keys)

it is a diary or notes - he looks like a crack head
as this is one of the last entries and it was only days before he died this makes me think its his diary or 'to do list'

there is nothing to crack here its already been done (most of it) the person who previously said its about taking medication etc. is probably spot on

and hows this epilepsy = xlyppiy = hes sort of semi pronounced it exlypy

Edit: i think your right cag, lesson 1 - even the most simpliest can become the most complex - it is how we perceive it

Did you make this stuff up, or do you really think this is the way he wrote?

Re: comments from the mccormick family

no this is for real

check the medication stuff and check this stuff and its all for real - he was semi retarded - not someone of any intellect without being cruel

looking at his pic he was probably borderline junkie

if there is any puzzle here its who killed him - the bank, the parents of the child he raped or someone from the homeless shelter - maybe a priest etc. but id say thats as far as it goes

i think our first lesson is anybody can make a code - not everything is as complicated as you think it is going to be

remember what they said about the sites being basic - sometimes its the best way to learn something

dont always think logically about a puzzle sometimes you have to think illogically as not every puzzle has been put together logically

I did some digging and there is one theory out there I thought I'd share.

These folks think that the codes are merely a way for a bipolar or schizophrenic person to remember their medication and medical history

I am satisfied with this explanation.
