Oh? So springtime is actually the plan afterall? Something tells me that this won't be super-heavily marketed. Which doesn't necessarily doom it, nor is it the end of the world if it ends up being a smaller cult film.

I won't mind, as long as I'm able to see it in my local theater.

Were we expecting the MH movie to be something other then a cult film?

[sarcasm] Well I was expecting a HUGE blockbuster film that would beat out even Titanic and Avatar in terms of gross income. [/sarcasm]

As I said, they won't release a trailer until February at the earliest. Most likely Late February-mid March we'll see the trailer.

It'll certainly be a small audience in the long run but ya know it might get good reviews and be kind of a like one of those popularish indie films, ya know for a little while, which happens with horror movies sometimes.

As long as it's good it'll be profitable.

I just hope it's not profitable enough to warrant a series of sequels....

Even if it's not profitable like that there could be a series of sequels....that's the sad part.

Wouldn't Marble Hornets be the sequel if its in the same universe? I'm not saying it is, but I heard it was placed in the same universe. Could someone confirm this?

I believe it is, though I don't recall where to find it now.

Troy said it was in the same universe in his blog I believe. Either way if the movie takes place before the series, than it's a prequel. If it takes place after the series then it's a sequel. If it's not really clear when it takes place I'd consider it a side-story.

That being said I highly doubt it's either a sequel or prequel. If I remember right Troy also said it's unrelated to the MH story.

Damn guys come on, don't act like/say you'd prefer if it were unsuccessful. Don't be selfish, I wish all the best for Trosephim, their projects and their future. You're really pulling an elitist/hipster fan attitude about it. The opinion of a vocal minority is nothing now compared to the fanbase they could generate with a wide release film.

What? I don't think anyone thus far actually said they'd *prefer* it not to be a mainstream success, just that it probably won't be, and that it shouldn't get turned into a cash cow that jumps the shark half a dozen times over before dying. Basically, not that it can't be successful or popular, just it shouldn't become fricking Friday the 13th, y'know?

I myself would love a wide release (in the event that the film does at least a decent job of living up to the YT series.)

Friday the 13th is a huge success. I hope the boys get a cash cow, because then their access to greater budgets increases and they can do so much more than hand cam found footage type of stuff. They are directors more so than writers, so recognition of talent will lead to many opportunities down the road. I don't see why it wouldn't be a blockbuster given its original premise and content and the mainstream success of other films of similar style (Blair Witch, Chronicle, Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity, among others). It seems like just the right thing at just the right time, and that has been my impression since MH began. The right guys for the job latched onto the idea RIGHT when Slendy was created and have ridden the wave to a big picture deal. With their talent and cleverness, this may be just the break they needed to become quite well known for their talents.

And if it does turn into a cash cow that becomes terrible there's a simple solution. Don't see the movies. There's also a simple solution for the shitty fans that you know will arise from this, and you know the kind I mean. Ignore them.

I would love to see Trospehim get propelled into the mainstream, just by their names being attached to this film, and then THAC take off hugely for us to see a feature length THAC comedy movie that trumps out all the "comedy" crap (I'm looking at you Anchorman 2) that's in theaters now.

Yeah Troy's blog said it was in the Marble Hornets universe, but it wasn't a story continuation I.E. you don't need to see it to fully grasp the webseries storyline. They said there's a reason its in the same universe though.

I hope its really successful. Heck not all sequels are bad frankly. The director at that panel really seemed to have a grasp of the importance of not ruining a good thing, so I have faith. It'll probably just be an indie film though. Either way I have faith it'll be good.

Maybe there'll be some kind of connection between Kralie's old film project and the new movie? Unless no connection between web series and movie means even that.
