I still think the most terrifying part of this Entry is that it hints to the Operator trying to actually achieve something.

Also, do you remember how Jay tried to tweet at Tim, but Tim didn't answer? Who's to say Tim saw the phone call and just instantly hung up? From what I know, if a phone is turned off, it shouldn't ring just once.

New theory: Hoody broke into Tim's house again and took his phone. S/he heard Jay's message and that's why they went to free him in Entry #78 and wrote the message about "Last chance." That's also why Tim never received the message.

Hm. The entry itself was really good, as everyone's saying, but I have to question its place in the series.

Basically, why wasn't this shown immediately after the entry where Jay watches the tape with Jessica on it? Why didn't Jay just upload his footage straight to the channel? It would have made his confrontation with Tim even more tense for us viewers because we'd know there is good reason why Tim would be so defensive and an explanation why Jay is so hostile all of a sudden. It would have made Entry 80 even more cathartic and depressing! And it would mean a lot less people would hate Tim because it'd have meant the reason Tim was so defensive in tying up Jay was because he'd seen this entry and expected an Operator-influenced Jay.

I'm legitimately trying to figure out why this entry had to have been placed here.

I find that unlikely. Tim specifically says that he doesn't remember getting any calls that day, which implies that he had his phone with him. If he lost his phone around when Jay was supposed to have made that call, he'd probably have mentioned that.

Alright, I'm going to put up my belief of how the chain of events went: Jay takes the tape from Tim and runs off. He watches it. Shortly after watching it -but before uploading it- he goes to Rosswood to retrace Alex and Jessica's steps (probably looking for some speck of proof of what happened to her or where she is, though I don't know what he though he'd find literally years after the fact). He calls Tim trying to patch things up. The Operator jumps him and does... something to him that makes him violent and unstable. He posts #76 as a justification of what he's about to do. He goes to Tim's house, where his plan backfires and he gets trussed up with his own zip ties. Tim leaves. Hoody arrives and sets Jay free. In between Tim leaving and Hoody showing up Jay snaps out of whatever state he was in, which is why he was desperately looking for some of Tim's pills; he knew he was in a bad way and tried to do something about it. We all know what happened from there.

The Operator interferes with technology. He fucks with cameras. It doesn't seem all that out there to me that he could block a phone call in the woods. Especially weird woods with weird shifting geography.

Although speaking of that, I actually don't think that Rosswood shifted, or that the tunnel teleports you, or that Rosswood is anything special. I think the Operator was following Jay and he just teleported him without him noticing. Also, is it not possible that the Operator literally teleported the phone laser signal things? Is that not technically completely within his known set of powers?
