Report from the NYC Training

Wassup beekeepers!!

Just back from the training and had a great time. I took my cam but didn't take pics--there's already pics of the swag (lanyard & dvd) on the Austin thread so it would be redundant for me to post that.

I know plenty out there wished they could attend so I'll try to break it down as best I can:

Got there about 7pm and there was a line, probably 50 or so trainees ahead of me. I heard there were some crew who got there at 2pm!!
They let us in the theatre and gave us our lanyards (which served as passes) around that time where they checked your name off the list and we basically waited on line for two hours. During that time we received
our dvd's; a few prepared crewman popped it in their laptops and we checked out the contents. Definitely a cool compilation of everything ILB.
We also received numbered tickets to determine our order of entry.

Got in the theatre about 9:15pm; 4 tvs right beneath the theatre screen
and we filed in. We heard the last chapter of today's wavs which also included one last clue from Melissa (more on that at the bottom, and I'll probably start a thread on it too).

The fun commenced with 2 trainees per tv set playing one on one on different maps while 2 lucky players went to the back of the theatre to play online vs. the other 3 cities being trained. On a personal note, I pwned the guy I played (didn't catch his name though) 9-0. Watching the online play on the big screen was incredible--especially with 200 people to enjoy it with. Definitely a lively bunch.

After playing, I got to speak to one of the cinematic directors (for single player) who just happens to work under Joe Staten--the true master of all things in the Haloverse. That was pretty cool--he was real enthusiastic and wanted to make sure we loved our little session.

I hung out for a bit after that watching some more of the online play and left before they shut down. Just for the record, I saw NYC winning most of the games although I'm sure there will be those who challenge this FACT. Raspberry

Overall, it was definitely worth it and I'm so much more amped for the 9th and the Midnight Madness event going down in Times Square!!

NOW for the important part--Melissa's last clue (which went so fast that I could be way off here so somebody please correct me if I am):

" X squared plus Y squared + A squared + B squared equals 1"

[SPEC] I'm thinking this is a code to enter somewhere in H2 (menu screen?) that will unlock something beeish... But then again I think we all received different codes in each city and that we have to somehow put it all together. Can't wait to see what these LAST clues lead to....

PM me if you'd like to ask anything specific I didn't cover in my short post above.... Wink

Daddy - Rose was there too, I was in communication with her Smile too bad you didn't met up...

quick review: the passphrase you got was one of 4 - each city got on. The answers formed another answer (there's a puzzle thread for the passphrase solve) which is apocalypso - leading to apocalypso.html (the NY clue was the equation for an ellipse, where the 4 answers made up/puck/ellipse/sew)

there it is in a nutshell... glad you had fun though!
