I think, considering the Herzog wavs...

Not trusting the Flea is ridiculous, stubborn, and foolish. It's like saying "well, I might have been wrong to hate the Flea so much... but I still hate him."

It's admitting that you're unwilling, despite fairly clear evidnce to the contrary to accept the fact that the Flea was an important and necessary part of the reassembly of Melissa.

I really don't mean to be insulting (despite the fact that I am a bit incensed at the implication that the Flea still remains a potential threat or vector for "evil"), but myself and many others have gone on way too many Flea-defending tirades to be COMPLETELY wrong about this.

Ahem.

Now, I haven't dug this up simply to embarass certain people (though it is a nice bonus) or anything like that. Hell, I've been wrong on 99% of my spec so I can't throw any stones in that regard. I was even wrong about the Flea (thought it was planted by Herzog, oh well). I'd only like to point out that one of the things that made this board so great was that people were able to share their spec in a relatively friendly, non-hostile environment. In my mind, it helped us make some pretty good guesses without the fear of being villified, mocked or insulted.

Of course, the game is over, and so it could probably be considered pointless to bring this up now. I guess what I hope people take away from the this experience ("experience" being the ARG, the wiki's and forums... the community at-large) is that it was so successful because it was an environment that that encouraged involvement and welcomed new ideas. Even when people ended up being wrong, it gave other people ideas or hunches that they might not have otherwise had. I think it's an environment that is pretty rare these days, and especially so on the internet.

At the very least, I hope people will think twice before throwing out the words "stubborn" and "foolish", lest it come back at them like a boomerang.

edit: damn typos.

I find it interesting that the flea manipulated us as much as he(it) manipulated the Operator and the Princess...

So.... do we call it now? Is this the final finale, or are we waiting for Dana to blog once more? Or perhaps maybe we'll see more of the characters in Halo 2 (a [spec] I heartily encourage)?
