[trailhead] Have You Seen This Symbol

I got sent a trailhead. Seems to have started about a month ago, and is pretty active story. Most action takes place on tumblr {I don't care for tumblr, and the whole backwards blog aspect myself} but there is also a twitter account.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was assured the 2 weeks was intentional and part of the story, and things are about to pick back up.
And that is the extent of what I know.

Hex code oddity and asking for advice

I also hope very much that things will pick up again if the two weeks thing is intentional, although I hope what is on there might be sufficient to do some pre-digging. However, with this being the first ARG that I shall participate in as an actual contributor, I am a bit hesitant when it comes to taking certain actions.

For example, I managed to figure out that the hex code name is, when translated,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
QZinc

but I couldn't find anything relevant through all of the weird information that came up on Google (most of which didn't look like ARG related stuff). I want to try and figure out that e-mail address using the hexcode name somehow, but I don't think I have enough info to guess the e-mail and it'd be pretty dumb if typing the hex code name into the To: bar would get me the result I wanted. So, does anyone who's more experienced have any advice?

I think I might lurk on twitter for a while ( not very familiar with tumblr yet)

re guessing the email @si might be worth just trying them in the To: line and if it doesn't work then no harm done.

Let us know how you get on and welcome! Smile

Okay, I'll try it...

I was afraid of this. It needs the bit that the dude had blocked out in his conversation. ...Let me try something...

The translated version with @outlook.com slapped on the end of it went through, although if outlook works like I fear it does, I might not get a reply because the email might not exist..... I'll keep you informed if anything happens.

Possibly using the same online decoder as Si, i see how it decodes to the above.

But I don't believe that that is what the PM intended.

The original code of "90 105 110 99 5a 69 6e 63", if assumed to be hex, decodes to decimal as "144 16 81 16 153 90 105 110 99" and to Ascii as Si stated above.

But the "144" in decimal and the 2 "16"'s in decimal do not decode to Ascii, the "81" in decimal translates to "Q", and the "153" in decimal translates to "TM" trademark symbol.

HOWEVER, the first part "90 105 110 99" translates from decimal to Ascii as "Zinc", and the second part "5a 69 6e 63" translates from Hexadecimal to Ascii as "Zinc", also.

So, the decoding is possibly just "Zinc" or "ZincZinc".

A lot of new posts on the blog. Weird mask guy and a new symbol.

I was searching the "illuminati" symbol and found this

Quote:
One decoding of this symbol is to start at the smaller inner circle, designating our normal state of consciousness. The square then represents the distillation of the four elements, with the triangle signifying the three realms of existence; such as body, mind and spirit. The larger circle is the end of the great work; an expanded consciousness. Note that the centre of the larger circle is also above the centre of the smaller one.

Source

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I totally skipped the alchemy part. That's a symbol for the philosopher's stone.
And the new symbol is almost like the symbol of sulfur

And just to throw it out there, you know what else have to do with alchemy? Zinc. We are dealing with crazy alchemists. Calling it.

If your alchemy hunch is correct, the new symbol is the one for phosphorus

Pretty interesting.

I'd say alchemy's spot on, since the other symbol is the alchemical symbol for zinc - I'm guessing zinc's the handle of the person who left the drop and that symbol was a sort of signature, based on the fact they then used it as their email name.
