[Meta/Easter Egg] Kamal and the Prince of Persia!

When the 11-4 wavs were first unlocked, I became very suspicious of a certain line said by Kamal in the earlier scenes.

"Some people think time is a river flowing in one direction, but time is an ocean..."

I immediately recognized this line from the game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. While it could have been a common metaphor, I decided to research the cast of Prince of Persia just for the hell of it. By the time I had a name (Yuri Lowenthal), I'd already made the connection.

Yuri Lowenthal played the Prince of Persia, but with a slight accent. That accent had been enough to throw me off.. until now. I suddenly started to remember what the Prince sounded like, particularly when he was stressed out as our favorite med student often is. By then I felt pretty sure I was onto something (Prince of Persia: Sands of Time happens to grant the player the ability to manipulate time, so you can see the interesting parallel to ILB).

I believe I first mentioned Lowenthal as a suspected Kamal a few hours before the cast list was posted on the board, but that's not what's important. An easter egg has been revealed, and that's more important than anything in the world.

Someone responsible for casting the ILB characters was probably impressed by Yuri Lowenthal's performance. A slight script tweak, and bam. Kamal gets to use one of the Prince's most memorable lines without sounding out of context.

Nice catch! Given that the line is taken nearly word-for-word, I have to agree that it's a definite PoP reference (not sure it counts as an easter egg, though). The actor himself would have certainly noticed and pointed out the similarity during the voice sessions, even if it had originally been a complete coincidence.

Perhaps there should be another thread with cast info, but I did note in another thread that Jersey's "we're in a band" thing was probably a reference to the voice actor, Zan Passante, primarily being a musician.

That is awesome. Being a huge Prince of Persia fan, I wish I'd've noticed it.
