RE- the abuse speculation: if true, his mom may not be the culprit; I couldn't help noticing there was no mention whatsoever of a father.

Although, I got the impression from Tim's comments in #66 that his mom just kind of dropped him off at a mental hospital and didn't have much else to do with him. Probably the bare minimum required by the doctors. Was that negligence? Or a way to keep him safe without incurring the wrath of an abusive man by contacting the authorities?

Possible. I only blame mom because there is no mention of a father figure anywhere.

TO probably has the ability to see someone's future. TO saw the potential in Tim's sideburns. TO decided to intervene.

Did anyone get an abusive vibe off Tim's Mother's comments in entry #60.5?

This is a very interesting thought. It makes him changing his answers a lot creepier and it makes me wonder about the significance of Tim saying his mother wasn't around to talk to in #66. Tim might have drawn in TO through his negative thoughts and emotions, TO disposed of Tim's mother but then continued to stalk him and torment everyone he knew including Tim himself. After all, he was a being of hated, drawn in by hatred.

I thought maybe the lack of mention was a clue; it wouldn't surprise me if Tim's way of dealing with an abusive father in his past was to just pretend he (the father) didn't exist. Which would mean never talking about him.

Hey, maybe that's why TO targeted Alex in '06; something about him subconsciously reminded Tim of father dearest, and boom! Eldritch horror running amuck.

The abuse hypothesis is certainly possible, but I prefer to think of Tim's mother as an overwhelmed single parent who sees her previously normal child descend into madness and is powerless to help him. My theory is that Rosswood Park is the first place in which the Operator entered our world, and there he discovered adventurous little Timmy exploring the big woods...and thus his cruel games began.

My only problem with that theory is the hospital record said the family was uncooperative. Mom wasn't trying to help.

Having saved Tim from one bad person he continues to make all bad people go away. I always though TO had a twisted sense of justice.

Counter-argument: If that's the case, then why did Jay become hostile towards Tim after being affected by the Operator?

Because liars are bad people? And we've seen that Tim is, in fact, a liar?

The fact that TO harped on about the liar thing so much gave me the idea in the first place. He almost seems to show emotion there.

Why all this belief that Tim is a bad person? We've only caught him out in one lie, and even Jay had to admit that his reason for it was sound. The one who calls Tim a liar is Totheark, and I have no idea why anybody takes Totherark's word for anything.

My specific challenge was to the assertion that the Operator's intention is to remove harmful elements from Tim's life on the basis that the harmful elements are not being removed after exposure to the Operator.

I never said he was motivated strictly to remove harmful elements from Tim's life. Rather he judges people he sees as evil. This worked out for Tim when it came to his mom but there's nothing stopping him from judging Tim's actions as well.

That depends. Who wrote "He's a Liar" and "Follow Me" on the wall in entry 60. When he followed the trail he didn't find totheark he ran into TO. I never said Tim was a bad person. He might not be. The question is does TO consider him a bad person. I did say his sense of justice was twisted.

Because he wanted Tim's $20
