Hello, anyone still out there?

I have a possible idea. A few years back an augmented reality game called Tokyo, can you see me now? was played in which real life people on the streets chased virtual online players. When the virtual players were caught, a photo was taken of the place they were caught at. The website is still up at

http://www.canyouseemenow.co.uk/tokyo/en/intro.php#

If you go to sightings and search for Satoshi there are four photos, with various Satoshi names. One of the photos is of a fence with a poster on it, and the poster has a number written on it.

I dont have the card, so cant test the theory!

So as someone who refuses to give up, I'm still in this.

I think this isn't related at all, all of the pictures are supposed to NOT have people in them because the people playing the game play on their computers and they're tracked by real people and then when they're 'caught', the runner takes a picture of where they were online.

I do think however, that the photoshopped image in the building window mentioned above is the same image on the card. I'm going to try to find someone in Japan who can check.

Also, when I was playing this card last year I started trying to contact someone in the Alsace region of France to find the location of the picture and actually talked to a woman, who barely spoke english but worked in a hotel in that area. Language barriers hindered us so I'll give it another shot.

To this day, I believe the best lead we ever had was discovering the location of the picture.

Just to be sure:

People DID try variations of the location as the answer, didn't they? For example, the location's name as written in japanese (katakana or romaji)?

I realize that this card has all but been confirmed as a "degrees of seperation" find the person test, but taking a step back and trying a different approach once in a while may prove useful.

PROGRESS!!
found a connection to France

I was at work in a mall just outside of Boston, Mass and a french gentleman came in and after some polite conversation, I asked where he was from. He said the Alsace region of France.

Of course, I told him about Billion to One and he said I should email him. The following is what transpired:
Hello!

Quote:

Hopefully, you remember me. I was the gentleman who changed the crystal in your movado and told you about the game that I was playing.

I attached a picture of the puzzle card so you could see it. The picture is the whole puzzle. As you can see, there is writing, in japanese I think, on the card. It says, "Find me"

Those of us playing the game are almost certain that the picture was taken in the Alsace region of France, and someone thinks it was taken in Kaysersberg. Do you think it was?

-Chris

Thanks for the help!

He responded:
Quote:

Hi,

It is definitively Kaysersberg. I believe the link I am including is the similar picture, much more sunny and in summer (the yellowish house on the right is obscured by the tree). Look at the profile of the mountain in the background with the tree sticking out. You can also see the white house to the right of his neck, matching window and beam on these 2 shots

I'm going to respond and ask some more questions, I'll keep everyone still following this thread updated!

Any news, Chris?

Someone said on page 35ish that Satoshi could be a model. I think this is quite likely, as I'm not sure how otherwise Mind Candy could have ensured he had no connection to them or their employees other than some kind of professional listing. I'm not quite sure how to pursue this line of inquiry but I'm hoping that by bringing it up again (if this thread's not ENTIRELY dead, which it might be Sad ) I might spark off something in someone else.

Also I finally got round to doing the email on billion2one.org...

I'm taking a trip to Japan in Summer 2010 and fully intend to take Satoshi pictures with me!

Satoshi Nakamoto
Bitcoin

The other day Tarim noticed Bitcoin - an interesting project in its own right. The founder/author is a mysterious character by the name of Satoshi Nakamoto where it says:

Quote:
He has said in a p2p foundation profile that he is from Japan. Beyond that, not much is known about him. He has been working on Bitcoin since 2007

Ah well, guess 2007 isn't early enough - perhaps he took his name from Billion To One?

I bet the answer is a Bitcoin address. Satoshi claimed he was working on BTC since 2007, BUT with how complete the 0.1 code release was, it's speculated that he was working on it for much much longer... and the fact that he wrote using British English means he could have been in contact with Mind Candy if that's where he lived at the time.

Maybe Mind Candy knew about Bitcoin before anyone else? Anyone know any employees that used to work there?

Find Satoshi podcast episode

Hey everybody. Been a while, hasn't it? Over 10 years. I stumbled across Find Satoshi a few months ago by sheer chance, or call it luck. Like many of you, I found myself completely immersed by it, but a little too late to participate. So instead, I made a podcast episode about it.

I read through every one of your posts here as part of my research, along with interviewing Laura Hall (of findsatoshi.wordpress.com) and Adrian Hon, the creator of the game.

If you wanna go on a trip down memory lane, have a listen.

Will be on iTunes before too long, as well.

Enjoy, and happy hunting.

I just came here to post this, as I'm partway through listening to it after seeing it on Adrian Hon's twitter feed. Really enjoying listening to it and a definite trip down memory lane.

We did not. Check the podcast above for updates, or this new video recently created by fan of the game:
