Sorry some of them are blurry/repeats!

More video to come, as soon as it finishes uploading...

Just jumping onto this! Seems hilarious so far Smile

Does anyone even have floppy disk readers anymore? We could be in trouble here... Also they were all wrapped in tin foil. Does this mean they're from ~the futureee~?

I probably should have waited to post the pics until *after* the video, but ...maybe? I have no idea! One of our fellow adventurers had the physical evidence, and said he would procure the necessary floppy reader. Hopefully we will get to see what's on those disks soon!

Video! Video! Finally finished uploading! Here you go, adventure with us! More video to come soon! (Though this probably has the better sound quality)

Frog Fractions ARG video!

Sorry, there are a few skips where I paused recording. Should have all the important bits here though! A more complete, but less audible video to follow.

OK, here is a rough narrative of events from the fifth.

I arrived at the entrance to campus around 2:30 (half an hour before the prescribed time). There were several people hanging out, talking, lying down, playing guitar, etc: the usual Berkeley scene, nothing appeared amiss. I didn't really know what to expect, so I took some video starting around 2:45, but I don't think I captured anything interesting.

At around 2:50, a guy showed up wearing a gaming T-shirt and a tall top-hat with an orange ribbon -- kind of weird, but not necessarily indicative of anything in Berkeley. Here is a bit of video of the scene at that point:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vxmaszsa47c5th0/Frog.Fractions.2.At.The.Scene.mp4

Eventually, we identified each other as both there for Frog Fractions 2. He gave his name as Dan (I think) and said he had been lurking on these forums. He didn't really say much more about himself. I asked him about the top hat, and he said he just "felt like wearing it."

At about five past three, another guy and his girlfriend showed up (they are the ones that posted the photos/video previously in this thread). At about 3:10, Jim Crawford appeared. No tricks or anything; he just walked up to us and said "Butts", presumably to identify himself, but we pretty much knew who he was. Jim was wearing a lanyard with a GDC badge, but it didn't have his own name on it. I need to look in the videos to see if anyone got this fully, but the name was "Riccardo" something, and it had the URL king.com on it. Hopefully someone can confirm whether this is the same badge he wore at GDC proper. He also had business cards behind the name tag, which he happily provided when asked. Again, not sure if someone already had these from GDC, but here is the text:

Quote:
Front side:
Jim Crawford
jimSPLATgoombas.org
[[Phone Number]]
http://twinbread.com
@mogwai_poet

Back side:
Twinbeard logo
The text "JCRNWmZiVE5DXGhfTg=="
If you hold the card to a light, you can make out the URL fragment "ad.com/eol"

Jim asked us not to post a picture of the card, as the phone number is his real one, and he said it doesn't have anything that we don't already know. He was also carrying a brown takeout bag, the kind you'd get a burrito in.

We exchanged small talk for about 20 minutes. Jim was not "in character" or anything, we were just talking as people. Some interesting tidbits:

-We congratulated him on his Kickstarter getting funded. He was happy about it, but said he was very tired from having worked on it hard for the past few weeks.
-He said that his GDC talk (on mystery in video games) was not recorded, so he's going to record it again on his own and post it online.

I have audio of part of the conversation. Jim shows up around 5:45:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n0jjvvd4vfqph4d/Frog.Fractions.2.A.Conversation.m4a

We waited until a bit after 3:30; Jim seemed to be expecting more people, but only one more guy (and his infant son) showed up, making seven of us total. At this point, Jim asked us if we wanted to go for a walk, to which we of course agreed.

We walked about four blocks from where we started (specifically, north on Oxford, a block right on Hearst, and then left on Spruce), so we were in a more residential area away from campus. (Jim was setting the route.) Midway up the block, I believe we were discussing the somewhat exotic architectures of the Berkeley hills when Dan (the one wearing the top hat) suddenly pulled out a brightly colored plastic pistol out of his hat, pointed it at Jim, and yelled, "Enough!" This is about where the videos pick up, so you can see for yourself what happens next. We were standing in front of 1829 Spruce Street, in case the address is important for some reason.

There are at least three factions involved in the scene:

-The top-hat guy, and the three in the car who are with them. They seem to be intent on protecting the timeline.
-The two people wearing odd hats chasing the first group.
-The man on the motorbike, from the "dark timeline".

After retreating a safe distance, we sat down to examine the contents of the paper bag. Despite the grease stains, it turned out not to have a burrito. Instead, it had a bunch of floppy disks and some other things. More detail on the exact contents of the bag in a follow-up post.

So all in all, a successful outing. I am 95% having a great time, and 5% terrified that time bandits are going to take me hostage at any moment. I should be able to get a floppy disk reader from my work tomorrow, so I'll post the contents of the disks as soon as I can.

Edits: Repeated passes adding details and grammar.

Here's an exhaustive list of everything (aside from the business cards) that we recovered from the excursion on Saturday. The contents of the floppy disks are unknown for now.

Brown Paper Bag: Looks like a normal takeout bag. It has some grease stains. While probably not important, there is a barcode on the bottom with the annotation "1 79594 13603 4". There is a heart-shaped ladybug sticker on the inside of the bag.

12 napkins, 4 plastic forks, 4 plastic spoons: Typical takeout fare. One of the napkins has a flower sticker with a ladybug on it.

A Wooden Frog Statue: It has a bug sticker on one side of it.

Flower and Cactus Leaf: They are real plants, not plastic or anything.

Floppy Disks: 10 Floppy disks wrapped in tinfoil. Most of them have some bug or frog stickers on the foil. Here is a summary (the numbering is arbitrary, I don't know how they were originally stacked in the bag):

1: Stamp
2: Flower and Ladybug Flower
3: Ladybug and Bubbles
4: Ladybug on Leaf, Flower, Bubbles
5: Ladybug on Flower
6: Inflated Frog with Bubbles
7: Dragonfly, Ladybug on Leaf, Lilypad
8: Frog with Tongue
9: Frog on Lilypad, Ladybug on Leaf (Also has a jumping frog on the back, not shown in the picture.)
10: Ladybug on Lilypad, Dragonfly, and Bubbles
The disks are all unlabeled. They each have the text "259E013" stamped into the plastic, but I think that's just from the manufacturer.

Foil-Wrapped Rosencrantz Character Sheet: It was wrapped similarly to the 10 floppy disks, but contained only this piece of paper. High-resolution scan is here. It appears to be a character sheet for Rosencranz in a role-playing game set in Shakespeare's Hamlet world, the sort of thing a creative high school English teacher might employ. The foil for this one has a ladybug sticker and a lilypad sticker. The lilypad sticker partly obscures the text "Jack HS" written in marker on the foil.

We also found this plastic sword, dropped by the second group running up the street. It looks pirate-y but has no identifying marks; it's unclear if they dropped it intentionally or not.

In summary, the most important things seem to be the contents of the floppy disks (unknown until I can find a floppy drive) and the Rosencrantz character sheet.

The sword looks like it's a tantō. I'm not sure if this is an actual clue, though.

I'm no botanist, so I don't think I can identify the species of the flower or the cactus, but that could maybe be relevant? The cactus leaf looks like it could be from an aloe plant.

Plastic swords sometimes have easily removable hilts; if it was dropped intentionally, there could be something hidden there.

The handle was attached by a single screw, which I removed; nothing inside.

I did notice a product number on the underside of the hilt: "Greenbrier International, Inc. / 186458-13590-094-1311". But I think it's just a plastic sword, guys.

I just Googled and the Rosencrantz page comes from this:

http://www.shiftingforest.com/gamefiles/Hamlet.pdf

Seems to be a Live Action Role Playing site. (See pages 43-44 for the Rosencrantz section.)

EDIT 1: After a quick glance, the text seems to be the same.

EDIT 2: There's another Rosencrantz section on pages 67-68. That seems to be what was dropped at Berkeley. No differences to the p43-44 version except for page numbers.

EDIT 3: I'm using the PDF page numbers here, not the page numbers as they are in the guide. [Pages 67-68 in the PDF shows pages 61-62 of the guide]. Confused yet? You will be. Laughing

There doesn't seem to be any difference between the 4/5 event version of this and the version in the linked pdf, except that they have different page numbers (4/5 version has 6[1?]/62 and linked version has 37/38).

Unless this has something to do with the 38 in eolo5387 (?), this might have just been thrown in to further weird us out.

EDIT: I've gone through both the twinbeard and twinbread sites switching out 38 with 61/62 and have gotten nothing. This looks like a dead end.
