[OT/Halo2] Halo 2 street date broken

The word is that it is one retailer in MI who actually broke the street date.

I've tried numerous Meijer stores in the south Chicago area, not one of them is selling it, and they all say they don't even have in to store to sell it if they wanted to.

I have secondhand (worthless, I know Wink

) accounts of it being sold by Target in Canada, and some Wal-Mart stores here in the states.

I also personally have several friends that work for EB and Gamestop (or used to) that are using their contacts to find out what's going on there.

I wonder which Meijer that is...?

(Meijer is NOTORIOUS for breaking street date on all kinds of media - not just games but movies and music also. They're really bad at educating their workers. Still, I wonder if this means Gamestop can sell it when we get it in...?)

It was the Meijer at 8mile and Haggerty in Northville. Since I live less than 5 minutes from there, I sent my wife yesterday (while I was working) to try to get one. They had already been notified and were not selling it anymore. But the salesperson there confirmed that they had the game in stock, they just couldn't sell it before 11/09.

My friend works at Best Buy, and he said that the box has been there for a few days, but the manager has said that they can't even open the box. She's afraid someone's going to steal them -- and you know they would.
