Well, key word was "can". Okay, you can survive with one lung. Can you survive with a bullet in one lung and a bleeding wound with no chance of any medical attention whatsoever? (Though maybe one of Alex's other victims was a doctor or something...)

Does anyone remember what Tim said about Jessica? That, whether or not she is actually alive, "she has to be dead to us?" Same deal with Jay, honestly. Once you've been taken by The Operator, it's over. You're done with the game, and are out.
Not applicable, because characters have been taken by The Operator before & lived to tell the tale.
You can absolutely live with only a single lung, but surgical removal is different from just getting shot in the chest. 'Course, obviously, you are more prone to breathing problems.
Last but most importantly, that picture was hilarious.

We never technically witnessed Jay, Tim or Brian get taken onscreen, so no, actually they haven't. No one who has been taken by TO onscreen in the manner that happened to Jay has returned to tell the tale, that I recall.

We never saw Tim get taken after being injured, but we saw him get taken in Entries #64 and #65, and again in Entry #83, when he was teleported all the fuck over, including the Slendyverse, Oppy Town, whatever Unfiction's hordes are calling it now.

I was re-watching the series this weekend and actually said aloud to myself, "I REALLY miss Jay!"
Now that it's just Tim, it isn't the same; Jay was our faithful narrator, and then he was just...gone
I am still hoping he's somehow alive, but I know he probably isn't and that truly makes me sad.
faithful? This is the same guy who didn't admit he was filming himself until TTA mentioned it and kept the contents of #82 from us. I'll admit he's more faithful than others but still

This is the guy who had no reason to mention that he was filming himself to us back then because we're a bunch of strangers who are in no way entitled to know everything about his life and at the time the channel was about finding Alex, not about him, and who kept the contents of a day he DID NOT REMEMBER from us. He wasn't even aware of 82's fricking existence.

This is the same guy who asked for our assistance in his investigation (i.e. the text before Entry #26) so if we were to properly help him he would need to tell us everything. Granted, we're aren't entitled to know everything but if he's recording himself much in the same way as the person he's searching for was, I think it's pretty damn relevant to our interests. How do we know he wasn't aware of #82's existence? It was found on his laptop. Meaning he must have captured the footage from the camera and transferred it onto his laptop, which would involve reviewing some of the frames or at least thumbnails given that the camera Hoody gave him in #78 was the same model of camera and uses DV tapes.

yeah, I just meant faithful as in he kept on uploading videos for us to see, I wasn't really delving into Jay's character there--faithful narrator is an expression.

I talked with an X-Ray technician today and she said that it was entirely possible to survive with one lung and that Jay's immediate threat to life would be coughing blood into his other lung (i.e. drowning).

how do we know it was his lung that was hit? to me it looked like his lower side, if anything it would have punctured his liver or kidney, in which case he is most surely died

Kind of. I like the character and all but at least he was killed off very late in the series. Plus we still got to see him after the fact, like in Entry #82. So it wasn't like he we never got to see him again.

I do miss Jay, the lovable dork
It's fun to think about what would happen if Jessica hadn't died, even if doing so, would undercut quite a bit of the tension. Jessica proved herself to be a lot more practical then Jay was and it's fun to think about her calling the boys out on their stupidity in entry #65 or just getting Jay to stop, think and assess the situation. (Plus, her just dealing with Tim would have be a very intresting note to play)
It's inevitable we'll see him again in some sort of footage from Marble Hornet's - which will be very bittersweet.
(Unless he really is Hoody from the future )

What a missed opportunity.
