Certainly it won't get this type of discussion and involvement, but if its less niche then that might potentially be compensated by a larger audience (that is, it might appeal to a wider audience if they can draw attention to it to begin with). There's a lot of discussion for MH but by a relatively small group.

Would it be the same kind of attention? No, but arguably from their perspective that's not relevant. Most people here will at least give it a chance even if it's different and while not everyone will stick around they'll still be able to get at least some beginnings of an audience from that alone.

I'd love to see them do more mystery down the line but I think they want to give it a break for now.

They don't want to get typecast, and I respect that. They don't want to be the Operator guys forever.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had another mystery or two in them. Or another horror/terror/suspense. But they should refresh before tackling it again, especially wehn so much of MH has been stellar.

Although I really like their comedy (my faves are the more dark and surreal THAC videos) I just don't see it generating much discussion.

"Joseph Listens to Jazz" is one of my all-time favorite short comedy films. I don't know if I'm the only fan of Kids in the Hall here, but they remind me of some of Bruce McCulloch's work there.

I think their comedy could possibly generate much discussion because they've never tried an entire series before. They have these little theme pieces and DOS-A-RAMA, but if they're working on an entire series with a sustained plot and characters to love or hate or both, they could make something of substantial quality. (I guess it won't be discussed much on Unficiton?)

That said, I suspect that if they ever tackle horror/mystery again, it will in *some* ways be better. Obviously if they're trying to just make a 2nd MH they probably won't succeed, but nonetheless going in having learned from some of the things that went wrong with MH (not to mention going in with a planned arc from the beginning rather than only developing the arc after the entire first season's done with) might make for improvements in some regards.

I think that a series that focuses more on the mystery than the horror would do really good, and is something I'd happily watch. However, judging from their recent shorts, comedy is probably the next direction they're going to head in.

I think if they ever were to do another horror/mystery, the main difference would be that it wouldn't be in the ARG style. It would be regular fiction, for lack of a better term. Without the pretense of the events happening in the same reality as ours, the schedule would be much more regular (even if it wasn't more frequent). For example, there wouldn't be any dicking around with IG time vs. OOG time. Or whining about "nothing happened; why'd they post this?"

Actually, the last two sentences up there are about audience reaction rather than series content, so I may be on a completely different tangent.

I guess what I'm saying is that it would be more like a regular TV show, so even if it was a horror series, reasonable people wouldn't compare it to Marble Hornets, because it just isn't the same

When talking about MH's popularity you have to remember that part of that is because it's a Slenderman series. You can find MH fairly easy through a simple search for Slenderman. As much as Slenderman has been blasted out to the four corners of the web, of course a series containing the character would be popular.

Anything from THAC now not dealing with MH/Slenderman will be less popular to start with because I'm sure there is a chunk of MH fans, who aren't THAC fans for whatever reason (don't like the content, don't know THAC exists, etc) so it's going to be kind of a marketing thing. If they want fans to climb over each other for a new episode like with MH, they'd probably go with a drama-based series. If they did a comedy, I think it'd be funny and a great concept to constantly break the fourth wall and really interact with fans more so than they did with MH. It'd be easier with a comedy too because you wouldn't have to worry about giving away plot-points as much.

So, apparently Once Upon A Time will feature characters from Frozen?

I did see some of the first season when it aired, but wasn't really impressed (having a humanised fairy tale evil queen character sounded really intresting), but am intrigued by this development to check out the next season.

Although surely The Snow Queen would be a better fit for the show, given that it IS an actual fairy tale?

So I just felt the need to thank you all, despite all our arguing, we are at least a decently intelligent community. Recently got actually into Grimm, and decided to find a community discussion board for it. Let's just say I felt my IQ drop with every thread I read. Really made me appreciate unfiction.

edit: Holy crap didn't even see Jordan's post, allowing this to be slightly on topic!

I'll watch OUAT once they bring Rosalina in as a character.

Hm.

I prefer the 2DS to the 3DS or 3DS XL.

Anyone else play Guild Wars 2? I'd love to play in-game with some UF people.

I got my 3ds at christmas when my brother got a better one for christmas. I recently got Pokemon Y, and I'm enjoying it so far. Excited to get Alpha Sapphire this winter.
