Did you all get abducted?! Cmon, this is kinda scaring me. A lot of us downloaded the files from the floppies. stinky.arj. Encrypted. It's right there. It's possible to solve. The password has to be somewhere among the loose ends I've listed out here.

"Encryption is not supported for this archives"... gah! The .arj files don't even work for me. Anyone know what might be the problem? It doesn't even ask for a password. I just go to the Bug.Porn.zip, access stinky.arj, then click on stinky.mp4, and it goes and asks me where stinky.a01 is. I mean wtf, it's RIGHT THERE! There next to the arj file. I can't link the damn thing, so I extract the files and go like, THERE, .arj! THERE IT IS. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?! And that's when it happens. It goes "Encrytion is not supported blahblabhalbha". I tried with the stinky.arj I extracted, but there's no arrow shape next to the mp4 anymore. yknow. The --> thing. After the * thing. The arrow's not that. It's supposed to be there!. How does extracting it make that disappear?! anyway, I click the mp4 and YEAH. ENCRYPTION NOT SUPPORTED. OKAY.

Also, how the hell did you guys read what's on the blackboard? In the end of the kickstarter video with the talk about 3 seconds and all that. Even with the 720p video on youtube, there is no way anyone could read that. Is there a particular image with a better quality view of the blackboard?

This is the first time I think I've got into an ARG while it's still ongoing, and I gotta admit. It's pretty fun!

Anyway, thanks to bnm, we know the password either has special (non-number, non-letter) characters, or has 8 or more characters. I have ideas like "mandelbrot" or whatever. If only I knew where I even type the password.

And what was that all about the Kernal of Truth audio? It's a bit complicated.

Read through the rest of the thread. You need to use a command-line archiving tool like ARJ32 for the ARJ files.

Kickstarter Page info search

I kinda dropped off of doing this because I was going to wait for the brute forcing to be done, but then I kinda got sidetracked with school and stuff too. But I just thought to look at the kickstarter page again, there are some interesting things to note about it:

There is a ton of stuff we could possibly research about the opening of the page, checking that it might be accurate, or if they tie together in any ways stuff like that.
In the FAQ, in reply to "What if I buy a bunch of crappy indie games looking for Frog Fractions 2 and regret it afterwards?"
he says
"Unfortunately I will only refund the purchase in which you guessed correctly."
Which means that there might be some stuff we actually have to buy to find this.
And the last answer in the FAQ is
"As of this writing, no games are Frog Fractions 2 yet. Your sense of wonder gets to kick in exactly when the project is funded, and no earlier."
Meaning that our sense of wonder should be kicked in. Of course, our wonder has been going wild, but I thought this might worth bringing up.

Also, I went and tried my best to write a transcript of the video to help us in any way with something we may have missed. I've put some notes at the end for things I thought of while going through my many times.

Hunter: Hi, my name's Hunter.
Amy: And I'm Amy. Together, we run the...
Amy and Hunter: Ashby Brewery and Indie Game Studio!
Hunter: Two years ago, we changed the face of edutainment, with the critically acclaimed, Frog Fractions.
Amy: Annabelle Santorum of Didactics UK called it, and I quote, "Absolutely the best way to teach your child about fractions!"
Hunter: And premiere educational resource, Giant Bomb, called us URL of the year.
Amy: But despite our success, fractions remain one of the least understood representations of numerical value amongst children age 8 to 12.
Hunter: We've got a plan to fix this, but it won't work without your help. -your help. -your help. -your help.
[Frozen video, buzzing sound]
Amy: [middle of speaking, but clip is too short and quick to understand]

Voice 1: I've hijacked[?] the input screen, ready?[?]
Voice 2: We're sending this message from the year 2023. We've studied the phenomena for [input games?] And though we've made some sense of it, we're [unintelligible] math to the decay used faster than we can burn it.

Amy: Partisinal draggy ceiling-eiling-eiling

Voice 2: We're sending back this message to [unintelligible] that may make the difference [unintelligible] We think that-

Hunter: There will be three difficulty levels: Easy, Easy, Easy, and Extreme.

Voice 1: [unintelligible] I have lost the connection briefly. We've got about 30 seconds, if we're lucky.
Voice 2: It's too late for our timeline, but it may not be for yours. [unintelligible]
Voice 1: No, I guarantee you, I will not be held account-
Voice 2: Of course not, at this point all we can do is hope that the math holds up.

Hunter: -bought Frog Fractions 1 for your child, but were unsatisfied with his or her standardized test scores, you will of course receive a copy of Frog Fractions 2, absolutely free of charge.

[Enter people from the future]

Dude with Hat(DwH): Aloha.
Hunter: Who are you guys?
DwH: We come from the future.
Amy and Hunter: The future??
DwH: Backers, we have an important message for you at this most critical point in the development of your young child's minds. You see, the human brain before the age of 12 is highly plastid, meaning that it can learn much more ra-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a

Face: [unintelligible] broadcast window is short, so listen carefully. The last 4 digits of the[or this?] page viewcount must use 451.

Amy: Wait so you guys are from the future.
DwH: Yes.
Amy: Does iTunes just keep getting worse?
DwH: Yes.

Face: 0451. The enormity of this request cannot be conveyed over this data channel. Godspeed.

Hunter: Well, you heard it here first, if your child doesn't understand fractions, then he or she is doomed to a life of innumeracy. Just ask these guys.
DwH: Trust us, we are from the future. For example, I know grandpa here is about to start playing the guitar.
Hunter: So pledge today.

The Ashby Brewery and
Indie Game Studio Is:

Hunter S. Gunderson
Amy Rengstorff

Time Travelers:
Nix Barnett
Brian Murphy
Amelia Grace

Frog Fractions 2
Your child's holy hope for a future!

Thanks for watching!

Past Dude with Hat: Ladies and Gentlemen of the future I bring you a message of the utmost importance
Guy writing on chalkboard: Three seconds!
PDwH: Three sec-

---

Misc. Notes:

Calculus book on the piano, can't see any specifics of it
In the "UNDERSTANDING (8-12yrs)" chart, fractions rank less understood than "IEEE 754 floating point"
One timeline from the future is from 2023, twinbread.com is copyright 1863, exactly 160 years apart.
Maybe someone should contact the Ashby Brewery and Indie Game Studio and claim that we are unsatisfied with some SAT scores to possibly get a free copy of Frog Fractions 2?
It seems like there are 5 different time... eras going on in this video:
Current, the one we are living in, where the Ashby Brewery and Indie Game Studio are doing stuff
A future timeline in 2023, where they effected the video, overwriting the video and audio at certain points. I'm going to try and capture the various images they showed during their broadcast, there's some interesting stuff in there. I think I saw them playing a classic version of Prince of Persia?
Possibly a different future timeline, year unknown, where they physically went to our timeline and interacted with us. Amy and Hunter being 'us', this era's representation to them.
Presumably another different future timeline, though not confirmed, who also hijacked the video. But instead of entirely replacing the footage, it was some weird thing of like, using the colors and images from the original video and using the motion and some details from where/whenever he is from for his message. There was no actual mention of this guy being from the future though, I thought that might be important to mention.
And finally, the past timeline which we may be able to assume is from 1863.

Those are the pants and gauntlets from Havel's armor set in Dark Souls 2. He's using a "boxing" build. Now someone just needs to make a Sleepless Bill Bishop and challenge him in PVP...

Yeah, I was busy with real life stuff, but I'm back now.
There must be something we're missing.

The password couldn't be anything as obvious as Kernal Of Truth or kernaloftruth, could it?

This is not a real thing, unfortunately. There is an AshbyBrewery Twitter account, but it is inactive.

KernelOfTruth and variants are a no-go for the password as best I can tell.

I too am frustrated by our collective lack of progress. There has to be something that we are missing.

Might I suggest that the password might be BUTTSBUTTSBUTTS... repeated an amount of times? Seems likely, given the name of the arj and all the BUTTS references.

Welp, I've tried BUTTSBUTTSBUTTS onward and buttsbuttsbutts onward until arj broke because the password was too long, and both are not the password.

Hello? Anybody there? We're halfway off the main page, we sure don't want to fall onto page 2.

We should probably avoid using unar to try and crack the stinky.arj file as the website claims it doesn't support multi-part arj files.
