 		Yesterday after AS36 came back with the bootloader input, after a couple of hours it changed back again to the "Abism song" that Xkeeper has kindly decoded, with the same PSK as before Sad
Controller is now giving its standard "Melter! bipbipbipbipbip BOOP" message as it always has, but this is now followed immediately with "Please enter bootloader identification" and prompt to re-enter a bootloader.

We don't know why this is, as the new bootloader was entered correctly and AS36 previously came back up successfully already.

ExcitingBooks posted a new book this morning "Phone Boxes of Swakopmund" which has a different number on the barcode than we've seen recently.





The number is 6 140600 103337. This number was previously used on the barcode for "Upper Michigan Phone Booths: A Pictorial Guide" by ExcitingBooks on March 10th.

This book is apparently by the same author (Chad Newman) as "Phone Boxes of Swakopmund". I guess this guy likes phone booths?

"3337" is also the last 4 digits of the Controller phone number.

I used "ClearImage Free Online Barcode Reader / Decoder"

and got the bar code to read the same as the alphanumber: 6140600103337

 		The barcode on the image isn't very good quality (too small), so I guess I shouldn't be surprised it got it wrong.

Anyway, we've seen that barcode before:

 		We eavesdropped on a 3rd conference call this morning between Robert, Nick, Josh and a guy from Emtanon called Davis (or possibly David).

Most important point is that we discovered why the bootloader didn't properly reboot AS36 - I entered the wrong bootloader ID (as it wasn't printed on the paper). Robert blurted out the correct bootloader ID (which is contained in a "blue book", also referred to as the "tides book" - probably this one from ExcitingBooks - https://twitter.com/excitingbooks/status/414220206177677312/photo/1), so after the call I was able to re-enter the bootloader properly. This brought AS36 back up again Very Happy

We checked several of the usual agent codes on AS36.

22 now has a slight extra bit at the beginning. "This is one of your many many very very, very much very, very very very last warnings". Two "many many"s in there now, nice grammar Very Happy

There is also a new message on "Robbybox" (Robert's secret voicemail that he was using to communicate with us while he was on the run):

Other interesting stuff from last night:

Agent code 9999 is way to dial Iridium handsets through a "two-step" process.

 		The agent codes for field agent instructions have changed since yesterday.


16041 (Ai's instructions number) says "Electoral Area A".

We believe this is a reference to the ExcitingBook "Worm Species of Electoral Area A". This book was originally uploaded with a barcode number that could be used as UTM coordinates, but after it was posted about here, the book was removed and then changed and re-uploaded without these numbers. There was a second book with the same numbers ("Worm Habitats of the Oregon Trail") that was deleted and not re-uploaded. I've been attempting to find someone to visit these coords for a few weeks, but as it's in the middle of nowhere, I've not had any luck. Now that it looks like this is a legit drop, and we think we know what someone has to look for (tides book), we are trying again to find someone to go there.

The nearest town is Hermiston, Oregon. Pendleton, OR, and Kennewick, WA are also reasonably close. If anyone knows someone adventurous in this area who's happy to go poke around a remote cemetery, please let us know ASAP.

Important points:

- while Robert & Nick wait for Emtanon to join the call, there's interesting sounds in the background - tones, beeps, clicks and a computerised voice. We can definitely hear the voice say "at the tone, five hours and fifty one minutes" (and a minute later "five hours and fifty-two minutes") and then something else before a loud beep, so it's probable that it's just a speaking clock of some kind (as this part of the call was recorded at 0551 UTC).


Hi there; I just discovered this game this morning, and I have a lot of reading to do because....DAYum guys. But I thought I'd help you out with this if anyone's still curious.

What you describe here is the transmission of a radio station called WWV, which continuously (all the time, every day, forever) broadcasts the "official" US government time (AT THE TONE, * HOURS, ** MINUTES, COORDINATED UNIVERSAL TIME) on kHz 2500, 5000, 10000, 15000, and 20000 from a transmitter in Boulder. Extremely useful for testing your radio and finding out which band you're getting best at any given time of day. It can be heard throughout CONUS in varying quality, and station WWVH provides the same function in Hawaii. It can also be phoned at 303-499-7111, which is a local Boulder, CO number (not toll-free); you can listen to the live automated broadcast, but it will hang up on you after a couple of minutes. The broadcast itself is complex (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWV_(radio_station) ), but it is an official government transmission and I wouldn't expect it to have anything to do with the ARG; unless perhaps the specific times included in the call were important (as numbers; i.e., 0551, 0552, whatever). It does serve to prove that the call was live and not a recording.

drawbars and I waited for the HF transmission today of the "administrative message" that was mentioned in yesterday's AS27 message. However, we heard nothing at all. We waited 20 minutes but heard only static.

After that I checked AS27 again and there was a new message.

 		For what it's worth, I'll try to listen in too, if I can find the correct frequency (I'm reading through your guys' wiki right now so I assume I'll come across it there). But my radio is smallish and I live down on the gulf coast in a place which seems to be away from most of the game's area of operation, so I don't know how well I'll be able to receive it.

It'd be killer if the PM gave out QSL cards after this game ends - not that I want it to anytime soon. Smile
