Again, what's the problem?

It's the final entry. The only ones left are Alex and Tim. There's likely to be a conflict between the 2. So I was wondering who people were rooting for. That's all I was asking.

the Problem is you calling #85 the final entry.

edit:youre calling its gonna be a Showdown between Alex and Tim and it being a final thing, allthough you actually dont know shit.do you know more than any of us?i dont think so.people like you really get me angry, probably because youre trolling on purpose.

Posting it here, since it's about the next entry. New Kickstarter update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/troywagner/marble-hornets-season-3-dvd/posts

In other news, in case you missed it, Entry #85 was posted a few days ago, and has been getting great feedback. It's one of those entries that we're going to have plenty to talk about during the DVD commentary. We'll be jumping right back to work on Monday getting the next entry shot, too! We're aiming to have it ready in less than a month this time. Fingers crossed.

Looks like Troy is a skeptic in real life. He liked this post on facebook:

Kickstarter Update #10

For those who were disputing whether Trosephim's next series would be more mystery/horror or more comedy, kiss and be kind: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/troywagner/marble-hornets-season-3-dvd/posts/853600.

Interesting, looks like no one was exactly wrong here. I'm not sure if they'll hit 70k in the last week, to me they'd rely more on existing pledges to upgrade. It's exciting to see they're in the early stages now but I hope it doesn't take way from the last stretch of MH as I imagine there's plenty to do.

Jarring to go straight to comedy? Well unless Troy did a found footage movie before MH when he was younger, Marble Hornets must have been an entirely new experience to him. I think if they took a risk and dived into something new like comedy (although given that they've already experimented with and in my opinion triumphed with it on THAC) it would be more refreshing experience both for us as fans of theirs and them as writers. I'm in no way opposed to this new horror/mystery series. By the sounds of this new kickstarter update I'm sensing an ARG-crowd participation aspect to it. I may be wrong but this new horror needs to be different from MH if it's to do well. They need to abandon the found footage medium and find new ways to tell the story. We may in store for a traditionally shot series like the THAC videos but I'd love to see THAC harness social media the way they did with MH. I'm excited but I'm not sure if they can run both simultaneously, when someone has two pet projects one tends to suffer, if even a little.

If THAC really want to reach this stretch goal I would upload another video pitching the concept for the series, easiest way to get pledges. That way people know what they're paying for.

I think that "jarring" statement is Troy's way of providing an excuse to keep experimenting with the mystery/horror genre while also keeping those who may be wary of any long-range THAC production that isn't more "serious" in the fanbase.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did ditch the found footage trope. They did a great job of helping to revitalize it, but it's like a bunch of bananas you buy on Monday thinking you'll have 'em till Saturday: It gets old fast.

They could likely do both if some of the KS earnings are actually a bit of pocket money to get them started. I don't know what other jobs any of them has (and Joseph's still at university, isn't he?), but they need a bit of a cushion to involve themselves to the extent that two series would require. That's totally legit, to me, though I don't think they'll get much past sixty grand--and that's because there's a week left.

I'd love to see instead of one more serious MH-style series and one totally comedy series, a suspense/horror/mystery that heightens the comedy that MH had at times but didn't pursue at others. They have the sense of humor, they have developed the technical know-how, and they've grown as actors and writers. But, yes, ditch the found footage as a primary engine of the series. What's done well once is worth not doing again in this case.

Makes you wonder would a horror/comedy work? You know, run a dark, mysterious narrative and sprinkle satire of modern horror on it and make fun of modern tropes use in the genre. Like a black comedy making light of death, gore and dumb jump scares.

I just want to see some (not-so) subtle MH references in it.

Well, I was thinking of something more like the old Darren McGavin series Kolchak: The Night Stalker, which antedates me but was a favorite of mine in college on The Sci-Fi Channel when The X-Files (some episodes of which were blatant Kolchak rip-offs) was one of THE shows everyone watched. (Same with the best X-Files eps with David Duchovny, before the series got too self-conscious, as he really brought a lot of the humor.) The horror is real, but those who are trying to uncover the truth are going about their daily lives, and humor's a major part of the way they do that. The original Night Stalker ABC TV movie from 1971 is a masterpiece of paranoid conspiracy and paranormal/supernatural mystery (and it's over-the-top-to-the-point-of-camp-as-hell in parts, and the special effects are pretty cheesy--it was produced by one of the creator/producers of Dark Shadows). I think Trosephim would do this pretty well. I think some of their best MH moments were successful in large part because each member of the trip has a comic sensibility and timing.

Maybe TO can have some Alfred Hitchcockesque cameos.

You know, department store mannequin... pedestrian slendywalking to catch a bus... electronics and video equipment salesperson...

I think by "jarring" he meant us. It would be jarring for us to go from something like Marble Hornets straight to a comedy from the same guys. It would be like a director well known for dark horror suddenly releasing a romantic comedy.
