Follow-up from Keith:

"Also, be sure to use a different password for different things. I only put a hint for my company login on my company computer. My Instagram password, for example, is on my phone. This will make sure that if someone gets your password, they won't be able to log in to all your things."

Hrm... seems like we'll only get the login for his trisphere.us thing on his computer. There's also a hint of an instagram.

Well, that's good to know. Being able to access his site account could be very revealing. I'll try some ideas related to the lyrics and see if I can get in.

Can't see any obvious Instagram when searching for Keith Reyes but I'll have a closer look just in case.

I asked Samantha for Keith's age so I could have his exact DOB but she doesn't know it. I set up a mail.com email for myself just so I could see what the password recovery process is like; there's a secondary identification question once you correctly enter the DOB, so I thought I'd try and get to that stage on Keith's email to see what the question is. Unfortunately, after trying three different years for his DOB it locked the account down for 24 hours in terms of being able to change the password. Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to be a viable way of getting into his email unless we can find out his age.

Also, and possibly most importantly, Christian has got back to me with the correct URL for the new message:

http://imgur.com/NT6a3en

At first glance it's a single colour block, although a colour identifier shows both #FF057B and #FF057C in there, so there's potentially something more complex going on. Converting those hex codes into ASCII as we did with the previous images doesn't give much so I'm stumped for now. Image manipulation isn't my strong point so hopefully you guys can do the business!

I have an idea for finding Keith's birth year!

Anyone know what year Trisphere was founded? In his email to me, Keith said that he "graduated college at 22," then worked for some laxative company "for 10 years." Then he moped around "for a year," after which he founded Trisphere. So he would have been 33 when Trisphere was started, right?

EDIT: Founded in 2012. So he was born in 1979? When's his birthday?

Using Gimp, I was able to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
do a select by color in Gimp, and that led to a picture containing 4 corners of a QR code, but cut up and mixed up. Placing them in order and reading it, it is decoded as "http://goo.gl/bfooMr", which when I went to that led to "http://freetexthost.com/pbbg3c2tes", which requires a password. I tried beatles, prince, silhouettes, Silhouettes, but no success

I cannot be positive the QR code was put back together correct, but it looks good. someone else can try it and see if they get the same result.

Outstanding stuff, well done! As this message is from Christian, I doubt this particular password will be connected to the lyrics. I'll have another look back over his messages to see if there's anything in there to suggest what it might be.

As for lyric-related passwords, though: I sent Keith a message asking for specific password security tips as I was worried that I wouldn't make mine tough enough to crack. He said:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Hmm. Maybe make it something where you have to find things in common between sets of something. For example, a picture of an apple and a picture of a grape. Your password could be "fruit." That's some CIA-level security right there, so I understand if you'd want to make yours something a bit easier to remember."

I like the implicit mocking of us not being able to crack this one! As I mentioned there's a definite link between the first Beatles song and the Prince song (White Album / Black Album) but not sure about the other two just yet.

EDIT: If you look at the depictions of the pills on the home page of the site, B Minus Drug is a black and white pill, which could be significant.

Amalie: excellent! His birthday is October 5th. Unfortunately we may be locked out from trying to change the email password until later this afternoon.

The album the Katy Perry song(Dark Horse) is on is called "Prism", does that help?

Edit: Woah, how haven't we noticed this before? The second cats_cats_13 file has a much longer path to the data, revealing a new name: cats_cats_13\Users\charlie\Documents\VGD\cats_cats_13

Someone should ask about Charlie.

I think the Katy Perry lyrics are to be disregarded -- it's been mentioned that they were deleted when the AIM accounts were scrapped.

The first Beatles lyrics and the Prince lyrics were uploaded together so I feel like that black/white link has to be relevant. The Silhouettes and second Beatles track were then uploaded together at a later date so presumably there should be a link between those two. Pretty stumped at the moment but Keith's comments make it sound like it should be a pretty simple connection (possibly between all four?) that I just can't see at the moment.

Someone did pick up on the Charlie thing I think -- I've been so pre-occupied with the password / lyrics stuff that I'd forgotten all about it, though, so thanks for the reminder! There's also a 'Johnson' mentioned in the PDF so it might be worth asking about that name too. I still think there has to be more to that PDF than just the email address, incidentally. The layering of the different parts of the document has to be like that for a reason.

Still, I guess working out this lyrics-related password seems like the thing that should be in our immediate grasp.

Well... The Silhouettes are black and the Beatles are white, if you want to go with that angle.

Also, has anyone tried taking a screencap of the full PDF and using Photoshop to cut it up and rearrange it?

I'm probably being slow but I don't follow why The Beatles are white in the second instance. The Silhouettes certainly fit the 'black' part, though. I thought maybe 'zebra', given Keith's preoccupation with animals - but that doesn't work either.

Maybe I'm over-thinking it, though. Particularly when you consider how simple Christian's password for the coded message, which I've just got, was:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Pasword: cats

Message:

"Fine. B- Drug was the only successful drug the company released. I found out about it after overhearing a phone conversation between Keith and someone else. It... controlled people. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, especially since my knowledge is limited. But if you have B- drug in your system, you'll become extremely susceptible to commands.

B- Drug was all figured out by Trisphere, but then the FDA shut it down. They destroyed all copies of records that they could find, but many were missing. All employees left except for Keith, who managed to keep Trisphere open by some legal loophole. I'm trying to figure out how to manufacture B- Drug so me and my partner can sell it. I don't know his name, and he wore a mask the whole time we spoke. But think about it! A mind control drug! The possibilities are endless."

That goes a long way to explaining the reaction to Dennis leaving, as suspected.

Okay, so this is definitely correct. I've just been in and tried October 5th 1979 and that gets me to the security question:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In what city or town was your first job?

If it's anything like the DOB, we only get three shots at this before it gets locked down for 24 hours so let's try and co-ordinate on this so that we can try a unified answer. I'll go and re-read the blogs to see if there's any information on his history. If not, I'll send him a new message and see if I can get onto that subject.

The Beatles are white because the song was on their White Album, just as Rockhard in a Funky Place was on the Black Album. Both albums were blank barring the artist's name and a serial number.

However... we may not actually need to figure out the password for his trisphere. If we figure out his email password, you can send a password reset to the email and change it.

Yep, absolutely - I think we might have crossed wires here. The first two songs were added together -- they were:

Blackbird - The Beatles (on The White Album)
Rockhard in a Funky Place - Prince (on The Black Album)

The second set of songs added together as 'Lyrics2' (so presumably to be looked at together) were:

Get a Job - The Sillhouettes (no album, single only -- although was on compilation albums later -- but a sillhouette is typically a black shape on a white background)
All My Loving - The Beatles (on 'With the Beatles', not The White Album -- which is why I was questioning it. However, having taken another look that album cover is in black and white so fits the general theme)

So unless we're completely barking up the wrong tree, the black and white theme does seem to be there throughout.

As for the email / Trisphere passwords, my assumption is that they are separate. Resetting the email password will only get us access to cuteykeith11 email address. We'll still need the lyrics-based password for his Trisphere account (if indeed we're supposed to get into that one, perhaps not).

I mean you can reset the Trisphere password by sending a reset link back to your email.

The Silhouettes:

The Beatles:

My comparison was more of a joke than anything.
