[SPEC] Being mislead?

I'm beginning to wonder if we're being misled.

Why would they ask us for all that information and then give us a puzzle that, by most attempts, has been decipherable?

Second, why does the description for virtucube contain letters that spell out "there is nothing here"?

Just a couple of unanswered questions that seem to point towards us being misled... I could be wrong.

If you click on the Open ARG link it says...

Quote:
OPEN ARG

COMING

Be Prepared

Be Ready

Be....

They called SEN5241 an Open ARG so they do know what an ARG is. My guess is that either this is not the open ARG or more ARG goodness is on its way (maybe after we solve a puzzle).

Well, technically, SEN-5241 was an ARG. It involved all the elements of what this genre is, didn't it?

Something just seems a bit odd here.

Yes it did. That's what I meant Smile They called SEN5241 an Open ARG and it was an ARG, so they obviously know what an ARG is.

I'm thinking that whether Virtucube is it or not, we can expect an ARG from Virtuquest.

I dont think so, because it specifically said that it was the 'Virtucube Signup', but hey, I may be wrong. But I agree that we're being mislead. Wink

If I recall, the very first "open" opportunity for puzzle solving was pretty much just puzzles (there was a little bit of ARGish feel to it, but no character interaction in the typical sense. And top players got swag, /me has a Tshirt.

Then they were doing corporate teambuilding ARG stuff.

And then an "open" ARG that we didn't realize was being done by them (THX).

This has much more of a puzzle-feel to me.

But now the Open ARG section is seperate from the VirtuCube section. And the signup now says "VQC OPEN ARG PRE-SIGNUP". It also still asks questions about direct contact and ARG Activity Level. I don't know anything for sure, but it seems that maybe they are two seperate things.

And another update makes it seem that the Open ARG and virtucube may be different things...

Quote:
:ACTIVE ITEMS:
VirtuCube
Open ARG Signup

Also from the glossary and a little off topic...

exactly.

I knew hanging out with you guys would bring lots of rewards. I would settle for being an elf: "brilliant in a more ethereal way." Very Happy

PS. quote from Neal Stephenson.. thanks to virtuquest I've been spending lots of time with Cryptonomicon.
