email reply from Winter titled "the Historian" :
Quote:
Journal EntryJune, 1992

Last year I was finishing up my dissertation on the development of the modern city in the early middle ages when I came upon an old manuscript in the rare book room. At first I thought it was simply another primary source and added it to my list of documents to comb through. Then, out of boredom at the end of a long day, I started to flip through it. I was stunned by what I found

There was evidence that in the early middle ages, pre Renaissance, of a small cult of girls forming and meeting in both Troyes and Milan. Several incidents involving these girls were recorded by clergy in both cities.Among these writings were some very old newspaper clippings about an artifact that had been found near the ruins of Ancient Corinth, which had been copied and distributed in both Troyes and Milan.

There were no photographs or drawings, but the artifact was described as a small stone tablet. What was so puzzling about all this was the fact that this was all BEFORE everyone took an interested in Ancient Greece and also before works of art were copied and distributed.I took one of the clippings, which described the tablet in detail, and sent it to my old friend Devin Collins, who was traveling in the area.

I haven't heard back from him yet.

And here is a piece that Devin Collins wrote:
June 1992

Dear Katherine,

I hope to come home before the end of the summer, as I think both Anna and Clara need their father right now. Not that they don't love you to pieces, my darling, but sometimes girls clash with their mothers (as you clashed so horribly with yours), so perhaps they will continue to listen to their father.

Things are going well here and I'm getting some excellent photographs. I believe I may be able to sell some of these and make us enough money to go back to Paris, as I promised years ago.

Before I return I am taking a small side trip to Kabul. Don't worry, I have a dear friend from the area who will act as a guide and interpreter. This next part is TOP SECRET; I know you won't mind me gossiping about it, and I know that I can always trust you.

I have word from an art collector that there is a rare artifact in Kabul for sale if you know the right price, and if you know how to negotiate with the seller, who is a bit of a curmudgeon. I believe I know how to get him to give up his artifact. I won't go into detail about it now, but will tell you more when it's all over.

The art collector wants to pay me a great deal of money. I can't say how much, but darling it will be life changing. Meanwhile, before I head to Kabul I will be stopping by my apartment in Turkey, so feel free to send all letters and forward all mail there. I will drop you one more postcard before my clandestine mission.

You know what to do.

Yours and Yours Alone,

Devin

How convenient as I chose Penelope lol.

Quote:

Dear Winter,

You asked me to take a minute to recall the immediate sequence of events after I vanished temporarily to remain out of reach of loved ones and friends.

After my shocking discovery at the library, and after meeting with Aiden, I knew that I had to speak in person with one of my friends who lives in Washington D.C.

I told her nothing on the phone except that I was going to be in the area, and as I knew she would, she immediately offered up her apartment as she had a guest room. I went straight to the airport and bought a ticket on the red eye, wondering how quickly I would be traced, since I had to use my ID and credit card for the purchase. Oddly, I never was.

When I arrived in D.C. the next morning I called my friend but she texted me back that she was in a meeting and could I take a cab to her apartment. When I got there I found the key as promised in a potted plant. Inside the apartment I found a note telling me to meet her for lunch at the National Gallery of Art cafe at Noon.

I arrived at the cafe at the appointed hour, but she was not yet there. I ordered an iced tea and sat outside, as the weather was nice. Soon, a waiter approached me an asked my name. When I told him he said that my companion would be unable to make it, but he handed me a brochure from the museum and told me to have a look around and enjoy myself. Puzzled, I took it and tucked it into my purse. It wasn't until I left the cafe and pulled out the brochure that I realized it had been annotated rather strangely.

I will write more tomorrow.

-Penelope

I got a mail from Aiden

Aiden wrote:
It has come to my attention that Winter, who recently returned from Europe, is in the process of passing off a great deal of information to the Keepers. I have several suspicions as to why she is taking this drastic step but no proof.

I simply want to let you know that some of what she says may come off as a mix of alarming fact and irrelevant detail, but things are not always what they seem.

Use caution until you have received all of the pieces of the puzzle.

I am here as a guide, if you need me.

Fire is everywhere, but I am ever watchful.

-Aiden

I also emailed Winter the book title, but we'll see if I get any answer.

Ok so have been rebuilding laptops lately and havent been able to spend the time this deserves.

So since Amandel found the last couple of pages, @pergamumproject has tweeted that not all doors have yet been oprn and showed us a new page:

www.scrollofelements.com/9.html

Not sure where it leads though so have sent out an exploratory tweet.

Ok so we have been pointed in the direction of:

www.scrollofelements.com/butterfly.html

The amount of greek stories surrounding this is immense and interesting although I havent found a lock as yet.

From the origin of the name "Danaus" (Had a very mad twin brother, lots of in breeding, a footrace for marriage and filling baths forever with water) to the food it eats "Asclepia" (from asclepius god of healing).

Well here I am, the slightly out of touch mysterious David here and I seem to be massively playing catchup as progress has been made on other fronts since max took the trip to Wiltshire and the sun came out for him. I had thought things had hit a halt but I find it not the case. Trying to get back up to speed and where are we in these riddles. Thanks in advance pm if there are questions that you have Taransfurball/David.

check out the following link:
http://architecture.about.com/od/ancientromanempire/ss/ephesus_3.htm

The question becomes what about wisdom, knowledge, intelligence and virtue do we need to know.

Where does this go next?
I cannot rule out either Anatolia (Galatians) or Vienna the gates of which the ottoman empire laid siege but was beaten back from at the end of 17th C

Looking forward to catching up.

I had another reach that mat be way off the railroad but here it goes, 9 equals september, all roads on the 9 scroll lead to Istanbul, which was the seat of the Ottoman empire and the anniversary of the siege of Vienna - September 12 1683. Coincidence? It needs ruling out?

Some tweets and an email from Page Hildebrand:

Quote:
Subject: Istanbul Office

This is Page Hildebrand. I have lost contact with Winter and am now here in our office in Istanbul waiting for Max to show up and tell me what's going on.

Meanwhile, I'm scared. Winter has deleted her email, and her cell phone is no longer in service. G.A.T.E. is under lock down. There is some thug lurking around outside right now. He's been tailing me for days but I received a cryptic text from Aiden that has made me more paranoid than ever. I have all of the blinds drawn and the lights off and the doors locked. I'm pretty much afraid to leave.

I'll keep you posted but I'm not sure what's going to happen.

Tweets link to a website :

http://www.winterskeepers.com/

with the repeated phrase on the tweets of:

Quote:
We are Fall. We are Spring. We are Summer.

Also coordinates pointing at Westminster cathedral and a tweet of

Quote:
Long live the Queen

Dates on the website could point to the "East India Company" although no hits on page extensions yet.

Finally, the G.A.T.E page also seems to have been reset:

A new page appeared whilst i was posting on here:

So, this seems to be over for good now. Winter said farewell and the new site has only the front page and a contact page. (Though why is there a contact page if it's over?)

ETA: Okay, I just saw the "Fin." tweet. So yeah, it's over Crying or Very sad

I am guessing that the PM had created a mini adventure for the ending to wrap it up gracefully but due to lack of activity on existing players the ending was moved along a little switfter.

Farewell Winter!
