Because the questions are the driving point of the series. Many people, myself included, have been watching since the first season because they want to see the questions answered, the mysteries solved, the loose ends strung together. It's a little fucking offensive when the writers deny this to their viewers, fumbling their responsibilities as storytellers by making it intentionally ambiguous. It's like a gigantic middle finger to anyone who was actually interested in the plot.
Then I would simply argue that you're concerned about the wrong questions.

Perfect example here.

In BWP, you had all of the build up in the traditional narrative structure without having a 'resolution' ending. The bloody teeth left outside the tent, the rocks outside the tent, Josh disappearing and then screaming on the last night.

The ending was ambiguous, but it was an ending that made sense due to the mythology and what had happened in the film. One scene that was cut from the theatrical version but was in an early Sundance cut was a plant interview in the city mentioning that Rustin Parr made the kids stand in the corner because he didn't like the eyes watching him, and that's what you see Mike doing before Heather gets kblammoed by whatever was in the basement. That's a great example of modifying a story to be 'ambiguous'.

You can contrast that with the Last Broadcast, which was a great film until the ending where they basically did spoonfeed everything to you in switching to 3rd person and showing David Leigh being the killer. IMO that ruined the movie because there was a chance to end it earlier with some ambiguity. For example, when they start pointing to David Leigh being the killer, they could have ended the documentary when they mentioned they got the idea for the Jersey Devil hunt from a viewer, 'D something'.

The MH ending is the equivalent of the BWP cutting from a scene of them being lost in the woods to them driving back to town and end movie with no exposition.

if this is the end, then unsatisfying bad ending is unsatisfying and bad.

If they wanted to end it ambiguously, the last video would have been the best. Ending it with a curveball twist that just leaves us with even more questions is just annoying and makes this whole season feel pointless.

I didn't expect much to be answered, but I didn't expect more questions to be thrown in my face. Even throwing away the mask and driving with a bit of static, followed by "everything is fine" would have been better.

This just seems mean spirited.

No. Blair Witch was an overlong joke, almost a brick joke. This was pretty well done, if a little cliche.

Everything is fine.

through the 5 years of bullshit that happened. All the headaches, paranoia, trouble sleeping, TO fucking shit up, People at each other throats, insomnia, memory loss, spilt personalties, murdering, blood shed, coughing, emotional trauma Tim pulled through. Granted, he isn't going to be of normal health, but it's a lot better than running around in dark woods with a mask on trying to kill people.

Is it just me, or does it look like a hand reaches for Jessica when the distortion starts over her face?

Well this explains who Tim meant when he said "You missed someone" to Alex in Entry #86

I'm not sure how much more clear I can make it that I do not agree with your 'lol anything is satisfying' premise. Given that your premise is immediately disproven, your argument is invalid.

Leaving answers out mitigates that issue. You can't satisfy everyone, so satisfy no one

I like this, as it even more succinctly illustrates the issue. Taking the safe way out in not revealing any additional answers at the end is very much 'unsatisfying'.

If you mean this in the general sense of storytelling, I can tell you there are quite a few stories I am satisfied with. Proof by contradiction.

they seriously can't end everything like this. plus, we need to know what the ark is
Do we? Do we really?

If anything, try to infer it from the already given information. Not everything has to be spoonfed to you.

I think leaving us in the dark at the end would be a beautiful and realistic way to end things. Not everything in life has a silver lining.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There. Was. No. Ark. Outside of Hoody's warped imagination.

I don't at all mind being in The Dark at The End. The only things I mind are that I wish they'd done a little IG digging into whether any extant myth surrounding a strange, faceless, well-dressed man was circulating online, and them not setting up Benedict Hall any more than they did. Otherwise, I was sorta expecting something like this, and it was much better than I'd expected, frankly. Now they can move on, which I think they want to do, and I think we're all ready for them to do.

That's it?

Fuck, I really hope that wasn't the ending, but the fact that it was uploaded on this date and the driving footage make me think otherwise

Fuck that ending was shit

If they left #86 as the end I would have been way more satisfied, this was really unnecessary

I love it as an entry, but not as an ending. Still, if it is the end, it's still an amazing series, and hopefully these guys have long, successful careers in the film industry. Can't wait to see what they come out with next, whether it's another entry, or just another series.
