It was a show, in the end, about interesting people in a strange situation.

Marble Hornets has been a show about names in an interesting situation. There were no interesting people in Marble Hornets because there were no characters in Marble Hornets, just names with vaguely ascribed traits. No character arcs. No catharsis. No emotional stakes. Just a mysterious sequence of events.

You can pull a Lost ending if your characters are worth a damn. You cannot get by just ignoring the mystery when the entire dramatic propulsion of your story is based upon that mystery. All you do then is bring it to a screeching halt and throw your audience through a windshield.

Good luck finding viewers for your next series, and may god grant whoever watches it better taste in the future.

I agree to an extent. I think Jay's characterization could have been stronger but I think Tim was a three dimensional character.
But that's probably what bugs me the most about Jessica; she's just a plot device. She's not an actual character so beyond getting some answers I never cared if she was alive or dead and since we got very few answers from her appearance in this entry, I'm annoyed

Pretty much what I'm thinking for both Hoody/Brian and Masky/Tim.

For anything with hiding Jessica to work, Tim had to be aware of himself as Masky it feels like. And the same goes for Brian.

The question is, what happened with the Brian/Tim TTA alliance for Brian to become so antagonistic?

Tim was a liar.

I KNEW IT. I FUCKING KNEW THAT TIM WAS HIDING SOMETHING IN THAT BAG. I DIDNT KNOW IT WOULD BE HIS MASK.

Before any of you try and tell me it was the Jessica Tape, it couldn't have been because this was when they travelled all the way back to Alex's old area. This is when Hoody was able to reveal the tape all the way back in Tim's house.

If that really was the last entry, I'm very disappointed. I never expected all the questions to be answered, but I did think some of them would be.

And ending with "everything is fine" when it clearly wasn't, when Tim just had the kind of fit that heralds something very bad about to happen? No.

I watched with headphones. I hear the sirens, but since he wasn't pulled over and didn't seem the slightest bit concerned, I'm reasonably sure they had nothing to do with Tim.

I don't understand this Ark = death argument. I've thought it over multiple times, and I just can't make that make sense. I think I was right in that there was no Ark; Brian was just crazy.

Finally, I thought all the people calling a new entry coming out today were nuts; I didn't think we'd get anything until July.

I don't know; I hadn't even worked out all my thoughts about #86 yet, and then this hits.

Sure.. But maybe Tim could have waited for a lucid moment for Jay on the pills and then told him Jessica was fine? Worst case scenario, Jay keeps looking, but best case, Jay goes home.

Tim has to have known that Jay would't stop, so why not level with him? There would be a a better chance of Jay listening to reason if he believed Jessica was safe. As long as Tim withheld that, Jay would never break off his search.

He and Jay had the immediate problem of Alex to deal with. In any case, I still think Jay is too big of a risk-factor to trust with any information you absolutely do *not* want him following up on. He's a well-meaning busy-body who often times doesn't learn from his own mistakes.

That's completely wrong. When Jay saw the tape he did understand why Tim kept it from him, it wasn't until TO twisted his mind that he became so stubborn. Jay wanted to quit at the end of season one but got dragged back into it by Alex, whoever burned his apartment, and TTA.

More proof that Tim is a huge liar. I bet he really does remember what he does as Masky.

That's another thing! If Brian / Hoody's whole deal was to inform Jay of the truth, it seems like he could have used that wall to write, "Jessica lives!"

That was actually a really great catch. If you choose to believe this, then it really does explain a lot of the "why" in the things that were done during masky time.

"He will lead me to you. Lead me to death. Lead me to the ark."

Why is it so hard to realize that once you die the Operator takes you to the ark? AKA his little realm where he keeps dead bodies?

I've come back to say my goodbyes because I honestly think it's the end.

So, just for the record, Tim presumably hid the tape with Jessica on it because as Tim explained to Jay in 77, he didn't want him searching for her. Now, we know that he knew she was alive. This explains why ToTheArk keeps calling him a liar and saying he's keeping secrets, and explains the whole "She's out there" code. Tim was basically waiting for everyone to die in order to tell us. As ToTheArk said, "who is left to hear the secret".

Tim's had that tape since 62, so really who knows how long he's known Jessica. It's implied, as far as I can tell, that they met through having the same doctor. ToTheArk says he's known the secret "for years". That's at least two years. Exactly two years before that video went up was February 20th 2012, about a month before Season 3 started, but 3 months after Jay saw Tim outside his doctor's office/the antique store the first time, which was itself 9 months after Entries #33/76, so really who knows how long Tim's been chilling with Jessica at that doctor's office.

So ToTheArk knew Tim's secret, that he had contact with Jessica, for years, probably because ToTheArk constantly stalks everyone. Tim didn't tell Jay, Alex, or YouTube because he didn't want her getting pulled back in. If I'm right and Tim really was friends with Jessica before Entry #59, then learning about Jay's involvement with her disappearance may be extra reason why he punched him the face.

But yes, all we even probably know for sure is that he's been hiding this since around the time he first got the tape with Jessica on it in 62. As for it being the ending, yeah I'm like 99% sure the really ending-seeming video with footage of cars on the road posted on Marble Hornets' 5th anniversery is the ending. The ark was that dark ass Operator place. What happened to Amy, Seth, and Sarah? I think Tim says that Alex killed Amy, and I don't think they really say 100% certain, but it's probably that. Probably the same with the rest of them, or maybe they all escaped and are living mundane Jessica-ish lives. It kinda doesn't matter to me?

I'm satisfied.

It's been five great years. I know I'll miss this series as I've missed only a very, very few things, like Breaking Bad and Deus Ex.

Indeed. Quoting this as well because DHawk's post is fantastic and really ties the events together.

I don't know. In light of what we know now, it seems like if Hoody was really trying to help Jay find Jessica, with the level of ability and lucidity he had (he stole medical records and pills while posting high concept youtube videos), he could have done so much more directly.. I know that wouldn't have made for good entertainment, but now it doesn't make sense.

If Brian was like Tim, then the pills would have provided him with enough sanity to be a lot more effective.
