What is the Operator?

A fucking MONSTER. Spooky scary skeletons and all that.

What is the Ark?

Death, or maybe just freedom from the Operator in general

Who was Skully?

An FBI agent duh. lol but really to be honest I never even thought it looked like a mask to begin with. I hope no one brings this one up again.

I don't think the story is necessarily over, just the telling of it. Anything that happens to Tim from now on is none of our concern, he knows that getting people involved is a bad idea. It seems pretty likely that he's gonna try to move on and get it all out of his head, since that was working perfectly before Jay showed up and ruined everything. The coughing fit was probably just that; he's not CURED, he's just living with it and accepting it, since everyone at least can agree that the Operator feeds on paranoia.

As for why Brian needed Jay to "lead" him to the Ark instead of just killing himself? I think he probably knew he had to die, but was afraid of dying. Because generally people are afraid of dying. Maybe he was holding out hope that Jay could somehow fix everything. Or hey, maybe he really was just insane and spouting nonsense. We'll never know because he's dead, that's how it works.

Of course I'm just speculating like everyone else, but I honestly loved the entry as both another entry and as an ending. I do think it's over, as much as I'm gonna miss it. But if it's not over yet, I'm certainly not complaining either.

How did he see it all coming so clearly...

Although he lied to Jess about Jay (or so we think; I will never give up my headcanon that Jay is still alive!), this doesn't make him a sack of shit. It makes him a man wrestling with a problem beyond his comprehension, on which nobody can give him advice. He stops long enough to say his goodbyes to Jessica, then drives off to start his life anew, or to make his last stand against the Operator. Everything isn't "fine," but he hasn't given up hope.

If Trosephim didn't answer my questions, they gave me enough material to make my own answers. This ending lets me decide for myself what Tim's ultimate fate will be, and I'm okay with that.

I'm sorry, but if Oppy comes, what makes you think there's going to be logic and reason behind it? He burst into a coughing fit, then jumps up to Jessica, cut to later, he could be running from sirens. Tim is not mentally fine.

See, I'm fine with there being ambiguity and you not believing that's what happened. But stating that it definitively didn't happen when there's a lot of logic that can be thrown at the wall, sticking there, that points to it did...

There is also nothing that points to him throwing away the mask meaning that the personality is gone. It's symbolic-- sure. But an ultimate disposal of Masky all together? I doubt it.

Also: Tim throwing away the mask? He no longer has to hide from anyone because they're all dead.

This logic makes perfect sense, and I tend to agree somewhat, but why would they make that scene all intense and distortion-heavy if they didn't want us to think something happened there?

Because something did--he had a huge attack of Slendy Sickness. It might just be that Jessica's got the TO taint too. Maybe he just can't be around others with the same malady or history, especially if emotions get stirred (you can read that he was emotional about leaving his home or that he was thinking of Jay or that he's hot for Jess, and it could be all of those and more). So he's not in as much control as he'd thought, and he'll deal with it the rest of his life.

Yeah, but why would they make that scene all mysterious like that? One moment Tim's saying he's leaving, then he starts having a coughing fit, Jessica's trying to help, distortion happens, then the tape jump cuts to Tim just driving in silence. Jessica is never seen or mentioned again after that. Why all the ambiguity on Jessica? They gotta be implying something happened to her there.

It coulda happened after, too.

It's also possible that whatever happened, even if benign, Tim edited it out. I like the ambiguity, too. But it could be that TO got Jessica afterward. The color bars in the jump from Tim's seizure to Tim driving could be from a variety of things.

Can I just ask, what time do these sirens occur at?

That's the big takeaway. Regardless of what happened between Tim's seizure and when the camera captures him driving, Tim's not really fine.

Worth noting that if nothing happened and things were really okay, Tim would NOT have said "Everything is fine" without any further explanation. That's not how he's done things at all so far. His "Everything is fine" is so OOC that it should probably be taken as a clear sign that everything is anything but.

And sirens occur almost immediately after the cut, if memory serves. They're rather faded and thus may or may not be OOG.

Right when it jump cuts to Tim driving after the coughing fit with Jessica. Pretty much starting at 4:05 and it seems like it lasts until around 4:15. Make sure you wear headphones, it's really subtle and quiet.

Now I'm kind of second guessing it, but it does sound like sirens. Maybe.

They're wicked faint in the background when Tim's driving at the end. They start when the camera jumps to Tim's face as he drives.
