In all honesty? I think that it wasn't Tim that wrote "everything is fine".

The more I think about it, Tim wasn't technically at a crossroads at the end.

He was at a dead end.

I've been watching Marble Hornets since back in 2009 when it all began. I've been lurking the unfiction forums for quite some time, always eager to see the discussions and discoveries that everyone would make, particularly in regards to the totheark videos. But now we're at the end or at least very close to it.
I'm not entirely sure why I decided to make an account and post just now other than to say thanks.

In other news:

The only question is, if Tim indeed knows that the viewership of MH are also bound to become infected, why lull us into a false sense of security when it's obvious from this Entry alone, what with something happening between Jessica/Tim in the parking lot, that everything is just as bad as it always was? That's one thing I can't wrap my mind around.[/i]

I got the sense that he either wants to be ironic and call out our complacency or, more likely, is trying to give us an out, a way to back away from whatever may happen to him. There's that possibility that we the viewers could have been infected, but it really does seem to be that sharing a camera with an infected person is the catalyst for the "jump."

Sure, Jay became progressively ill as he watched through the tapes. But he'd been on them and had been recorded by (and had used) at least one of Alex's cameras, so it seems that the sickness was always there and just lying dormant. We're watching, though, and maybe we're at risk--but none of us have been cast in a Kralie Films production.

First of all, amazing bit of cinematography in this episode - the ending was the best, with the turn signal - we heard it clicking, so Tim had clearly made a choice. We just didn't know which one.

I've only made it to page 11 of the forums, but I'm not sure if I'm even going to bother reading up to whatever page this will end up on - there seems to be two main debates going on.

A. Is this a satisfying ending?
- To this one, I answer yes. As DHawk's amazing post on page 4 explained, keeping Jessica hidden from us was a wise thing for Tim to do - and even smarter of him to keep from Jay (although I don't know why Tim bothered keeping that Jessica tape on him at all)

B. WHAT THE HELL IS THE ARK
- I don't understand why people are so caught up about this. People seem to be so pissed we didn't get a direct answer - but did we really ever get direct answers from MH? In my personal opinion, the Ark is Death. If you pay attention, you'll notice the Operator always seems to take people before they're dead, or soon after there deaths if you want to be picky. So how do you escape the Operator? Dying BEFORE he can take you to Oppy-land. In otherwords, Oppy-land is the flood - reaching the ark is the only way to keep yourself from it.

Notice: If I find that in pages 11-this one that these have been resolved, I will edit my post.

Something to note: Jessica makes it abundantly clear that Tim has been around her before with a camera in her face. Could there possibly be more footage with her?

Yeah, I noticed that too. Tim's become the shutterbug auteur like Jay. Even Alex ultimately gave it up. Rather disturbing. (Or, Tim coulda been wearing the chest cam before it crapped out. We have no way of knowing.)

He was so patently, blatantly, absurdly, stupidly bad at hiding it. It's almost as if he'd wanted Jay to see it. That or he'd figured it looked like a pack of smokes, but I don't see that.

By the way, a bit disappointing to see Tim Sutton smoking. Didn't he quit a while back? So the posdcast said?

Guys, I just thought of something after watching this: when did this video take place? It seems to have been uploaded very quickly. I realize IG and OOG times don't overlap anymore, but still. What if this took place shortly after Entry 76? I'm sure there's a few holes in the theory, but I'm still going with it. Yes, we saw Tim throw the mask away, but Hoody* could have retrieved it.

*I'm not going to push any "Hoody wasn't really Brian" theories, but I will refer to the two as separate people.

Point is, we've been given a hell of a lot in regards to Tim and Alex's pasts, and that's a big deal in regards to the full story.

This is why I'm not saying that the ending is absolute shit, but there are way too many missing pieces for me to go, "THAT WAS SO AWESOME I PEED M'SELF!"

I think I'm just going to stop the "might not be the ending" disclaimers. I don't know how exactly people want me to respond to the constant confusion about when the end actually is.

Seems fair. I was fairly sure #87 was the ending, but the more I think about it, the less satisfied with it I am, really. It was definitely better than a lot of people are giving it credit for, but there's a lot that they could still tie up much more nicely.

OOG:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Plus, the DVD/Blu Ray isn't hitting till August, if I remember correctly - this definitely leaves time for one more entry.

"Stereotypes allow for information to be presented more simplistically, but at the cost of accuracy."

Also, good for Tim, that shit'll kill ya.

I'm only up to page 14 through this, but this is my idea on the closure.

I'm unsatisfied about all this ending too. But that's the problem. It's a FOUND FOOTAGE series. You cant have an entry that has all the answers. Because most of these answers Tim CANNOT ANSWER. Tim is our medium. If Tim can't answer them, then we can't have the answer to it unless there's another TTA video (which I doubt) or he speaks to someone who knows. I'm unsatisfied, but that's the medium that this series has been created in.

That's pretty much it. There's nobody left to explicitly say 'THE ARK IS ____'. Brian's dead, and even if he was still alive, he was probably too far gone to really shed light on anything.

I don't think that's really that much of a problem. Several ways you can handle that:

1. Have more of the background tapes have escaped destruction.

2. Have Alex or Brian answer things before their death.

3. Give the Totheark clues more substance.

4. At least some of these could have been indirectly answered. There could be local legends about The Operator, or Tim & Jay could theorize about why it doesn't come after them.

If this is the end, all I can say is: I'm really sad that Jay isn't around to see his YouTube channel stop updating Sad
