If possible it'd be nice to get a sticky for this and we need to set a due date for the initial batch of 'thank yous'.
As a tentative date, I'd think that shortly before the new year is a good time for the 'first run' due date, as that gives us nearly two months to record and upload our files.
DL from a website is good, but we'd need to have a pretty hefty server to handle all the possible (probabe) non-4orty-2wo DLs. I'd still like to mint a batch of CDs for them too... no reason why we should be the on;y ones with souveneirs
Any beekeepers who have good tips for a good recording set up (on the cheap), please give us the lowdown. Remember that we'll want to keep the audio quality fairly high - particularly for the CD.
If we do a website, we'll also need to have, well, a site to put the files on. A good server and a decent site design are a must.
For those who wich to contribute their thanks, I think we should probably start a signup of some kind. For now I'd suggest a PM to myself with the subject tag of 'Thanks Signup'. If my PM box fills at a horrifying rate we'll work something else out soon.
More later, time for work.

Addition to the idea:
For those who would like to express their thanks in other media I would suggest that they write, sing, draw, paint, sculpt or whatever else they'd like to do, and we'll set up links on our site / put a copy of it on the CD.

That's a great idea. Set up different directories for audio, pictures, text etc. That gives people more freedom to express themselves however they want.

I think we should end this the same way it started.
We cut out letters from something thick... These must spell
T-H-A-N-K-Y-O-U
We must place these in a similar container as the bear-jars.
and then we need to mail them to the HQs of:
1) 4orty 2wo entertainment.
2) Bungie
Then we may need to do some work to send them to each of the voice actors.... but it can and should be done.
Simple. Cheap, and a powerfully recognizable statement.

Idea! Well, I have another idea that I think might be useful to them from an advertising/business standpoint:
A lot of businesses have brief but pithy quotes from their customers on their websites, in presentations they do, in materials they hand out, etc.
Perhaps we should go through the forums and find things that people have said about the ARG that the PMs might find useful and compile them somewhere, perhaps hereabouts.

I can do the rabbit-hole - I've got a bear-shaped honey container (small and plastic, no less) unopened on my floor right now!

Personally.... I am trying to find a jar of honey like the bears they sent out as the initial rabbit hole, and send it to 42 with the letters THANKYOU.
Seems to be the most circular, and poignant way to say thanks and goodbye....

Holy carp. I didn't see this until after my above post.
Great minds and all.

Seriously. They had like fifty of them in a display at Safeway. If anyone wants to paypal me a bit, I can buy as many as we need

If I had a mic, I'd go along with the audio idea. I'll see if I can't steal one from a friend for a little bit, though.

I'd love to do both a WAV and something extra for the PMs to say thank you. I can do a big Photoshop of something - I'll think about it really carefully, and come up with something they'll enjoy.
Showing our gratitude in any way possible is the least we can do for all they've given us to remember.

I'd love to record a wav for the PMs (though I'd have to acquire a microphone, first ). If it's all right, I'd also like to include my 5ver... it was meant as an acknowledgment of the PMs' hard work as much as a humorous parody.
