To give them their due, I'm actually impressed with how they are handling this. Having those Facebooks set up for Alexa and Amy was a really nice touch and adds an interesting new dimension to stuff, as well as showing some serious advance planning. The very sudden "What, everything's fine, who's this Jane person?" stance from Tammy combined with Alexa suddenly finding everything going to shit for her is actually a really nice, disconcerting shift for the series, and the change of perspective should hopefully prompt them to tease out their more original ideas.

On top of that, this is actually a really apt time for Jane to drop out. Their equivalent of entry 18 had a really intense conclusion so it would kind of make sense for Jane to end up vanishing after that too. For that video to be amongst the ones which have had to disappear heightens that because it means those of us who saw it have to rely on our memories of how it looked, and it's the sort of image which gets worse in the recollection.

My thought was totally the opposite. Having content completely scrubbed free like nothing ever happened is confusing & pretty much the worst kind of retcon. You could say that they made the best with what they had to deal with, but did they? Actress-Who-Played-Jane totally gave her consent to be in this thing, so asking to be retroactively removed is kind of a jackass thing to do that I don't think they were obliged to agree to.

Whether or not they were obliged to scrub the content gets into tricky questions of who actually owns the content. Unless actual contracts were signed, that's going to be a messy question. Plus these people are probably friends and so even if they could hold out in principle and not pull the videos in practice they might want to respect their friend's feelings.

I agree that pulling the videos is far from an ideal situation, but I think they're making the best they can of it.

My impression from reading that post was that they were through with each other. Then again, maybe I'm just projecting. As to ownership, I didn't think of that. I just recall doing a search once on laws regarding being filmed & finding out that there usually aren't any, & what ones there are usually go away once you consent to being filmed.

I believe I was wondering how the fuck "r/creepshots" could possibly be legal.

Anywho, assuming having to erase the videos? I don't know, personally, I would favor replacing Jane & reshooting them, or just doing a hard reboot altogether. I am a real stickler for continuity, & besides, this production might benefit from an image overhaul.
