I believe we're meant to assume that the Operator protects Alex because Alex is easy to manipulate. Alex's claim that he's trying to stop the Operator being a lie he tells himself and others to hide from the fact that it's controlling him.

I just wonder why someone like Brian cracked so easily, while Jay, Tim, and Alex seemed to be able to (kinda) keep themselves together.

Even if Alex was lying to himself he was able to keep himself coherent and planning. I thought that when he killed Jay he had just become a puppet of the operators but he proved later that he was still in control (or not).

I think Alex escaped the Operator after being stalked by it via moving. Once Jay however starting watching the tapes it reawaken the Operator as Jay went actively looking for it.

Once Alex was back in the mix he was aligned with the Operator for a short time (Killing Bruce, when Jay went to his house and the Op was behind him). After a time Alex wanted to end it-as he knew how to end it. He almost came close, but Tim got him first.

It's entirely possible the OP knew alex had turned against him and Tim being alive would keep him alive as well (Or in existence-whatever). In the end Tim remaining alive and also sheltering Jessica (Who wasn't killed because the Op protected her too) was the goal of the operator to exist.

The operator is described as a disease-and a disease is transferred from one host to another. It however always requires a host to survive. If all were killed (as alex said you have to kill everyone) that would end him.

What exactly the operator was beyond a disease is the mystery Marble Hornets didn't want to answer. That's fine, you can speculate all you want. I'll stick with the notion he was a projected imaginary figure created by Tim that he was able to bring to real life due to his mental disorders as a child. Tim had a gift to make him real.

Because he went nuts, and in a different way that Alex went nuts. Probably (at least, this is my theory, so this sentence really should start "Possibly") when the failed murder attempt in Entry #51 didn't result in Brian's permanent disappearance, and Brian found the Dark Realm, and returned, his mind was skewed somehow. It's more cracking like an egg that's been thrown at a brick wall than like an egg that bumped against the fridge door.

That's the thing, though--it seems that Jay reawakened The Operator, but it also seems that the event that brought TO back into Alex's life was Amy finding his old, contaminated camera.

Whatever The Operator is, it quite likely can operate (don't roll your eyes) in different locations at once. So The Operator could possibly have been reawakened in Alex's life independently of Jay's MH channel.

Regardless of what origin you ascribe to, there's no question that throughout the series, Alex is treated as the archetypal Patient Zero - spreading the disease without showing any symptoms himself.

In that context, Tim recognizes that killing Alex is far more important than killing himself or anyone else. They can all take pills to suppress the disease, but patient zero has no recourse - he'll just spread the disease indefinitely, never realizing (or admitting) that he's the cause. Like some kind of Lovecraftian Typhoid Mary.

Maybe the Operator is slowly gaining power from all the evidence of its existence, but can only physically reach those who have watched and/or spread it. So Jay gave it enough power to reawaken and being spread by Alex both revealed his location and fed it.

I dunno, I'd say Brian, Alex, and Tim all cracked equally, just in different ways. Sure Brian never spoke, broke into people's houses, and was basically a magic hobo, but Tim was a masked linebacker with a phantom broken leg and Alex was a wandering serial killer.

We finally got an answer to the Rocky question! He ended up dead on Alex's lawn in 2006. Sad (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLax_MaimDo @ 1:00:15)

Sorry, Joker. But you can still dream.

I always kind of figured Rocky was being referred to with that line, the question is who did it.

The one nice thing about their responses is that they're always funny/entertaining. I should suck it up & find time to watch this.

But an hoooooooour....

There was some very funny stuff towards the end. 'Everything is fine... Also be sure to like and subscribe, it really helps me out.'

I'd guess either Tim, Brian or Alex killed Rocky. Former two as revenge (though I'd like to think Brian and Tim were better than that, even in masky states), Alex because The Operator drove him to kills lots of things.

I just remembered, did we ever really found out what exactly happened to Seth and Sarah, or do we assume they got Slendied?
