How am I not surprised that Angelo is the one with this list.

I already chimed in with my opinion on the Check In thread, but figured I would throw my two cents in here also. I did not get to play Halo 2 at all. I don't care, even though I am a big Halo fan that came out expecting that to be the high point. Once we all clustered together to work on the puzzle, I wasnt pay much attention to anything else any more (for all I know I was called and someone else claimed to be me.) The trip to Denny's and just the general camaraderie were just incredible. I would fly out to meet with this group again in a heartbeat.

All you needed was a velvet hat, yo. Someone needs to send me a copy of the pic of the Goddesses with Chuck. Por favor?

Holy Smokes, 33 pages??

We get credit for talking our fool heads off, that's for certain. Very Happy

I burned through that mid-term in 30 minutes, first to turn it in and bust out the door for my "Dentist appointment." In Chicago (what can I say, he's quite talented). Cruising at 85, groovin' to the Halo Soundtrack and "Avenue Q", I totally missed my Axon Call. Perhaps it's because the ringtone was set to Halo? Fortunately, my voicemail picked up and recorded, so that was a success, no thanks to me.

I was constantly in touch with the rest of the MI crew heading to Chicago, keeping each other up to date and making sure no one got lost. GreasyMex was in on it as well, being just over the border in lowly Ohio.

I parked up top as directed, next to someone's "ILOVEBEES" car (awesome!) and someone's strongbad car (double-awesome! or should I say, ze double deuce!) which turned out to be the fabulous Krystyn's.

Ermac nobly printed out my confirmation number, and the whole Ermac Crew was decked out in awesome ILB T-shirts. Chipotle saw a visit from myself, Mr. Beefy, Krystyn and others before we went up to the crazy, hot, cranky line in the largest theatre to exist, ever. Seriously.

DreamoftheRood was incredibly cool and beckoned me forward to the front of the line, and here I'm thinking, "Who am I to deserve this?" I was beyond geeked (appropriately) to see the girls wearing the designs I made for them, and I received a special-special lanyard (I didn't make them, sorry Phaedra). I almost felt like I'd snuck into somewhere I didn't belong *chuckle*.

We occupied our time in the sweaty line by distracting the gamers with our pointing. We also made the Executive Decision to do away with the line-barriers in our corner so the rest of the beekeepers we knew could jump ahead.

After entering the blessedly cool theatre, we put our loudmouths to good use by beckoning (nay, shouting) any beekeepers into our corner in the rear right. I think part of why we had more fun than the other "Non-PM" cities was because we beekeepers shouted until the cool folks came our way Wink. While the "regulars" mostly kept to themselves, we had a tight-knit, boisterous, friendly crew that deferred to each other, played fair and just plain shared the love the entire night.

No booing the little kid. Only losers boo at children.

The puzzle was the best part. We dove in, and no one cared that H2 was blasting in the background; damn it, we had the final puzzle and we were going to solve it! With quick teamwork we put it together. My contribution was to ask if it wasn't a wav file, maybe it was a webpage? ... but we never tried that, so the honor goes to someone else. *chuckle* No worries. Wouldn't it have really pissed people off if we stole the Cat-5 for our internet connection and dropped Chicago? *crows*

We asked Chuck Blevens to Denny's with us (our treat), and as Krystyn said, there was about a 60% probability.... but he gamely arrived, and we treated him while we grilled him for 90 minutes. Everyone was polite. I dropped him a thank-you email, because we all know he didn't have to do that. It was half of what made my night.

I never played Halo 2. I didn't win a prize. I lost my ticket and nearly lost my DVD twice. I don't care in the least, ya hear me? I came to meet the people who created the game (oh well), and I came to get together with the people I've been working and playing with for three months. I miss you guys already!

Angelo, RoboGriff, Spie, Kirsten, Lemures, Krystyn, Kali, Ermac, GreasyMex, FugitivSoldier, Hyacinthe, plus the guy in flannel, the guy in a military sweater, and, and, and the rest of you whose names I asked over and over again (and forgot immediately), you made this trip totally worthwhile for me, driving 5 hours was nothing to meet such people as yourselves. And yes, you'd think we were in Cali instead of the midwest with all the hotness going on. *grins*

On a final note, 5 of us MI boys went up to the Sears Tower afterward and had some fancy Chicago Pizza before hitting the road the next day. Good times, all around.

Hey guys. I've got the contact list all typed up and ready to go. I'm going to pm it to those individuals that are on the list as soon as I get home to my computer. I will also post the list of names (NOT EMAIL ADDYs) here.

If for some reason your name isn't on that list just pm me with your handle, email address, and AIM username, and I'll update the list and resend it.

Oh, good. I'm glad someone ended up with the list. I was wondering what was going to become of it.

Yeah, I gave Chuck a 60% probability of showing up, because 50/50 would be fair to anyone, but he was so personable and nice and mellow right off the bat that I kicked in an extra 10. It was nice to have him show up - I think by the end of the night he felt like a celebrity.

I think one of the most bizarre moments for me was when I picked up MrBeefy. His train was late, and so I went to the parking garage downtown to get my car, and I thought, "I'll call and see if he's arrived yet, so he doesn't start walking to my building," and so he picked up the call, and there was just street noise, and so I said, "Hello?" and then I identified myself, and he said, "Oh, wow! I was actually calling you at this very moment!" If I had been quicker on my feet, I would've said, "That's because I am The Operator!", but alas, it didn't occur to me until many seconds later.

So he tells me he's at Canal and Jackson, I tell him to walk one street south, and I drive out in my car, see a dude with a backpack looking sort of expectant/searching on the sidewalk, and I pull up to the light in the middle lane, lean over and unlock the door after spasmodically waving. He slides in, says hello, shuts the door, we shake hands in greeting, and the light turns green.

Heh. He also offered me rations on the way there! That water saved me after the event, you know. I was done gone and parched after all the yelling and talking and laughing.

Wow, sounds like loads of fun! I wish I could've been there, but I just couldn't make it. After travelling down to Chicago to pick up a "magic wand" for Chasing the Wish and driving 14+ hours for a failed attempt at finding the David Blaine treasure, I had to sit one out to prove to my husband that I was sane. But now that I proved myself, I'll be free to make it next time, wherever that may be. Twisted Evil Looks like Chicago is a future choice for an ARGfest (maybe ARGfest-O-Con V, after IV in New York), so hopefully I'll see some of you there then!

Sounds like a great time was had by all! I'm kinda sad now that I couldn't make it, but hearing all the accounts and seeing the pictures somewhat makes up for it. I'm REALLY glad that the PMs at least decided to end the game with a bang, rather than a whimper Very Happy

Also, Phaedra is cute Embarassed Wink

Really?... I didn't notice. Laughing

Ok, sorry about the delay on the list. Life happened, and I was unable to make it home. I just sent it off to the email addresses listed in the note. I figured that would be easier then trying to pm it to each individual person. If you didn't recieve the email please pm me because there is the possibility that I couldn't read your email address correctly. Also if there are any problems with the list email me and I will correct them. I was planning on making a list in excel when I got to work, but I heard kirstens is going to add gamertag info also, so I'll let her take care of that. Wink

Hey all,

I am late chiming in, because my wife and I just got back from an extended weekend in northern-lower Michigan. Sadly, that's why I had to leave early and not go to Denny's with you all.

Rather than go into a long diatribe, I will echo the sentiments, good and bad, of everyone who was at the Chicago Training event. For me, it was great to put faces with names, but it was an anti-climactinc end to the ILB experience.

DreamoftheRood, you should definitely be a PR guy. You were totally the drill-sergeant for the event for the rest of us Beekeepers.

For the Goddesses(and honoraries), the lanyard/badge/logo art was from ILB member Pattern...I have to give credit where it is due. Like I said, I am only the worker drone who slapped those together for the goddesses. For those who didn't get one, but want to make one of their own, the link is here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=45267&highlight=#45267

I have to admit, I am in a bit of denial that this is all over. I keep scanning the boards and the site for new stuff...sadly, it's thinning out. Sigh. Crying or Very sad

In any case, take care all. It was a blast meeting you. Hope to see you on Live. My gamertag will be Klobbermeister, same as here. Same as the email address.

Peace.

Atis

link to more video

Per a request, I uploaded the rest of my raw videos to the same site.

There are some more shots of the theater and Denny's. You may even be able to recognize some folks, despite how dark it is.
