It's been out for home video for like 4 years now, do you also worry about people who say Harry Potter was a horcrux, or that Kristin Shepard shot JR?

I've seriously been wondering whether or not an obviously ridiculous & poorly written* ending that actually explains everything is preferable to a serious ending that explains almost nothing.

Depends on what you want I suppose.

I just can't fault them anymore, they were making their first series, wrote themselves in a corner they couldn't deliver on, and just hit the easy way out button.

Hopefully, they will learn during the next series and it doesn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the series.

I'm not entirely sure that's really going to amount to much. Still, moving along to the pertinent conversation here,

I think I'd prefer the serious ending that explains nothing. I like having things left to my imagination. Again, that's just me.

I don't see them hitting the easy button. I seem them as trying to bring as smooth a landing as they could to the MH phenomenon so they could hit the ground running to their next project.

They've probably learned a lot, and I sincerely doubt that they're blindly, blithely, and arrogantly waving away all negative criticism as they seem to want to be portrayed as doing. They're artists, and artists like to keep up the appearance that they're Important Creative Types because they just have to, not only to seem as if nothing gets up their butts but also because if they don't, then the could let everything get up their butts, and then they'll be more prone to making the same old mistakes. MH was largely (at least I think) a way of proving that they could make a series, warts and all. For a first series, it's generally very good, and it has some very bright spots.

I hope their comedy is as dark as their drama. Probably everyone on this board has seen "Joseph Listens to Jazz" and "Joseph Touches a Grapefruit" (which is more absurd than dark, but the end is beautifully strange). Has anyone seen Tim's student short film "No Quarter", with Troy in two roles? It reminds me of one of Louis CK's early, gloriously dark absurd movies (like "Ice Cream" and "Hello, There").

That's what I liked a lot about titlebreaker's ending, it explained things in a surprisingly cool, but funny way. I honestly prefer it to the actual ending for that reason, and also because it would've been the ultimate prank after keeping a serious tone the entire time.

Yeah, it was pretty impressive that, though the whole thing was mocking the idea of "the perfect ending," technically, everything had a logical explanation. Usually, parody relies on comedic departure from logic.

While this is late as all hell, and possibly not worth mentioning, The S3 commentary for this entry confirmed that the barely audible ambulance sirens were intentionally edited in.

Well, what does this tell us? For me, the most likely reason for that would be that Jessica called the ambulance due to Tims seizure, but he left before it could arrive.
I doubt that Tim called them, for Jessica was fine when we last saw her, and if she was slendernapped, an ambulance would not be needed.

So I see two and a half main* interpretations for that. Either Jessica is relatively fine, called the ambulance for Tim, but he does not want to come in contact with any more people, runs and drives away, into his exile, or to kill himself, hence the dire look. Or Jessica called the ambulance, and then gets slendernapped. Tim sees that all his effort was for naught and mindlessly drives around, figuring out that there is no end to this but for his death.
The half interpretation would be a modification of the second one, in which Jessica get's not slendernapped, but Tim goes wild / Masky, attacks and injures her, so that he calls an ambulance for her then leaves, realizing that all his effort was for naught and mindlessly drives around, figuring out that there is no end to this but for his death.

____
* Of course more interpretations are valid, but given what is shown to us, I deem those to be the closest to the shown events.

Given that in the entire series TO has never physically injured anyone or successfully slenderknapped anyone that isn't mortally wounded. I honestly don't buy the whole "Jessica phones an ambulance for Tim because of coughing", while plausible, it doesn't really fit with the feeling of the series. Its too benign.

Of all the theories, I think this one is probably the most likely to be true, though I don't think Jessica is just injured and i certainly don't think Tim was the one to call the ambulance...

Given the feel of the series, Jessica is most likely either dead, or mortally wounded (and likely to be in the operator's domain to boot), Tim is either living with it in solitude or has killed himself, and Jay is very much dead (Tim is a LIAR, Jays death wasn't doctored, it was legitimate, he only faked murder was Jessica).

I feel like people are annoyed for two reasons.
1. The last entry was incredible, and it's pretty much impossible to top.
2. It only raised more questions and provided no answers, which we've loved in the past but in the apparent last entry it feels irritating.

Also, I personally think that Tim went into Masky mode and attacked Jessica.

Personally I think that Tim was stone cold sober, at least as far as that was still possible for him. He believed what Alex had told him and despite his feelings he felt that he had no choice but to eradicate Jessica and himself to rid the world of the Operator.
