You're on the right lines, but it's not that the numbers should be split into pairs, but into ASCII relevant groups - so some numbers will be three digit. Consider the first bit after the bit you've done:

4955116104

Split that into ASCII DEC numbers

49 55 116 104

49 converts to "1"
55 to "7"
116 to "t"
104 to "h"

therefore 4955116104 means "17th", which makes sense, right?

http://www.asciitable.com/ is a handy table of codes to decode the rest.

Anyone had any luck with the Chechen translation on Blue Dawn yet? I'm struggling to find any online program that can make sense of the text.

Hmm... stumped on the four different set of maps.

How to differentiate which one is real? I guess theres a clue in the provenance of provenance records, but not really sure where to look?

Just to add something on ASCII, I use http://www.asciitohex.com , which uses copy and paste. Hehe, I guess Im a little lazy on these... Laughing

HI MiniMII,

if you look at the record for each of the 4 sets of maps, and look for:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
anybody who did "node edits" on the maps who is
"suspicious" (i.e. who might be someone who previously falsified records), you will find 3 that are probably false and 1 which is therefore true.

So it's all over. A few hiccups along the way, a few things that worked better than others but damn glad that doing provenance is now over!

Ended up taking a break from this for AGES and have now returned to finish it but totally stuck on the braille one. Is anyone still around to help? Whatever it says, I have absolutely no idea and don't know how to fill in the reporting section on this one either (specific hotel and location?)
